This record really benefits musically in the 24 bit rate. I just hopes he continues with it.

.

Depth.

The rate is 96 KHz.

But does the mastering use the 'room' this format gives?

Or is everything compressed as it always was?

Do we see a change there?

.

No, Yes, and No.

.

I'm indifferent to the music, but I can see why people are calling it the best Prince-related release in a while.

rolleyes again his name is Prince not symbol and her name is Liv not Liz. Prince had more involvement with Superconductor I am sure the The Unexpected. Both great albums as is Back In Time
She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

Eye know exactly what the difference is between an executive producer and a producer dude. In fact Eye know everything about the muziq industry! My point was prince's involvement in "The Unexpected" is far more important than mostly any project he has done in the past few years. Even though he gave Liz the freedom to create. His vision & Liz talented vocals, drove that whole project to be the most successful protege project prince has done in DECADES! It's the blueprint to her live performances. So she be included in your list.

Liz has been EVERYWHER!E Because of prince 's vision & guidance of her career. That started with that album. Judith is next!

Prince didn't produce this album, only 2 tracks. You are obviously not aware of the difference between a producer and an executive producer in the music industry.

Executive producers for one thing aren't involved at all with an album's recording and the artist's creative process, they oversee the monetary, administrative and legal aspects of the recording process (budgetizing studio costs, booking studios, hiring session musicians, clearing rights for samples, the later on the promotion of the record, etc.), something Prince is certainly not going to do himself (he has staff to do this), so his title as an executive producer was most likely honorific. And even if he had personally done the job, this has nothing to do with producing an album, which means overseeing the artists' creative process and being involved in the recording process itself.

I haven't enjoyed this many new Prince songs on one album in a long, long time. I just let it play and never feel the need to skip anything. I think the NPGQ play a major role on the arrangement of this album. I'm really impressed and can't stop playing it. "Wild Tonight" has it's hooks deep in me.

Why do you think that? Is because yoy think the album is good and you can't imagine Prince arranging something you like?

Prince is usually more undisciplined than what I hear on the album and not quite as advanced with his melodies. Don't get me wrong, I think Prince is responsible for everything we hear on the album in some way. It's clearly his baby. Some of the tracks sound like Prince all by himself with some hornline arrangement, some sound like NPGQ and one sounds like Josh only. I have no problem with someone helping Prince keep his arrangements clean, btw. It will be interesting to see how things are credited if an official release happens.

I'm sure these cuts were part of the NPGQ project. prince just decided to give them to an artist that serves them better. What a very humble thing to do!?

Bullshit. The quality of music is relative to each person. Releasing an album on a digital platform like iTunes works when you have high brand recognition with people that buy new music on a continuous basis.

Gave it a listen this morning, without looking at track titles, etc. Based on that first hearing, I'd say it's the best Prince-related album in a while. The only thing since 3121 that can compete is probably the Elixir album.

Then again, I don't know how much of it is Prince written, or produced. Do we know which songs are his? But either way, it gets a thumbs up from me at this early stage.

Convert the .wav files to .aac. There are many free resources to do that. MediaHuman Audio Converter (?) is one.

I thought Superconductor was stron, too. The three are a string of brilliant protégé albums, with Back in Time being perhaps the best of them.

You're not obnoxious about it or claim to know things you dont. They kind of invite the criticism.

Here's a interesting development. This was just posted on http://www.tmz.com/2015/0...ony-album/ .

"Prince shamelessly stole a recording artist away from the producer who discovered Lady Gaga ... and her company is now going after The Purple One in court.

Singer Judith Hill made a name for herself on "The Voice" in 2013. Sony got interested in her. Ditto Jolene Cherry, the famed producer who first eyed Lady Gaga. Sony and Cherry partnered and claim they signed her to an exclusive recording deal.

A few months ago, Sony and Cherry heard rumblings that Hill was meeting with Prince for a recording session. They warned her to stop earlier this month, only to learn that she and Prince recorded an entire album -- 11 songs -- and released it Monday as a free Internet download."

Probably because he knows she is locked in a bad CONtract. They can't sue Prince for anything really if the project is not for sale. I think Cherry Music may like the album and are gunning for ownership or at least a major portion of any potential profits if it's ever sold. Prince being Prince, though, he can just opt to put the thing in the vault, and go do something else this year, until Judith works out a better deal.

prince is NOT stupid! He is a very smart business man. This is the same man, that negotiated himself out of a signed, iron clad, multi million dollar, contract with WBR. Then went independent.

He knows what he is doing. He has been in the muziq biz 4 36 YEARS.....

He's also the same man who signed that same contract and then went "Oh crap! I signed what? And I had to sell what in order to make the money?"

.

And it took him 20 years of "negotiating" to get what he said he really wanted back in 94, which is his masters. So, negotiating is hardly his strong suit.
