The Undertaker, LOL.
Unreleased, and no one has heard it.
It's pretty nice, but Prince can do way better, LOL

Aside from the promo CD release, and Mavis Staples' recording of the song on 'The Voice', two recordings of 'The Undertaker' have been officially released:

1. "The Undertaker" - recorded June 14 1993

Performance at Paisley Park originally released December 6 1993; subsequent release March 6 1995. Formats: VHS video and LaserDisc

2. "The Undertaker" - recorded September 8 1993

Performance at Bagley's Warehouse, London released March 6 1995. Formats: VHS video and LaserDisc.
.
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I can see where DaX is coming from, though I dont think "weak" is the right term.

There is no denying that his solos on the recent tours (One Nite Alone, Australia/Hawaii '03, Musicology) have been consistantly top class. However keep in mind that the whole theme of these tours has been "real music by real musicians". There was a greater emphasis on the music moreso than "the show" (ala Purple Rain, Lovesexy, Diamonds & Pearls etc). Prince has given himself more space in his shows to prove his skills as a talented musician as well as an amazing showman/entertainer (not saying one is better than the other - apples and oranges!)

1) why people gotta be soo pissy about someones opinion.?....just disagree for christ sakes...any thread title can be elevated to a good discussion....

2) i'm getting the impression that "trained" ears seem to agree to an extent with the the title of the thread

and

3) i dont care about "technical skills".....i am one of the crazy "feel" the music type of person...hence my not minding that mary j blige never hits a right note....and i cringe at celine deon's technically sonic voice...

so....thats my take on it.....thanks for an interesting thread... people bitch about repeated threads...people bitch about opinion threads....people around here just seem to like to bitch.

I cannot believe so many people are getting upset by Dax's post. Prince has been hailed by professional, legendary guitarists and various other musicians for years. If Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and the like consider Prince one of the best they've heard, why are we so upset about a half-assed opinion given by someone on a message board. This thread is laughable. The only response it should garner is "Clapton dude, Clapton".lol

Ahhh, no that would be Steve Vai...he is an alien and nobody can touch him. 6 strings isn't enough he had to add one to make 7.

You've got to be kidding me!!!???

I saw Steve Vai in concert once, and he came out in this little Purple outfit, very reminicent of the "Purple Rain" era, and went on to do an hour show, totally impersonating Prince. I couldn't believe how much this guy imitates Prince.

Just my opinion but he sucks, as a guitarist and performer.
