When was this? I didn't hear about it. Who'd she say it about?

If I remember correctly, on one of her many unauthorized video tapes (at least she wasn't nympho in this one), while in London I believe she was approached by a couple of Black fashion-type guys who asked were kissing up to her and asked her if she would model some of their clothes, or something along that line of convo...she pretended to polite to them while talking to them, but when the convo was over, she called them dirty n*****s, caught on tape. And yet, Nicole Ritchie, who isn't White and has been raised by a Black family, continues to associate herself with this trash. Go figure. mad

As a super huge Ani Difranco fan, that would be so v.v.v. cool if she and P. were pals.

Also the jam session musta been outta this world!

As I recall, Prince respected Ani for her ability to release her music independently of major record companies. I'm also thinking that they may have tried recording together but that it didn't come to fruition.

They've already appeared on each others albums.

This is all Elijah Wood said about Prince:

“I’ve always loved Prince. He’s a genius. Or was a genius — he hasn’t done anything great for almost a decade. But the years ’79 to ’88, he was untouchable. He couldn’t write a bad song. I think 1999 is funkier than anything he’s ever done before or since, and it probably contains my favorite Prince songs, from ‘Lady Cab Driver’ to ‘D.M.S.R.’ It has so many different flavors, this album — it’s awesome.”

So I guess you could interpret how you like. I tend to agree with him, actually.

Prince not going has gotten him waaaaay more press then just picking up his award!

Plus Prince has always not given 2 craps about critics & awards. There is nothing more lame then someone going up their with a piece of paper naming off millions of names we the audience can care less about.

If Prince isn't playing at a award show, who cares if he shows up. smile

Awards rolleyes

you're totally missing the point here. the "n"-word isn't exactly just a word, it's more or less an uneducated epithet no matter who uses it in whatever context and it offends a lotta people. it has for hundreds of years now. so no, it obviously isn't just a word. [/offtopic]

Since it's no big deal...you go up to a black person and call them a "dirty nigger" and see what happens.

The word "Nigger" in history and apparently in 2005 is a word white people used to insult, demean, and oppress blacks all over this wonderful country. Black people use "nigga" unfortunately as a term of brotherhood or endearment for lack of a better word. I wish the word was demolished all to together so that un-informed people wouldn't think it's no big deal to use it.

i could care less about these hollywood type parties where everyone is there to shmooze each other and eat fancy chocolates and hear new Prince jams....
hey wait a minute!Prince should give all his die-hard "fams" some of those fancy chocolates and let them hear his new song first, after all, aren't we the folks that shelled out our hard earned $ on the likes of emancipation and new power soul?
i wonder if he made the rounds at his fancy chocolate party and spewed his religeous beliefs upon the likes of paris hilton or jessica simpson, seems they need more spiritual counseling than i do....
i guesse i am just jealous that he has these big, fancy bel-air parties for the people who dogged him or completely forgot about him throughout most of the late 80's and all of the 90's really...why do they get to hear the new song first?why do they get "fancy chocolate"?
all i can say to Prince is-dude,your next album better knock my fucking socks off!i am tired of cheerleading an artist who constantly puts out substandard
material for us to grovel over and then reading about his exclusive bel-air parties thrown for leeches who probably do not own one Prince album!
i just feel dissed.
he should have been there to pick up the grammies that we gave him.
we are the ones who bought up 2 million or so copies of an album chocked to the gills with filler.
show us some respect Prince!you demand it from us,now return some!
im gonna go get me some fancy chocolate and listen to exile on main street.

Please don't think that because some black people use the N word that it is acceptable. It is a put down and when you hear black people using it. It is due to ignorace and self hatred.

As far as Paris and her comments.I doubt if Prince knows about her incident because it has not been widely reported in the news.

It seem that the press can go on all day about Paris and her lovers and so-called T.V carreer but, not about her being a bigot.

As it occurred to you that Prince might be trying to meet music executive to cut a deal for his next recording. Maybe he is working on a soundtrack or trying to get in on a soundtrack project. Or maybe he just wants to relax and some fun.

Whatever, the case he made a good decision not to go to the hot-mess that was the Grammies. The ratings were low and he has gotten more press from his parties then he would have if he went.

i seriously doubt that Prince's idea of "relaxation" or "fun" is hanging out with
jessica simpson,paris hilton etc...
his motives for not attending the grammies were a little more political than that...who ultimately suffers that decision in the end?us-the loyal fans who do not get invited to fancy chocolate parties at his home.
let's see...the loyal fans make "musicology" double platinum,we award his accomplishment with 2 grammy awards, what does he do?instead of showing up and showing respect for the people who line his pockets and heap mounds of worship and praise upon him,he throws a big fancy chocolate party(insert sarcasm here)

In all seriousness, if you were Prince, would you want just regular people to hear your music who might be more honest than fams who would buy anything you put out?

I don't get why fams/fans are going on about why we didn't get invited or whatever but damn, for real. We were front and center for a tour where most of the celebrities were sitting in the back. Shit, if you were him would you invite us to your house? If I were him, the answer would a resounding 'hell no'. Some fans may think we made him, but it ain't like we gotten nothing in return. My two cents anyway.

actually, the "loyal fans" aren't responsible for either of those. if multi-platinum success came down to Prince's loyal fans, The Rainbow Children would be a 3 million seller.

and the fanbase and audience don't vote for the Grammys either.

so,who in the hell bought 2 million copies of "musicology" then?
that is alot of cd's to sell to non-fans isn't it?
the cd's that were given away at the concerts were counted too,i am sure that those concerts contained many, many "loyal fans".
loyal fans also brought non-fans to the concerts with them,i understand that, but, the majority of the people who went to a store and bought "musicology" were loyal fans.
and believe it or not,the grammy board monitors what albums people are buying and what concerts they are attending,so,that being a fact,it would lead me to believe that the fans are responsible for the grammy nominations.
fancy chocolate anyone? razz
