Sorry for using the correct verbage for whagt her parents handed to Prince to see.

Please tell me what I said that was hateful. I am not hating on Mayte. I can question motive. I can state at his one year anniversary of transitioning that it is all about Mayte and tell me the timing is coincidental. . .you cannot.

I just would like to be told what is hateful.

You are not saying anything hateful some people on this board I belive are having some serious health issues or are just minions of Mayte. They continue to ignore things that are obvious as if they keep ignoring facts they will just disappear. eek

Mayte and her parents apparently had no hand in the meet up with Prince at all. Prince was so desperate for a women he contacted her parents first!

Prince would have not been nothing without Mayte's influence as she is a great artist with a long track record of work!

Prince would have been okay with her using their son's death to put a buck in her pocket because you know he went into the details about his son and their marriage all the time and charged money for people to hear it!!!

We live in the era of making up crap to fit the agenda.

LOL!!

The things that are getting pushback are facts; M1 and her family tried with others. Prince was the only one to take the bait.

Prince was the superstar way before M1 appeared. His work that too him to international stardom about the Greatest Romance Ever Sold was Purple Rain. He had LRC and iconic 1999. EVeryone all over the world was trying to be Prince way before Mayte.

M1's time with Prince not many were sniffing for Prince and the 2 of them did not win over the masses. Her work was fine but she cannot even come close to his influence in the 80s . I know he would also refer to the 80s as the best decade and for him it was. The 90s did not compare.

I did not want him to park in the 80s and I love all his decades I am stating the masses and his success. Some of my fav work of his was in the 2000s.

In the 80s and late 70s he had people around him that cared and knew the man. After that well , you see what he had people searching him out for their own shine.

You can try but as I keep saying - the man tried to kill himself while married to her and expecting a baby. He was not a happy man in love. Just saying.

I had initially decided that I was not going to respond to any additional posts but after seeing the bolded comment.....well, here I am. Frankly, this comment is repulsive. To put it mildly. For the life of me, I could not understand where all the false claims, venomous attacks and downright nastiness was coming from. I realized that there are a small faction of Vanity fans that in their, misguided imo, attempts to raise her to a level in Prince's life that she never achieved, they have to disparage those that had a definitive impact on his life.

Obviously, vashtix, I vehemently disagree with your opinion. Prince was very much in love with Mayte. They developed a meaningful friendship that then turned into a deep love. He chose her to be his first wife. He chose her to be the Mother to his children. Please take a minute to read the articles in the following link: content://com.sec.android...2943.mhtml A quote from Prince in one of the articles: Like a man in love, he adds: "She really makes my soul feel complete. I feel powerful with her around. And she makes it easier to talk to God." In her book, she shares some letters he wrote to her that are very telling of the tremendous love he had for her. It is what it is.

There is simply no point in scrutinizing the parent's decision to let Mayte spend time with Prince in his hotel room discussing their career aspirations. It is a mute point as this happened 30 years ago and resulted in nothing more than planting the seed of a friendship. Aamof, Mayte was less safe in her own home with a trusted family friend. Should the parents be condemned for letting that disgusting man into their home? Please, let it go!

There was NEVER an annulment. There is no valid reason to question Mayte's own statements regarding that. In the GENLUX article from Summer 2013, she emphatically denies the annulment story: http://www.genlux.com/mayte-garcia/ The book details events surrounding that entire scenario and after reading it, you understand why it transpired.

(In response to bibrose reply #131) It is common knowledge that Prince was a serial dater. If he chose to date three women at the same time after they split up, I guess that was his business. If he dated Desray, Ananda and Mani after they split, who cares? Again, his business. So what if Mayte identified "The Greatest Romance....." (not "song" as you wrote it) video as "down and dirty"? You stated it was "beautiful". You get an opinion but she doesn't? Smdh. YOU don't get to decide how the editing of Mayte's book is handled. Furthermore, Mani WAS one of two principal factor's that contributed to the demise of Prince and Mayte's marriage.

Someone opined that Mayte was a footnote in Prince's life. No. She was incredibly relevant. He wrote some of his most lauded work during his time with Mayte. She inspired him tremendously. The footnotes are the women who held his attention for a minute before he got distracted by the music or another woman. Vanity, Carmen, Nona, Robin, Apollonia.....

Oh, and TOB.....tsk. I can only smh.

No another person who does not know what they are talking about.

1) There are no false claims most of the info is in the public domain and has been posted on this site many times.

2) TOB claims he has evidence that Vanity and Prince stayed in touch until 2012 and you heard what Prince said at his Oakland show. Even Jill Jones said Vanity was the love of his life.

3) We do not doubt he cared and loved her Mayte but people can fall out of love just like they fall in. " I Love You But I Don't Trust You" listen to the lyrics. He wanted to be an open relationship with her, he left her in Spain, he openly ran around with Mani. He was all but hitting her over the head that he was no longer in love with her. I do not to this day think he tried to kill himself I think he drank too much wine and he even admitted that he use to drink too much in a few interviews in the late 90s.

