They all have that 93-96 era NPG sound to them. Is that when they were all recorded? And if so, when? Does anyone have the dates?

As for TMBGITW '96 being re-done/remixed/whatever, he probably intended it to go on Emancipation. He sure was fond of recycling it at the time. (the various singles, the ep, it's on gold, sampled in 2morrow, it's a b-side of holy river, etc.). I'm thinking he originally intended to put it on Emancipation, his first independent release. If so, I'm glad he thought better of it. I was very sick of the song by that time. Not just from hearing it so much on radio, but because he just wouldn't leave it alone.
