I'm sure this has probably been asked already, but I missed it....

Anyway, Tamar has a pretty decent voice when accompanied by Prince, but she isn't the epitome of great singer,nor musician..

What is it about her that he is into?

she gives good head.
i'm guessing. hell, there must be something sexual going on with them for him to put this much promotion into her career.

Prince has had many other protegees throughout his career. It just so happens that most of those were pre-internet, when fans kept their wonderings to themselves and couldn't chat endlessly about it with others who were interested (like now).

A small handful of the those protegees made a real name for themselves. The others are really only remembered by other Prince fans. I mean, how many people outside of the Prince world do you think have ever heard of Ingrid Chavez?

Prince is out of touch with what the public wants in regards to music. He doesn't seem to pick too many singers that really have "that something" that is going to separate them from the rest.

I don't think he is obsessed with her.They have history, dating back to '93 when she recorded that song with him, so maybe he just wants to help out a young lady that he thinks has the "it" factor.

From what I have heard so far, she has a really nice voice. I am not saying that she is on some Chaka Kahn type vocals, but compared to what is out there now, she is a breath of fresh air.

I just hope that she has been given material that will display her vocal ability.

I also hope they revamp her image. I wasn't really feeling whatever the image that they were trying to project.

I don't know. She seems to be the most hyped protege of his career. He never let anyone else share the stage of a TV performance like he did with SNL. He never toured with a protege as a backing musician like he has with her...

Maceo is not a protege. He is a sideman. I can't figure out why anyone would think the Tamar is not just like the dozens of other black female vocalist who seem to be selling a fair amount of CD's.

If P is going to write and produce another artist and he actually wants it to sell he is better off going with a female vocalist.

Prince is just trying to get a piece of that lucrative neo soul pie.