4) He certainly did not write his most lauded work when she was around. His carreer took an upward turn after she left.

5) She was the one during interviews, being a reality show and bitching about not getting free tickets to his concert in L.A. I never heard him say one peep about her in public.

The real Mayte is the person who was with Tommy Lee? Prince was with 100's of women....

From reading her book. She writes she is told to lie about her age from the age of 3, and again until she is 16, so she can dance in clubs. She writes about her parents cheating, and their on/off relationship as some kind of "love story". She writes that she earned $100K but within a few months of getting to PP and WHILE ON HIS PAYROLL, she writes she is broke - she never accounts for where her money went. She writes her father came to speak to P about her "being taken advantage of because he was writing songs about her" (meaning he was making money) and then writes she didn't get "a raise". Later on she claims P had no idea how much she was making ($300 a week, wages from the Revolution days) and that she got herself a raise. She writes she was docked pay because a hairdresser was eating whipped cream and cookies (like a hairdresser's looks are important behind the scenes!) and claims the accountant told her this was the first time something like this happened in his 20 years knowing full well that others from as far back as the Revolution had their pay docked for various reasons. She writes: I want to be clear. In all the years we were together, I never actually saw Prince doing drugs. He didn’t want me to see it…" which, in essence says, I believe he was hiding it from me. She writes that he "bullied" her into signing something that indicated they were annulling their marriage but claims she didn't read it nor gives the details as to whom it was written for. She claims now to have "lost track" of the urn but she could keep track of china, his clothing and a pair of hand-cuffs across continents for 20 years. She writes that P prevented her from having a D&C when there was no fetus only the placenta, instead of getting the procedure done right away as any Doctor would have done since she was bleeding because they are bound by the Hippocratic Oath to do so, she goes to visit her mother for a while. I could go on and on about the FACTS she misrepresents or manipulates to put P in a bad light but it would take a 400 page book to point them all out.

Thank you. It would take all day to make sense out of the ridculous things she is saying.

The D&C story alone is crazy. Who walks around bleeding and leaving a Doctor office to go a see your mom. Did he bully her into signing the divorce docs since she claims that was never a anullment. Just stupid stuff.

NACN response in bold, dark red text...

No another person who does not know what they are talking about.

1) There are no false claims most of the info is in the public domain and has been posted on this site many times. I am speaking directly to the org members posting false claims in the thread. Examples as follows:
-vashtix Reply #179: the man tried to kill himself while married to her and expecting a baby. He was not a happy man in love. Just saying. P
-TOB Reply #155: I still question the bases of allowing the annulment
-bibrose reply #131: Nobody is disputing Mayte's memories; however, when she makes factual statements that are not true they need to be pointed out to her. A case in point is the video of the song "The Greatest Song That's Ever Been Sold" which she refers to as a "down and dirty" video that P made with a dancer from the Crazy Horse Cabaret place in Paris. The video is not "down and dirty". That is her opinion. The video was beautifully made

2) TOB claims he has evidence that Vanity and Prince stayed in touch until 2012 and you heard what Prince said at his Oakland show. Even Jill Jones said Vanity was the love of his life. Jill Jones knows this how? She also claims Prince broke her wrist. Can't believe YOU think Prince was violent like that?!

Opinion based on nothing but supposition.

4) He certainly did not write his most lauded work when she was around. His carreer took an upward turn after she left. Please.....The Gold Experience, Love Symbol, Emancipation. You are saying this output is sh*t? I think it's brilliant.

5) She was the one during interviews, being a reality show and bitching about not getting free tickets to his concert in L.A. I never heard him say one peep about her in public. And Mani said on, the very public platform, FB that she hoped Prince did not pull a "Charlie Sheen" or some such bull. Where's the outrage for that?

I can’t even address the statements above. Some people just want to vilify her or have their own agendas for spewing all this hate. I think anything said during the years with P or that P said should be taken with a grain of salt. He created, directed, and displayed the narrative he wanted out there. We don’t know if it was necessarily the truth.

.

Now, back to the actual subject of this thread. I always thought it was healthy for her to finally move on and get rid of his stuff (which I’m assuming was stuff left in the house in Spain). Auction for the best $$$, you bet. What was she supposed to do? dumpster? Garage sale?

.

What she did or didn’t say to the auction house? I don’t know, does any one really know for sure? Even if the quote to the auction house is correct, I wouldn’t know the entire context or tone of voice (kidding, angry, etc).

.

With all that said, after reading the book I am now wondering if it was more than the sale of old items. I am wondering if it was a bid to get P’s attention and start a dialogue with him again.

.

Peace,

She says she did a genetic test to determine if she was a carrier of the gene that resulted in their sons medical issues. She says her test came out negative. She wants the world to think it was Prince. Why put that in the book?

