This record really benefits musically in the 24 bit rate. I just hopes he continues with it.

. Depth. The rate is 96 KHz. But does the mastering use the 'room' this format gives? Or is everything compressed as it always was? Do we see a change there? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Thats why I think this material really works. It's hard to say without production credit but "Angel In The Dark" sounds very Josh working with Prince. But it's also Prince being attuned to the modern ear but perhaps Josh fleshing that out.

so who plays on this? | |

I haven't enjoyed this many new Prince songs on one album in a long, long time. I just let it play and never feel the need to skip anything. I think the NPGQ play a major role on the arrangement of this album. I'm really impressed and can't stop playing it. "Wild Tonight" has it's hooks deep in me.

I think the Judith Hill album is great myself, a very pleasant surprise. I wish Prince would do something similar for his next album... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

This is AWESOME. Judith has some soul in her voice. And the music production is fabulous. I'm amazed that an album of this calibur was made available to the public for free.
Thank you, Prince and Judith Hill!

Just listened 2 it twice. Very solid but very generic R&B. i'm not much impressed by Judith' songwriting (I assume and so does Princevault that Prince wasn't much involved in the songwriting, but I know some disagree so we'll see) and overall it's probably not something i'm going to listen to a lot but I find it interesting in terms of what it could mean for the next phase of P's career. . If I am right about P not being the core songwriter, this is his third attempt as a producer (after GCS2000 and Superconductor) and the first 2 times he did little more than swallowing those artists' songs and turning them into typical Prince tracks (to my delight I have to admit). Here he acts as a "real" producer, trying NOT to make Judith' songs sound like his own and in this regard it is what could make this album appealing for non Prince fans. I'm pretty sure that folks who dig Amy Whinehouse, Nicole Willis, Jill Scott and so on could trip on this while Superconductor, despite its superb songwriting, would just have sounded "too princey" for them. . In that sense Prince made his first succesful attempt EVER as a producer (i.e. he ajusted to the artist instead of ajusting the artist to him), and this isn't a little thing, it is a sign of maturity and a major shift of paradigm for Prince given his age and 38 years of career! . With proper word of mouth and promo this could also be some kind of a hit with R&B/new soul audiences, and in that sense it's also an important step because P, while being respected by such crowds, has always failed to be generic enough to please them. . Personally while I find it enjoyable it's not the kind of stuff I'm too much into. But it's a respectable opus and I'm pretty sure some tracks will grow on me as I listen to it again. . This is, at least, my first impression. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

After a few more listens Angel in the Dark really stands out as many have pointed out it has the most commercial sound. Very very nice!
Keep all the FREE NEW music coming P! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

What about the superbly, executive produced, classic "The Unexpected" by Liv Warfield? Who christened and turned in2 a STARA? Doesn't she count? mentored her then she grew in2 GODZILLA! will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! Prince didn't produce this album, only 2 tracks. You are obviously not aware of the difference between a producer and an executive producer in the music industry. Executive producers for one thing aren't involved at all with an album's recording and the artist's creative process, they oversee the monetary, administrative and legal aspects of the recording process (budgetizing studio costs, booking studios, hiring session musicians, clearing rights for samples, the later on the promotion of the record, etc.), something Prince is certainly not going to do himself (he has staff to do this), so his title as an executive producer was most likely honorific. And even if he had personally done the job, this has nothing to do with producing an album, which means overseeing the artists' creative process and being involved in the recording process itself. Why do you think that? Is because yoy think the album is good and you can't imagine Prince arranging something you like? The wooh is on the one!

I had no idea she'd released an album b4 that one http://www.discogs.com/Liv-Warfield-Embrace-Me/release/6756964 Anyway as I said the qualities of her latest album have little to do with Prince anyway. Eye know exactly what the difference is between an executive producer and a producer dude. In fact Eye know everything about the muziq industry! My point was 's involvement in "The Unexpected" is far more important than mostly any project he has done in the past few years. Even though he gave Liv the freedom to create. His vision & Liv talented vocals, drove that whole project to be the most successful protege project has done in DECADES! It's the blueprint to her live performances. So she be included in your list.
Liv has been EVERYWHER!E Because of 's vision & guidance of her career. That started with that album. Judith is next
Sorry 4 the typo! U would think after me seeing her so many times live. I would know.
