This sounds really interesting.

Although what I don't understand about Mayte, is why she constantly says she wants to rid herself of her "Prince's ex wife" identity and become her own person...yet she pulls this shit?

I mean, lets face it. She's only really still in the public eye because of her ties to Prince.

It's rather sad, because I've seen some of the stuff she did in the '00s (the show she presented, her acting etc) and I really think she could of become someone in her own right.

I don't get all the Mayte hate either. I think if anyone is qualified (more than so actually) to write a worthwhile book regarding Prince, it's her. She's never seemed like she has any ill-will towards Prince to me. The way some people are acting, you'd think Bart said he was writing the book.

Anyhoo, like I said earlier, if the book ever sees the light of day, I damn sure will read it. But of course, if it ever does, I'm pretty sure that would mean Prince hasn't sued her out of existence, so how much down and dirty, real juicy dish could there possibly be? I'd guess - nil to about none.

She has said some of the suprisingly nicest things about him that I've read, and I suppose it is because their relationship was more love focused than work/music focused as many people who have spoken on Prince.

I'd read her book. Hell, her life seems pretty interesting to me. To fall in love with someone like Prince at a young age, have this whirlwind experience, tragedy, and then try to figure out where to go after sounds like a pretty good story...

Plus, I am biased, as I like her anyway. She seems very kind.

"Possessed" by Alex Hahn, is by far the best book about P available

• 10/16/1996 - Son born.
• 10/23/1996 - Son dies.
• 11/04/1996 - Oprah interview taped (so basically, Mayte had 12 days to "get over" her grief and put up a brave face for Oprah.)
• 11/04/1996 - Oh and by the way, their son's death certificate is filed on the day of the Oprah taping...
• 11/09/1996 - The Betcha By Golly Wow video is taped which depicts a pregnant Mayte in the hospital waiting for P to arrive...
• 11/20/1996 - Prince performs on Oprah.

I know we all process loss in our own way but WTF?!?