Hell, I posted that the genetic carrer for it was the father, usually an "older" father...I posted the entire explanation months ago. Anyone can look it up.

She didn't say it like that in a mean way, either, and she didn't say it must be him or that it was his fault.

She only said that she was tested and her test was negative.

I agree. While Prince was putting out masterpieces in the 80's, his music took a downturn in the early 90's (mainly '93-'98). Artistically and personally, it wasn't his best. The baby passing away effected him deeply, but I also think he had some other things going on privately that he was trying to sort through. It's just a sense I get from the music.

Hell, I posted that the genetic carrer for it was the father, usually an "older" father...I posted the entire explanation months ago. Anyone can look it up.

She didn't say it like that in a mean way, either, and she didn't say it must be him or that it his fault.

She only said that she was tested and her test was negative.

I don't consider a 37 year old man to be an "older" father. Either way, what she did say was that her Dr. told her to "do the math". Since she was the other person involved in the conception, the statement is clear...she meant it that way.

She says she did a genetic test to determine if she was a carrier of the gene that resulted in their sons medical issues. She says her test came out negative. She wants the world to think it was Prince. Why put that in the book?

She said there was no abnormaliry in her dna. The other person in this equation is Prince. Now if we use our powers of deduction, Mayte is ruled out as her genes are normal according to the test. That leaves the other person, the other person is Prince. So we can safely assume she meant Prince.

And again you think that is a loving thing to do for any reason? Let the entire world know that it was prince not her that produced all of that tragedy. "Do the math"...I honestly would not dispense that information about someone I did not like, let alone someone I had loved my entire life. is there anything more private than that information? I think prince would be very very sad she did that...

Peeps were giving their opinion of his music. He was around for decades. Personally I love 2000s Prince. He was just a sexy and grown, the suits, the songs, he was sexy. Some of my favorite songs were then. I was not a fan of the darkness of the 90s nor the attempts at hip-hop and I adore Carmen Electra but not what she put out with Prince during that time. We have opinions.

You call my assessment an “attack” just because I think Prince was not at his best artistically and personally during his time with her. lol Wow.. If you read my post, you would see that I also suggested he may have had some other things going on behind the scenes that he was trying to sort through- possibly unrelated to Mayte as I didn't mention her name in that sentence.

Anyway, there are two sides to every story and I’m just not buying hers. Her side is not gospel truth like some of you assume. There are lies mixed in with some truth. I don’t have an emotional attachment to her like you and some of the others on this board. I can see behind her "love story", veiled attempt, to get attention and $$. I'm not “Team Mayte” whatsoever, but I don’t hate her either. I'm not pretending Prince was perfect. He had flaws but we already knew that we didn’t need her to throw him under bus with her insinuations.

It’s so interesting that you said that. Just in the past few days the FDA approved 23andme to be able to release results of genetic testing for several diseases to people who have genetic testing for ancestry / genealogy reasons. In the past the FDA has not allowed them to do so. Obviously you can’t use 23andme for diagnosis but you will be able to know if you are carrier to a few diseases. Interesting new ruling from FDA. I already took the DNA test with Ancestry.com (and did find relatives) but just today I was thinking of taking the test again with 23andme.

Yes. It is. An absolute attack. You responded to a post that disagreed with my opinon that his work during the Mayte era was lauded. Let me refresh your memory with the exact verbiage. This is what Laura posted:
4) He certainly did not write his most lauded work when she was around. His carreer took an upward turn after she left....to which you responded, "I agree"!

No emotional attachment. I simply empathize with this time in Mayte and Prince's life. I have feelings....those things that make one human.

I know you have no love for Mayte. It's glaringly apparent. That's why your incessant participation on a thread ABOUT Mayte confounds me. But, I get it. You are team Vanity. The numerous threads about her are positively dripping with hearts and flowers and candy. Do you see any participants from these threads over there posting disagreeable content on the regular? Probably not. They are entertaining, though. Everyone is so busy tripping over themselves to kiss TOB's azz. It appears as if you tell him how positively wonderful, kind, thoughtful, etc. he is he might reveal a morsel of info about Denise no one has heard. The woman, btw, who demanded an outrageous amount of compensation for her participation in PR. To which Prince apparently replied....nope, not worth it so buh-bye. Not even batting an eye.

And the "insinuations" are yours. She is simply sharing events as she remembers. You are interpreting things from the book based on your bias.

EDIT: Typo....an absolute stickler about those.

What did I miss? I did not realize TOB mentioned that about Vanity and Prince and what was said in Oakland? You know I enjoy the friendship that lasted decades and leaving earth within weeks of each other- I do not want to derail this thread but I had to ask.

Well the mods did away with Tob thread but he shared that Prince and Vanity communicated via mail and later e-mail. Vanity left him a lot of stuff and he has not had time to go thur it all. He thinks Prince may have paid her medical bills. As far as the Oakland show he said they both loved each other very much and that Beautiful Ones was written about her. Jill is the one that said he took her death very hard.
