If Usher looks up to Prince as much as he says he does then he needs to exclude himself from those categories where he is up against P because he isn't even in the same league as Prince! he would earn little respect back at least from me if he didn't accept this nomination

Best R&B Song (Call My Name) Best R&B Vocal Performance Male (Call My Name) Best Pop Male Performance (Cinnamon Girl) Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance (Musicology) I think of these nominations, Prince is most likely to take Best Pop Vocal and Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance. Because Whiner, er, Usher, and Kanye West are nominated all over the place, they'll probably pick up in all respective categories. I'm not sayin' I don't like Usher, I'm just sayin' that the next Michael Jackson he ain't, but he thinks he is. Now then, FIVE NOMINATIONS?!?!?! WOO-HOO!!!!!

Besides Anita Baker, no one else should even be consider as competition for P. He should win hands down. John Mayer, huh please. Better sit yo azz down somewhere. He should have been nominated for album of the Year though which is disappointing that he wasn't but hey he did get five!!!!

But Grammy noms? At least there are only 2 (if I counted correctly). Keith/Kacey Well, I can see what you mean. For me, after she released The Velvet Rope, something happened in her. If she's changed for the better and is happy, more power to her, and if there had been something a little more ambitious and focused than Damita Jo, it would be cool. People hyped Damita Jo as Janet's Dirty Mind, but I didn't get that feel from it, except maybe from Sexhibition and Warmth. Oh, well...

I hope he plays the Grammy's again, this time...a new song off a new album blowin' em all away! "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

or better yet, a piano medley with Prince crooning away on a couple gems from One Nite Alone...mmmm "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

Dream on - musicians aren't allowed to perform new material on the Grammys. On the other hand with 3 songs nominated he could perform any of the 3 songs. He could open the show with Musicology with new lyrics suited to the Grammys - "Ushers gonna be there but you've got to call him." Oh it would be hilarious!

If the vocal performance is what's really being evaluated in this catagory, then I would have to give it to Seal, hands down. But I'm glad as I suppose you were that P was nominated.

i remember the "thank you" acceptance speech prince gave in 1984 at the grammy's, expecting so much more, but realizing that's all he really had to say...outkast kind of tried to recreate that moment, but never really could. i remember his last grammy performance, and i was blown away! just like everyone else.....i realized, there is only one prince! i have seen him in concert in atlanta in 1988 "lovesexy" and i'll never forget it, and again in munich, the naked tour, wich wasnt all that, but he really deserves all these awards, i doubt he will win any of them, because of this usher guy, and all the other ones trying to copy prince, all i know is the man changed my life, i grew up on prince, and when i first heard "lady cab driver" i was hooked. forgive him for " the gold experience" , but what a genius he is, that beat of "musicology", those first 20 seconds, and you'll get it. if i ever meet the guy , all im gonna tell him is " thank you" !!!!!
