I know prince is pretty damn cool, but has anyone ever witnessed him makking a mistake during his performance...like the grammys of 85 when the mike hit him in the face during baby im a star...funny stuff o rthe infamous mj, james brown thing...

like many, i've heard him and his band mess up a few times i.e. forgotten lyrics etc. Also, i notice that prince usually counter balances a mistake with a little flash of brilliance.

take the rave dvd. during gett off he fucks a guitar line up by hitting a really bum note. i imagine most people wouldnt even notice. prince does though, of course so he just blasts out a slick guitar line.

similarly, is it the 'nighttown' bootleg when he fucks the vocal up on question of u. he says to the band "i'm not feeling it...take me to the top". the band do a turnaround and start from the beggining and prince nails a solo and then hits the vocal beautifully.

Yes!! During the Forever In My Life performance in the Sign 'O' The Times Concert Movie, he trips over the mic!!!!

notice in the Syracuse '85 video (when he's sharing the mic with Brenda) that he starts to sing a "Purple Rain" verse a couple measures too early and catches himself at the last second -- i guess he just got caught up in the moment
he forgets his lyrics sometime
no matter, he's awesome at improvising so no one hardly notices when he makes a mistake -- he just turns it into something new -- "did he mean to do that??"

Gett Off 1991 at the Mtv Music Awards his coat got stuck on the mic stand as he was starting off the song. He kept his composure and finished the salacious song and showed his ass!

Well, not really a mistake on his part but during the second show in Houston of the Musicology tour, his pants came loose and he had to go off stage to have them fixed. He sang half of the song from beneath the stage. Since we were so close, we knew what had happened but I'm not sure if the people up in the stands knew. I remember seeing Rhonda and Candy cracking up.

I saw him on the Jam of the Year (Emancipation) tour in Minneapolis. He was sliding up and down theses ramps that were set up on either side of the stage all night. There were fog machines going, too, and I suppose the ramps got slippery as the show went on. About halfway through the show, he did a slide down the stage left ramp and tripped and fell on his ass. And he DID NOT keep his composure that night. If he hadn't, it would have been hard to tell from most seats that he fell because of the fog. But, he fell, got up, took his symbol guitar (what was that worth, $100,000?) and slammed it down on the ground real hard creating a cacophonous rumble. He walked off to the back of the stage for about ten seconds, composed himself, then got back to the mic and gave a hell of a performance for the rest of the show.

and goes to throw it on the floor, little did he realise the gown knocked over the mic and stand, he goes to pick it up with great speed and wacks himself in the neck while saying 'HEY!!'

and im not sure on the others because its been a while but i think it was the rosay o'donell show, he was performing a song from emancipation with his white symbol guitar and he didnt press the pedal properly before a guitar solo and had to go back for a second press.

i dont know if you would call it a stuff up
but i think he was performing why you wanna treat me so bad, wearing gold pants.. watch his band members having random turns doing the back up vocals and confusing themselves

Dropped the mike in Manchester 2002 ONA, just pretended he meant it and continued to scream on the floor, lol

Not his fault but During 'nothing compares 2 U' at Brixton, London in '98, there was a technical problem with one of those fake flame machines either side of the stage, there was this weird BRRRRR noise on stage, he stopped his performance, a roady came out and fixed the problem, then Prince continued and tore it up. it was towards the end of the gig i believe. unless i'm going mad.

My elderly auntie was waiting outside the venue as i was staying at her place a couple of miles down the road in Streatham and his car nearly ran over her foot post-gig, so his driver nearly fucked up too. she was in her late sixties, she was however made up that a car carrying Prince nearly run over her foot!
