He was sat upstairs for the beginning of the evening on a table with Tamar, dressed in a black suit with flared trousers. He looked fresh faced, exactly as you'd see him in the pictures. When I managed to speak to him he gave me his full attention (even though he didn't know me), smiled and politely answered my question and shook my hand when I offered it. I was lost for words but congratulated him on his performance and wished him well. At about 12.30am he and his entourage moved downstairs and was seated at the corner table of the dancefloor area. The DJ dropped two Prince tracks - Sexy MF and Kiss when Prince arrived, announcing the the man as a "legend" over the PA. Prince later danced to two funk tracks on the dancefloor with Tamar amongst the other guests (with two security nearby). He did one of those funny gestures where he wipes his forehead with his handkerchief from his suit pocket, looking bemused after doing a funky dance move. Surprisingly, most people in the vicinity didn't seem to notice him (they were probably too drunk on the free alcohol or didn't expect such an occurrence - not everyone knew Prince was actually in that area). Funnily, when the DJ dropped a MJ track, Prince stopped dancing to be seated back at his table in the corner! I can't remember what track it was, but it was one of the pre-Off the Wall ones. I make a passing remark that he should do the moonwalk, to which he laughed as he headed back to the table. He remained seated in the area behind the table with Tamar for the most part of the rest of the evening. Other people (some from Universal, I'm guessing and Lalya? from Mystique I think) joined him at various points them and he engaged in conversation. Several other people were introduced to him and he proceeded to talk with them. He seemed relaxed and friendly towards them throughout. The other band members (the bassist Josh, the drummer and Morris Hayes) were sat at an adjacent table and the dancers (from the photos) enjoyed themselves on the dancefloor. Two large security staff guarded the area in front of the table. At about 1.45am he was seen at the table looking at something on a laptop with his photographer, Tamar and some of the female singers for about 15 solid minutes. It seemed quite relaxed, they laughed at whatever they say on the screen. Perhaps they were reviewing pictures of the concert. He left at around 2.15am and just before doing so saw he asked his assitant for his sunglasses to put on to face the lightning storm of the papparazzi. Rumour has it that he'll might be back in London in a few months time... [Edited 2/15/06 22:54pm] Thats a cool report Its great to here inside stuff about him FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". ImYours said: I have to say that having Wendy, Lisa & Sheila E. on stage, along with Tamar and the trio, and Mr. Hayes makes me think there's something very significant about this album and tour. One thought is that there have been so many reports about his health, and bones, etc., that it makes me think maybe it's his last. It also makes me think that he just wants to surprise the heck out of the people, cuz he feels confident about the new music. And there really is no telling how the new album will sound, given the wide range of the songs we've heard so far. Well, I hope it's the latter, and not the former! But I can see your point... Just in case, I guess I better make sure I get to at least one or two shows on this tour! "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

So what was your question? I hope it wasn't "Do you know where the toilets are?" and rather more "Any idea when you are going to be touring the UK next?"

You know what? I had that exact same feeling on that last night of the very last Celebration (2002) and I said as much to a couple people who disagreed with me and assured me that "No, there's no way Prince would stop the Celebrations!" - and at the time I was glad they disagreed and felt I was mistaken and reading too much into things, but sadly it turned out my gut feeling was correct and that Celebration was the last real one he held. At the end of the concert that last night I'd just had this sense that that fabulous week, where Prince did soooo many amazing things and everything was just soo incredible and beyond anyone's expectations or anticipations, was a kind of 'go out with a bang' or a 'farewell' thing. Of course, I hope this year or in an upcoming year I am proven wrong and he has another Celebration! So I'm not going to knock your thoughts that possibly why there are so many significant things happening already regarding 3121, or why Prince is going so all-out promoting it is because this is his last. You never know. I do hope your thoughts are incorrect, however.

Just to echo everyone else, the photos are great and I can't wait to see our hero later on tonight!
I hope this renewed friendship with Wendy, Lisa and Sheila turns into something creative, and we get to hear the results.. I can but hope. It will be so odd to see Prince on a show with contemporaries who weren't even born when he released his first album. We'll never see his like again, that's for sure! April 15th in America, this weekend if you're an HQ member What channel? BBC America? VH-1? Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

How long was the performance and how much of it is going to be aired on the reruns? Does anybody have an idea?
Was he the last performer though? They usually give the long set to some classic performer each year.

His assistant is dating Terrence Howard (you know from hustle and flow). Yeah, I was a bit confused about why they wouldn't play his new stuff either, especially after he had just tore the stage up at the brits All the other kids would luv2luvya...but you're my little private joy
