Dumb comparison.

I don't really consider Crystal Ball a true album. It's a compilation.

This is VERY, VERY tough for me. These are my 2 favorite Prince albums from the 90s. In my all time list, I have Crystal Ball at number 10 and The Gold Experience at number 11. They are both true winners.

Crystal Ball is not an album, it's a collection of outtakes.
Gold is a real, full fledged album, so why compare the two??

Or is it because there are a lot of songs from the Gold era
on Crystal Ball?

The Gold Experience is one of Prince's best albums nod

Crystal Ball is an interesting compilation with some good stuff on there, but it's not really an 'album' in the same way 'Gold' is.

If it is a choice between getting which album it is hard. CB will get you more stuff. TGE is a more wholesome project.

It is more like I bought TGE already. But I wanted to know on Crystal Ball - are there any Prince rapping songs like P. Control?

I love it when Prince raps!

TGE is easily P's best album of the 90s. CB is okay.

If I didn't own any boots I'd probably go for Crystal Ball as there are some truly classic tracks on there that finally saw the light of day ie the title track, Sexual Suicide, Last Heart, Dream Factory, Movie Star.

If I was hearing those tracks for the first time I would have been blown away!!

However they were familiar to me. Although there is in my view nothing on TGE as good as the tracks I've cited it remains one of his best albums of the 90's and every home should have one! cool

I don't lump The Truth in with Crystal Ball. I see that as a separate album and for me that record beats the pants off both Crystal Ball and The Gold Experience!!

To me, CB was the reason to look up my old boots again, as every previously bootlegged song got EDITED!

Except Last Heart, but it's intro was edited out another song, which also irritates me.

Well, there are "spoken" songs like "What's My Name," "Calhoun Square" (kinda), "Cloreen Bacon Skin," "Love Sign" (kinda) -- things like that. No doubt about it, you'll enjoy many of these songs. I'm just not into compilations. Each flavor on its own is alright, but mixing them all together leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

There are a few rap ones too - 18 & Over, Days of Wild, Acknowledge Me has some. Can't think of any more right now.

When it first came out I liked Gold, but for some reason now, I really don't enjoy listening to it. I tend to listen to only one disc of Crystal Ball, but at least I do play it and enjoy it. So I guess it'll have to be Crystal Ball.
