Sure I would. I'd tell him I had a bunch and I would gladly trade them for quality versions if he released them! I'd tell him he's a great live performer and he shuold be complemented on the fact that I have nearly every single performance of his that's been recorded biggrin What?

LOL, yes, it'd be interesting to see if how many folks say yes...versus how many folks howled in outrage at the idea of owning boots that rob Prince of his due, etc. biggrin

And of course it would be MOST interesting to somehow determine how many fans in the latter group actually have bootleg collections!! razz

nod

exactly. i just don't believe that there are people who've been fans of the
man for more than 10 or 20 years and never in all that time bought a boot!!

and what's more all this moaning and pissing vinegar about boots robbing an
artist of their due is getting on my tits as well.

especially with Prince and his NPGMC now, if he feels wronged by someone in
the audience taping "NightTown" and bootlegging it, he could simply put the
concert on his website and sell it for $ 7,- or something like that.

it doesn't cost him nothing and he uppercuts all the bootleggers. but no.

so if he asked me about my bootleg collection i would probably piss him
off severely within a minute, eventho i probably didn't intend to lol.

Prince,
I have tons of bootlegs and they are by far some of my favorite possessions. They are what I consider to be the REAL Prince. I will gladly pay you nearly any amount of money for high quality versions if you STOP making new music and start releasing what's in the vault.

same here. but i would tell him that i would never hand over my boots for anything, because i like the rawness of them, lets face it, the mans not giving us anything as brilliant as he use to. in that i mean nothing shocking and i say that with love. there is nothing this man could do as an artist to make me stop buying his music.

No, lol i mailed it. A few years ago Prince asked that everyone send him their bootlegs. There was a bag inside the door of Paisley Park where you could drop them off. There wasn't a late nite jam that week so i mailed it.

I thought about copying all the boots I have onto MP3, and mailing in the originals. The more boots he sees, the more he might think "wow, people love this stuff - I guess I should release more". At the same time, I'd still have the tracks to listen to if I wanted. Alas, the effort of actually doing this meant that three years or so have gone by, and I've done nothing of the sort...

Agreed. He is (imo) one of the few musician who always sounds better live than on his albums. I admit, I do feel sort of dirty buying them since he is not receiving anything from me purchasing a TB release --but once I hear how great the shows are I forget how dirty it makes me feel and I WANT MORE. biggrin

(Right now I'm listening to Eye Wish U Heaven from the Dortmund show. "I'm lookin for the FUNKY people!" headbang)
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I would say the same exact thing, love. I would then ask him why he never released "The Dream Factory" and "Camille" because they are outstanding pieces. And then I would ask him some questions about a few of them, like why was "Get Blue" never released as a single and what was up with "Corporate World?"

Hell yeah, I'd tell him! Then I'd try to discuss with him what I (and 99% of his fans) want to see him do with the NPGMC: release all that vault stuff!!!!
