It's not rocket science. Apart from typos THE VAULT is a grammatical minefield, which means anybody with a tenuous grasp of the English language should easily be able to spot at least a further 200 linguistic inaccuracies. And I'm sure the UPTOWN staff will be grateful for pointing them out. Besides, you don't have to get involved if you don't want to . . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. If I had a copy, I'd be more than happy to search out the grammatical errors and typos, but as such, I do not own The Vault. Oh well.

Pity. I'm quite sure you'd have a lot of fun while you're at it. I suspect you'd run away with the prize too! . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

Let's have some fun. I have already spotted a total of 40 typos and omissions (all belonging to the "Chronology" section). If you have already received your copy then post any typos and omissions you may have found in the first edition. Any volunteers? . Please don't let this place become NPGMC forums because you could've asked your "question" without acting like a smart-ass, that's why. either contribute to the topic at hand and keep your snide commentary to yourself or don't post at all. ain't that hard to do, really.

In the section titled "Purple Music, The Circulating Recordings", time estimates are given alongside titles of currently circulating unreleased songs, or officially unavailable versions of existing songs. Those of us who care about such things can only be grateful for such a helpful way of compiling a survey of this kind.
"All timings are approximate", warns the feature. Which is why I will point to time estimates that either fall short or go over five seconds of what is actually circulating. If anybody begs to differ with my post then feel free to provide soundly argued, reasonable input. Since THE VAULT is being billed as "the most comprehensive and authoritative guide to Prince's music ever assembled" - and there is no doubt that it is - it is only fitting that the following observation is made for the sake of accuracy. p.663: 1983-1984[I] sessions: "Computer Blue #2" (11:57) (12:07) p.666: 1985[II]-1986[I] sessions: "All My Dreams" (7:19) (7:09) p.669: 1987-1988[I] sessions: "Fuchsia Light" (4:06) (4:16) p.672: 1990[II]-1991[I] sessions: "Player" (3:47) (3:55) p.674: 1993-1994 sessions: "Calhoun Square" (4:30) (4:41) p.674: 1993-1994 sessions: "P.Control" (6:33) (6:40) p.674: 1993-1994 sessions: "Proud Mary" (4:07) (4:17) . Based on unreleased songs that have "emerged" since the publication of TURN IT UP 2.0 just over three years ago, issue 57 of UPTOWN magazine (July 2003) continued to revise the information previously published in TURN IT UP 2.0.
Under the 1983-1984 (I) sessions, UPTOWN listed "Erotic City #3" (8:42) as one of the unreleased songs that had "emerged". Shortly afterwards, however, this "outtake" was identified as a fake that should have been consigned to the list of homemade bogus tracks, a fact widely publicised in collectors' forums like Housequake. Not even the new The Work vols. 6-7 (11 disc set) contains this "Erotic City #3" fake. Turn to page 663 however, and you'll find that THE VAULT has not corrected this. . Don't forget the prize I'm offering for your efforts: a spanking, clean looking new transfer "Diamonds And Pearls" London show on DVD. Regarding the above gig I think it's time I outed my own intentional typo: The correct date for that gig is 24th June 1992, not 25th as I'd stated repeatedly. There was no gig on 25th June 1992. Surprised no-one noticed it and gave me a clip around the ear for it... . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

I guess since it was probably written in Swedish first, maybe that is why there are so many errors. Its funny, that one book (Rise and Fall of Prince) had alot too, but people hated that book and seem to love The Vault. Why is that? Good eyes. Besides, THE VAULT is far easier to love than "Fall" because it's so painstakingly detailed. It's quite obvious that a lot of effort, sweat and tears has gone into putting the whole shebang together. It truly is an invaluable wealth of amazingly detailed information at anybody's fingertips and we should all be grateful for it. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs.
