I remember back in 84 when he was filming his Pepsi commercial and there was this pyrotechnic stunt that went awry and it ended up burning his Jheri curl and he had to go to the hospital.

Just be thankful, you've not seen cups of soda or beer(?) being thrown at Prince and Big Chick after they exited the JB/MJ debacle stage right, if i was computer literate i might one day have posted it, but in all likelihood not, seeing as there's only about two dozen people on the planet that actually own that footage (myself included, obviously, and there's £'s to be made one day), i'll make you sweat. I must admit i panicked as the you.tube.com footage went on slightly longer than the footage that's usually posted so i was sweating a bit myself. I'll put it this way, JB was very gratious to Prince in his autobiography about the events that evening.

That's all i'm saying.

It belongs, every month/week/day that comes up it seems. I personally love it, so what? he fucked up, i would've been a bit freaked too, called out like that (show us what you can do impromptu}. Still a lot of cheers though. Classic (although that isn't the full version, it get worse)

it gets worse ? oh no. he performed poorly in front of one of his idols, failed to get the crowd to get into him at all and then, to pour salt in the wound, has a stage prop fall on him.
i don't even think i wanna see what could be worse than that.

-----
After reading about this performance for years and how terrible is was I really don't see the big deal. Mike did not do anything spectacular and P did not go anything spectacular. Knocking the prop over was embarrassing but hey I am sure he did not know it was not nailed down to the stage. In addtion, I don't think he was drunk or high just unprepared and being in a Chippendale dancer mode (LOL)

I guess it just goes to show how people on this board do nothing but blow stuff out of propotion.

Whatever dude. People were not always feeling P back in the day. Especially older black folks and older rock fans.

After all a bunch of Rolling Stone fans threw rotten tomatoes and food at him in
"81".

The beginning of "Sign'O'The Times" MTV Awards performance where the mic gave him some stick. Never fully recovered in my opinion.

I mean the "Gett Off " MTV Awards performance! The "Sign ' O ' The Times " performance was INCREDIBLE. One of the great Prince tv's.

Well, not really a mistake on his part but during the second show in Houston of the Musicology tour, his pants came loose and he had to go off stage to have them fixed. He sang half of the song from beneath the stage. Since we were so close, we knew what had happened but I'm not sure if the people up in the stands knew. I remember seeing Rhonda and Candy cracking up.

wow, I don't remember this and I was front row (could just be my memory).....but that is hilarious.

Ok gotta admit. Not what I was expecting. I thought he pulled the damn prop on himself while he was still in the middle of the stage performing not as he was exiting. This, as you said, is not such a big deal.

By the way did Mike have on courderoy pants? falloff

those mistakes prove the man is human and still the greatest live performer around in my opinion...i was watching the philly musicology show and was like oops when the mic fell...also at the florida show he 4got the words to sign o the times and just stopped and went into the next song.....also in philly he seemed to 4get which verse of those changed lyrics in DMSR and just said they funky on this side as the band continued singin he picked back up on the next verse wink all good tho the performances were great i watch them over to compare each show.

Sorry doll, after hearing about this video for the better part of 6 years I just felt it didn't live up to the hype. And, neither of us said his ass was spectacular. Personally it's not the biggest goof I've ever seen him make. The smack in the face with the mic was funnier. You can hop down down off your lil' "Prince ain't perfect" soap box now. Nobody said he was.
Jeez some of ya'll mofo's act like everbody supposed to agree on every freakin' thing discussed here concerning P.

Now.. long walk, short pier. Thanks.

Co-Sign just not the big deal that it has been out to be for years. Hitting himself in the face with the mike on T.V was worst and having Rolling Stone fans throw garbage at him.
