Because plenty of people know about the RnB charts. I can't believe the attitude that some of you people have toward RnB music. I guess you have not noticed that RnB/Rap is the pop music of today. Hello, I downloaded "Black Sweat" from ITunes. I noticed that it was the "Clean" Version. Does that mean there is an "Explicit" version coming? I hope there is a 6-7 minute version out there. Maybe there will be a Maxi-CD with extended version, dance mixes coming out. Chris

It's really not that bad of a thing. It's not like I'm saying that Prince will never write a good song ever again. I've liked Black Sweat from the start, but people here are always predicting that the new Prince single will be his long-sought after massive US hit since The Most Beautiful Girl. They predicted it with Call My Name, Musicology, and Cinnamon Girl, and it didn't happen. I'm positive that it won't happen with any song from 3121, too. Prince is too old for the young people, and too young for the old. It's just not what he's good at anymore. [Edited 2/22/06 17:18pm] ----- "Prince is too old for the young people, and too young for the old" What does this mean? Did you go to any of the concerts in 04?. Lot's of different age groups at those shows. Radio does not have the foggiest clue about what people want to listen. Why do you think IPODS are popular.

Good to see the Black Sweat EP as the number one album on iTunes for the last few days; I wonder how long it can sustain it. When are they drawing the winners for the Purple Ticket anyway?? "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

From the New Yorker:
"Though Prince may never again approach the astonishing levels of his eighties work, he is still capable of felicitous surprises. “Black Sweat,” the second single from his forthcoming album, “3121,” is one of them. Reaching back to “Kiss,” at least, Prince takes a foundation of James Brown funk, strips it down, and deforms it brilliantly. The music is reduced to a sharp drum pattern with a very loud high hat, a keening keyboard line, and falsetto vocals. The words depict Prince in a bind: “I don’t want to take my clothes off—but I do.” Prince, bravely, confronts this ambivalence and accepts that he has “a job to do.” The title is a subtle jab at anyone who wants to whiten Prince’s musical lineage, and the song is sharp enough to stand alongside those produced by the current keepers of the funk." http://www.newyorker.com/...recordings
