Absolutely.

I still listen to it at least once a day.

I'm actually trying to hold myself back from listening to it too much, because I don't want to burn out on it. But I can't help myself. "The Dance," "Love," "The Word," "Get On The Boat"...they're all so goooood... drooling

Not to be too retro.. but I remember the summer of 1987, I played the "Sign O' The Times" tape every single day for the whole summer. I had to get another tape. And then I got the 12"s and b sides and that was good for another few months of constant listening..

Yes I do listen to it when I'm in the car. I don't really listen to the album the whole way through..just particular songs..

..I know what you mean about Sign of the Times though. I remember having that cassette and playing the HELL out of it!!! biggrin

In this disposable age, Prince is making half-assed, disposable music.

Had me fooled for a couple of days though.

I still listening to it but not on a regular basis. when someone has a vast mp3 collection like myself, it is hard to listen to one particular album and that included anything by prince.

Being that it was almost 20 years ago, I'd venture to say that you were 20 years younger, too. I remember I was 19-20, I would listen to a CD 2-3 times in a row. But as I got older, and my record collection increased, that eventually stopped happening.

So could it be that 3121 is just as good as it was the day you bought, you're just the type of person that gets bored easier? This is not meant as an insult, just as an inquiry.

I don't think that's it. I think "Sign O the Times" had so many top notch songs, and every song was different. So it kept me listening no matter what mood I was in. and there was so much going on in every song, the intros, outros, so much cool stuff you had to listen over and over and you would still find something you didn't catch before. That goes for many of Prince's older stuff. I listen to 3121 and theres no surprises really except for maybe the breakdown in 'love" and the outro to "the word" is cool. Pretty much straitforward songs and production, with no real signs of genius.

I'll take a cd like George Michael's "Faith" over "3121" anyday just for the different styles, top notch production, etc.

YES...EVERYDAY. I love the begining of Incense and Candles, well really the whole song, but I love the way it starts (YES) . Also can listen to The Word several times in a row, it's just way too funky to turn off. I am getting tired of Black Sweat....hear it everywhere now, so I don't play that as often anymore, so I play the whole thing and skip pass Black Sweat and BL&B....the more I hear the album the more I love it. yes music headbang

the cheesiest most pointless utterance in Prince's career. "Yes"???? WTF?... Yes what? So cliched, so pointless and makes me cringe when I hear it...

The song is alright though.

I'm not gonna front, I laugh when I hear him say "Yes". There is something about it that makes me laugh but I don't know what it is. It's not enough to stop me from listening and enjoying the song. I like it.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

2 the titletrack itself....yes

the rest i listened to as far as 3 times, that is, i didn't like it in the first place and it didn't change my mind...

most overrated album of the year so far, i remember myself beeing disappointed at the graffity bridge album for the 1st time in Prince history.
I wish it was even half as good as that album.

And reading the credits afterwards to the 3121 album, i wasn't surprised the titletrack is actually from the 95/96 period with Michael and Sonny, a period where he really made some fantastic p-funk.

I LOVE the 'yes'! It's a kewl way to start a song to me.

Now, Prince can do some cheesy stuff, but I don't see this as one of them.
