I'm downloading it as I type. Any ideas of what Prince's involvement in it actually is? I'm surprised by the positive reaction, and looking forward to listening to it

He produced it

My god. No wonder Prince didn’t go on tour.

If Prince produced this album this is easily the most relaxed he’s ever been in someone else’s lap. Fuck that. If Prince produced this, I think of him now as a producer. I’d gladly pay top dollar for this without knowing there was any Prince involvement (though you can hear him in the background all over the place).

The first track is very recent, very topical, and on fire. A young Etta James hurting people before she sets the mike down and starts swinging for real.

The second track doesn’t let down in ferocity (Prince has a spaz attack from the crowd). The third track sounds like a radio hit. The final track sounds like a Marvin Gaye party held yesterday.

The horns are sick. “Cry, Cry, Cry” is fantastic.

You never know with Prince. That skinny motherfucker with the high voice.

So to whom was this sent? People who applied for tickets for the recent USA shows, or is it something else?

I bought tickets for one of his shows via Live Nation some years ago but receive emails for concerts in my area or any Prince concert news.

My first impression, which is the same I had with Suoerconductor, is wondering why he doesn't release an album that sounds like this under his own name...

Ah fair enough, I bought tickets for Prince last summer but I have no idea whether it was Live Nation or not who did the sales. Presumably not as I don't have the email, which is disappointing given the positive reception this seems to be receiving (and on the org of all places wink)

D'oh! Thanks, stupidly missed that, downloading now. The link works for me ThirdStrike, so there must be a problem on your end.

I started downloading it earlier this afternoon and it was taking FOREVER. Then my computer crashed and when I went back to re-try the dowload, no luck...kept getting an error message too.

We are waiting for a true Prince - Josh collaboration for the next Prince Album as with the single X 's Face and kind of song like Angel in the Dark.....this is obvious that we don't need the 3rdeye Girls anymore!

Yeah he said 2-3 weeks. I'll be honest, before I heard it I thought it may be pretty piss poor, he did good. I loved AOA but after hearing this I feel he could have done so much better.

^ Was going to comment on that too. lol

In the middle of my second listen. It's nice! I struggle a little with the retro vibe dipping into mimicry, like how do you capitalize on that sound AND innovate? Turn Up has some wacky Prince twists. I love the Cure and Love Trip back-to-back. Very enjoyable. Thanks to Prince and Judith Hill. Really felt for her during the 20-ft from Stardom doc so all the best to her. Her vocals on Cry, Cry, Cry... Whew!!

I had tickets at Louisville and I didn't get an email. I just followed the link from here. Good chance P's mad at me, though...

I've only listened to the first song, but it is slammin'. Any word on a physical release for this album?

She can sing! I mean for real. YES!

She's really good , as in she CAN sing - but non-descript as yet... nothing standing out as a unique.

If you're JUST going to sing well, that's great, but if you're going to step up front solo - you need a vision, a point of view, and its got to be so powerful that it compels an album to explain 'you'.

Nice songs are nice. Nice voices are nice. Nothing to make her stand out though against the likes of Jennifer Hudson etc though.

Im enjoying the album. I'll say I've gotten further through this than I have through Madonnas Rebel Heart lololol. So there's that. The music is good. The voice is good.

Cry Cry Cry and As Trains Go By are my faves.
