Judging by the categories and some of the competition, he may have a good chance to win one or two.

I hear you, but I'd be extremely surprised if they gave Robert a Grammy. They don't exactly court controversy.

I'm hoping on Grammy night that we see a few surprizes, but something tells me it will be quite predicible. I can see Usher and Alicia Keyes taking quite a few. I hope Prince gets at least one win though. The list of nominees is very predictible too. There wasn't much that surprised me, but I was glad to see Prince, Al Green and Anita Baker get a nod.

Nah, arr-ruh ain't winnin' nothin' here. And between P and Usher, c'mon. We're talkin' R&B Vocal Performance. They gotta be honest on this one.
Plus, the Grammies aren't always a popularity contest. We can't forget about Steely Dan's Album of The Year win a few years back.

I have to admit that I'm disappointed. A lot of you predicted the shutout in the major categories, but I remained optimistic. I was thinking that this storybook year would end where it began: at the Grammys. But, alas. It won't happen.

Chances are good, based on what I see, that Usher, Alicia and Kanye are going to win them this year.

We ARE correct in predicting the coronation of an older artists who has "returned to form." But it isn't Prince this year...it's RAY CHARLES.

If I have to pick something that DID make me happy, it's Prince's "traditional R&B" nomination. I was just telling students in my media class this morning that most of what is on the radio now isn't "REAL R&B" -- it's hip-hop-influenced, pop-packaged R&B. If nothing else, Prince is being recognized for "keeping it real."

By the way...Can anyone confirm whether or not the Green Day album is THAT GOOD???

U could b right, but the Grammy's are known 4 going against the grain. They are not based on popularity, but on what the Grammy voters think. The most shocking thing 2 me is that Janet Jackson was nominated for a few awards. Damita Jo was so bad that I thought the voters would throw it out the door.

I love Janet as much as the next person but I was thinking the same thing. I don't typically look to her as "quality music." I think of her as a guilty pleasure. I enjoy dancing to her songs and going to her concerts. I have all of her albums. I think she's unbelievably beautiful.

But Grammy noms? At least there are only 2 (if I counted correctly).

is it just me that shocked cinnamon girl got a nom??? how often do songs that don't even get in the hot 100 get a nomination? prince has done it twice this year. cinnamon girl didn't even get onto any radio airplay charts! good going! smile lol

i reckon he'll win at least one, not because he necessarily has the best songs, but he's played ball this year, blew everyone away at the grammies last year, so i imagine they'll be inclined to give him one. i reckon it will be for call my name in some way, even reviews panning it have commented on the vox, so i imagine for that.
