damn P.

just heard the new song today and even though i love u like family (check my avitar name) I cant get into this vegas /jazz/lite artist u have become over the last decade...I love u...and whenever u come to town i will be in the house but...like the last 3-4 releases you have put out...this one will be of very little interest to me...again i love you, but Id rather hear a real bossa nova artist...or a real jazz artist...or a real lounge singer... (well maybe not) wink ...unlike the sheep or newbie fans on this site, I dug u musically when u were an original and "UNIQUE" FUNK /POP/ROCK artist...

B4 i get flamed by the sheep i will say....I am entitled to my own opinion and if u dont agree i dont care...signed...A fan of what once was 4 life !!!

The song to me sounded like the last sounds of light before falling into the void of a blackhole. The words roll off his toung with emptyness of meaning. I find this very sad.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Well said indeed.

The song sounds pretty. Pretty forgettable.

Remember when Prince singles had catchy melodies and memorable hooks?

I can't understand why he's not stretching himself anymore.

I am not one to bitch about his new songs comming out, but This just sounds FLAT! it's like the bell in the Polar Express, it just doesn't ring, and I don't think believing in it with make the ring come alive. I hope, and I pray that this is a grand mistake on the part of the new albume. I am not however getting my hopes up. Maybe prince should retire and put him self out to pastor. Or, at least what ever he has been doing he should 180 and run. This song doesn't talk like his others did, it's like the white noise of static in the background of life.

you know, I never much thought of that money song, but it does seem a little like it, but at least that money song wasn't so flat. I just this tune is very flat.

Well he is certainly past his best, but i think he still makes good music most of the time. But you are right he doesnt make em like he used to in the 80's and even the 90's.

it's great music to put on when you aren't able to sleep....i can't believe he would do this shit. And no i don't care what nobody say, i've been reading some of these threads under this topic, and a lot of people are bitchin' off of the fans who want the old Prince back.....i can understand

not saying that I want another Purple Rain album part duex, or another SOTT, or Lovesexy, and no i'm not saying get Kanye to produce one of his tracks neither with 50 cent singing the hook....what i'm saying is this

yes P is hittin' 50 yrs old,
no, I don't expect him to be jumpin off of piano's again
but yes, i do still expect to hear the legend of the OW-WAHHH

and what I want....

the creative, not giving a shit genius

not this safe, jazzy, cafe shop music that you play while you trying to write a 20 page term paper for school...

AWWWW THERE I SAID IT, i feel so much better now... biggrin

i'm trying my best to stay positive here to hope that maybe this the calm before the storm that we all are looking for in him....

I've got about another 30 minutes before I hear the song for the first time but I can tell from all the descriptions of the song that it is not something I would like.

I called a longtime friend and fellow Prince fan this afternoon to tell him to be watching VH1 tonight and he had already listened to a sample on I Tunes. I had to hold the phone from my ear because he was cussing so loud about the song. lol He even went so far as to say that he would not be buying this album on the day of it's release like he always has and asked me if I was. I told him yes and he asked me if I would please make him a copy of mine so he could listen to it first and decide if he wanted to buy it because he was tired of throwing his money away on bullshit albums. I told him "Of course, you don't even have to ask, you know I'll hook you up".

He has been a fan since 1979, like myself, and has adjusted and tolerated all the changes throughout the years. He hated "The Rainbow Children" and "Musicology" all the way through but, as I told him before..."Now you know you have to listen to that shit some more for it grow on you...this ain't the old Prince before 1984...do like we've done since 1985 to the present, give it a chance for some of it to grow on you." He works two jobs now so he hasn't listened to those two albums enough. Regardless, I can't blame him if he's finally fed up after all these years.

prince is selecting his fans, selecting his label deals... you think the 2000 decade prince isn't good? does this mean you want mayte back?

these days artists make crappy songs that only succeed because of good word of mouth and 100000 times replay in various media and the artists face is in yours 100000 times but people WANT them to succeed, and prince needs fans that want his songs like that

especially when these artists go live, don;t you regret ever wasting a minute on them? but prince can promote his songs when he's live.... prince is aiming to make us want him do his songs live?

everyone has their opinion, i understand but prince deserves better fans honestly i think prince songs have always been good for nothing...you gotto love him for him or you're done

I heard it about 30 minutes after I made my post. There have been so many threads concerning this song that I can't remember which one I posted my description on. lol

To tell you the truth, it's not good but it's not as bad as I was expecting it to be (after hearing everyone's descriptions). It's very generic, kind of like "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold" but with a Spanish feel to it.

I'm cool with a slow song, as long as it has a sexy sensual appeal to it and something about it that says "Prince" such as "Do Me, Baby", "International Lover", "Scandalous", "When 2 R In Love", "I Hate U", etc. You've seen my posts over in the Non-Prince section so you see what kind of slow jams I like....mainly falsettos and sexy songs like the ones by The Stylistics, Blue Magic, Heatwave, Switch, Earth, Wind, and Fire, etc.

This one was very generic sounding, especially coming from someone like Prince. It was also very adult contemporary and pop and you know how I feel about adult contemporary and pop. lol I see he had that DAMN orchestra back. I had hoped he had moved past that nerdy "Parade" type classical "Waldo" type music and never looked back. lol

Overall, I've heard worse from Prince. It doesn't bore me NEAR as much as "Sometimes It Snows In April" or the whole "The Truth" album. You know how I enjoy getting my shots in on those songs. evillol

Honey, unless you name some of the people, and provide proof that you have jammed and worked with these people, don't even go there. And don't make me have to school you on what a sheep really is. Some might say that you're being a sheep just because you're going along with so many others on here who only like Prince when they can pigeonhole him in as a funk artist.
