Maceo in Seattle 6 shows in 4 days in Seattle at Jazz Alley this week. The fun begins on Thursday, two shows on Friday and Saturday, and one show Sunday. Last year we got a taste of Prince with "Baby Knows". We also were fortunate to have Greg Boyer sit in with Maceo and the band for the last show.....
I am curious how this year's will compare...... Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing

Maceo was in a good mood last night. He was all over the stage, and seemed to be having fun. Greg Boyer played trombone. We'll see whether he does the run of all six shows, or just one like last year. Maceo is still doing "Baby Knows", which I love. We had a "funky good time". Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing

Been to 5 of the 6 shows so far. There's one more show tonight. They all have been fun and different. There is a basic setlist with a few variations depending on the mood. Maceo and Greg Boyer play so well together. It has seemed so effortless. But when you have known someone and played with them for years and years, that's hopefully the way it is. And it is for them.
Not a fan of his version of "Satin Doll", but it is short. Out of 5 shows, hes only played Uptown Up once.
The only disappointment is that he doesnt have Martha High doing Think (about it)/ It Takes Two. He appears to have replaced her with his son Corey Parker, keeping his cousin Darlene Parker doing Stand By Me and backup vocals.
And I really do like Maceo's version of "Baby Knows".... I've never heard Prince do it live, but it would take a lot for Prince to do outdo Maceo on this one. And Maceo plays it every night....
All in all, it's been money well spent for the second year in a row. If Maceo comes back to Seattle next year, Ill be at them again. Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing
