What do u listen to more?

Hi,
I came to thinking the other day that it is becoming extremely rare that i play an official Prince album anymore. Instead, i generally opt to listen to bootleg recordings instead. Does anydody else do this, too? I can't remember the last time i played an official release! eek

Hmm, i'm not sure. I think that i have just exhausted the freshness of the official releases, listening to them so much over the years. Also, prince reputation as a live performer and his continually changing set-lists makes unnoficial recordings more exiting for me to listen too. i'm not saying they are better, just a preffered listening choice recently.

I only have official releases. I've always thought that bootlegs compromise on the sound quality.

Most of the boots I have are soundboard. The quality made these days is amazing.

This is true, although some fabulous soundboard recorded bootlegs do exist. Then again, depending on the particular show, i sometimes feel that the roughness of the recording adds to the listening experience. Personally, i disliked the ONA...Live! box set because it seemed to 'clean' for my ears. i think i would have prefered it a little more 'raggedy'.

Sound quality? You care about sound quality? I don't even notice the sound quality anymore! I think the last time I paid attention to such trivial thing was like nine, ten years ago. And now it's like, A Place In Heaven - snap, crackle, fizz, pop - all the way. If he'd release an official version oneday I wouldn't even rexognize half of that shit as the same songs.

And yes, I tend to listen to the bootlegs more often - because there are more of them than the official releases. Having said that, I've been lately listening to the official albums again on a regular basis. Think I needed a break from them for some time, and now they're sounding fresh to me again.
