Are you still listening to "3121" ?

It's still in my car, but I'm listening to it less and less. I knew this was going to happen damnit. There's just not enough there to hold my attention for repeated listening...

Not to be too retro.. but I remember the summer of 1987, I played the "Sign O' The Times" tape every single day for the whole summer. I had to get another tape. And then I got the 12"s and b sides and that was good for another few months of constant listening..

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I LOVED it out of the box but seemingly with every listen I liked it less and less and right now I can't listen to it at all.

Yes. It's pretty much the only thing I play in my car. I've been playing the cd non-stop since it leaked. Sometimes I listen to it all the way through, but for the most part I just repeat The Dance and Fury over and over. lol

Even TAC has grown on me. biggrin

Yes, but I'm not like some of you wackos that listen to the album 10 times a day.

I'm too old for that now. I think the album holds up very well having said that.

I have slowed down on listening to the whole album start to finish, but that's more 'cause I've been slammed at work than anything else... (also the new Morrissey came out, and he's my other main guy, and his new one is beautiful)...

I'm still playing individual tracks constantly though, and putting them into playlists with other Prince stuff and seeing how it flows.

"The Word" sounds beautiful in the same mix as "Space (Universal Love Mix)" and "7" and "Pink Cashmere"...

Also still digging "Incense & Candles." Yes, I am.

I think I listen to "the Dance" and "the word" the most. I think he'll release a remix of "Fury" that will be incredible. "Fury" kind of reminds me of the Santana/Rob Thomas song "Smooth" I think with the right production it could be a big hit.

I played it too much before the album was even released, so I'm taking a break to explore some other music I haven't/have been meaning to discover.

So, everytime I listen to "3121", it sounds a bit more refreshing.

Being that it was almost 20 years ago, I'd venture to say that you were 20 years younger, too. I remember I was 19-20, I would listen to a CD 2-3 times in a row. But as I got older, and my record collection increased, that eventually stopped happening.

So could it be that 3121 is just as good as it was the day you bought, you're just the type of person that gets bored easier? This is not meant as an insult, just as an inquiry.

listening to it like crazy; went on a roadtrip w/ my hubbie this weekend and we blasted the entire CD from start to finish, and sang along w/ most of it. Great driving CD.

It's a fun, funky album.

here's the funny thing. despite the fact that i usually dislike/confused by the preachy side of prince, on this album my favs are 'the word' and 'get on the boat' 'beautiful loved and blessed' also rocks. big grin

it's.... ironic imo but i'm loving this album. imo it's quintessential prince.

i think 'the word' would be a good hit for this spring season

I listened to it over four hours ago and it just keeps getting better every time I listen to it. I'm definitely feeling The Word! headbang

I listen to at least The Word and The Dance every single day.

But, I just got Ultimate and I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I have so.... lol

Nope. Had it on my mp3 player for awhile. just took it off to make more room last week. I keeps the Hits 1 and 2 on there. I listen to those the most now.

Absolutely. It gets better with time.

Songs that I tolerated are now my favorites -- like The Dance, The Word.

I now don't believe there's a bad song on the album, not even BL&B or Get on the Boat lol (I hate jb-style songs).

Anyway, there are the songs that still kick azz: 3121, Fury, Love, Satisfied, The Dance.

Lolita and Black Sweat sound a little sillier now, but still poppy enough to satisfy.

Incense and Candles & The Word are nice and mellow for me. I likey.

The others get played, but are NOT outstanding to me (TAC, GOTB, BL&B)

Gosh I do that too! But today I played it in my car... and it didn't really hold my attention as before.

No. I listened to it a couple of times when it came out but haven't listened to it since. I did quite like the album but felt it was too synthetic - too many electronic instruments and not enough "live"-sounding stuff like guitars and even drums (apart from on "Get On The Boat") and so I'm currently listing to more music in that vein bt by different artists.
