I wondered about this too, but my thinking is that in her preaching videos she has a more conservative look because she had to. In other situations, she's still conservative but not covered up to the neck. About a year ago, she put up a new picture on Facebook and she's wearing a black & white dress that I would consider on the "tighter" side and her neck is not covered up. There is also a picture of her face with sunglasses from 2013 and again, she's still very beautiful- no make up and it appears she's wearing a black top- that's maybe a V-neck or button down. None of it sexual at all but she's not completely covered up to her neck either and as conservative as she appears in the preaching videos. So I don't know why he's still using some sexual type lyrics.

In other words, what happened after Vanity married. On the surface, it looks like he self destructed with alcohol, futile casual sex, loneliness and he's forced to look at himself - he doesn't want many women he only wants one; finds God connection; and it ends with references to marriage.

That's the beauty of song lyrics they're open to interpretation. It could be about explaining the decision about marrying Mayte, the last verse is all about marriage. He just writes so much about water though!

I saw it as he's telling her can't you see I love you and you are the love of my life essentially and it's only the 2 of us together (ie. I'm not singing this to 10,000 people). And I guess I see the "place where there is no space and time" as a reflection of just how deep the connection is - that it's just so profound and it's so deep that you know it will continue whatever happens beyond this realm. That's why he's reminding her to remember. Maybe she was having a heath crisis then?

I have the feeling because she requested ''to see his face'' (in 2006-7??) Jet magazine article that is because she hadn't seen him up close and personal in a realllllllly long time so, maybe i wasn't until April 21, 2016 that she got that face 2 face

Yea, no evidence and I agree on the other points. I do remember reading, and I am going to go look for it, but that she died really quickly after going into the hospital. I thought I read that she had pain and went to ER and things went downhill from there pretty quick. It's possible that she felt ok before that and he had no reason to think the end would be when it came. As for asking for money, I'm still stumped by that one. She had a lot of jewelry and other possessions that she was selling/auctioning off on FB. I don't think she was completely broke though because in her will, she had assets to distribute. Of course, the will did say that all debts and expenses were to be paid first, but it didn't sound like she was totally without money. I don't know.

I just had another thought. Based on FB posts, it seems that Denise really admired her pastors, the Harpers' & their marriage. Perhaps that's what she was hoping to have too. Denise and Prince gave each other decades of heartache and suffering and maybe it was too much for Denise to reconcile? Then the religion differences. Maybe there were too many hoops for Prince to jump through- not saying he didn't give a shot or wasn't working on it, but time waits for no one.

There are also clips of a couple showering throughout the video. I'm trying to figure out what the little girl represents- the child version of the girl? I don't know but it is interesting. wow this is a hard one to figure out in general, not just regarding vanity or any other woman in Prince's life.

The song was written in 1995 right after Vanity got married presumably. Strange to write a song about losing someone just when supposedly the romance with mayte was getting hot and heavy, right? I presume its about Vanity and losing her.

The video was done in 2004 and is harder to decipher. The girl has curly hair and reminds me more of Beyonce than Vanity. She is pictured in Medina. She is in a hotel room and the lady with dark straight hair is in her shower. Later she goes to the restaurant where the dark woman is with a man and the dark woman gets the lip gloss out and puts it on her. Then she puts it on herself in the mirror. It seems to be a bad dream. Prince is just playing his guitar in the studio. Finally the woman comes to the studio and Prince puts headphones on her, I guess its the song he just wrote. While she is listening to it he gets in the car and leaves her. So is this saying that if she succumbs to the song and does what it says she will be humiliated because there is a revenge plan behind it?

While she listens to the song there is more drama and what was particularly disturbing is at 3:36. There are many images of the dark woman, the man in the Room Tangier, an apple, and at 3:36 is the girl with what looks like white fur and royal jewelry but her hands are up and they have long demon like talons, on the palms of her hands is written the numeral 5. It goes by in a flash. Its very disturbing.

I've read something of that stature before. I think it's beautiful, that's something that also lead me to concluding that they both had an undying love for eachOther no matter how far in time or distant. The sexual flame didn't have to be lit because they found God in different ways and Denise especially tried to rebuke those sentiments to stay free of those demons of lust she felt troubling her from childhood. It makes sense due to the physical, sexual, and mental abuse she had to live through. I think Prince was always Prince and wrote "sexual songs" because he finally genuinely turned them into God songs. "Cum to revelation" is "Come to revelation" and that's special. Personally, it's hard for me to separate Vanity from Denise because I see a beautiful woman who has just grown. I wonder what her life would be like had she not met Prince and though we will never know, I feel she would have passed years ahead of her time and had an even worse path. It's really humbling to read that she continuously prayed for him and loved him through the darkness.

It is clear her church family knew how deeply she always loved Prince - she told them things per what they say on Social media but none of them reveal much except she loved and prayed for him til her last breath. I love what you said about her loving him through the darkness; her spirit was with him through it all via all the prayers and love - traveled in the spirit world difrectly to him.

I am really diggin this song too, but there is A LOT to explore in that video. I did freeze the frame to have a look at 3:36 because it goes so fast, you'll miss it. It is a reflection of a girl, but what's up with the number 5 on her palms? I wonder why he released it in 2004 if he recorded earlier.

I agree the woman in the mirror looks like Vanity of the UTCM vibe. That sequence has the 30s glamour.

I don't get the dark haired girl but of all of Prince's women she reminds me of Susan Moonsie the most. The man she is with in the restaurant has a purple shirt on. Is it Prince? Then in the nightmare sequence it flashes by that the beyonce figure has taken the moonsie girl's place. The way Vanity took Moonsie's place? And Moonsie is very kind and helps her with her makeup so she can look good for Prince?

I don't know what 5 might mean. There's lots of stuff it 'could' mean but nothing that I can think of to relate it directly to Prince. In the frame with the 5 on her palms she looks demonic. her fingernails are long like talons.

If the Beyonce figure is Vanity is he finally delivering to her the song he wrote in 1995, she gets to listen to it now inn 2004, but he has already left the room. Why does her younger self look at her disapprovingly? the apple has to represent succumbing to temptation and it appears to be the man's hand that takes it. Vanity is seen bathed in green, the color of envy.

Yea, I don't know why he leaves her, if he's saying "come back home baby" near the end. Lyrically, it makes sense that it would about Vanity and in the video I noticed the reflection and girl putting lipstick, but everything else is strange.
