Not that everytime a woman pops on the screen we have to make a judgemet or comment about her looks. People do this shit online with Michelle Obama, too. Who care's if she's pretty or not? Smart women with talent and brains... See that! I tried to hold out the olive branch, but I guess i'm not worth anyone's forgiveness. hopefully, i will never make the mistake of saying mean things. However, i wouldn't say anything mean about someone that I wouldn't say about myself. I'm ugly, okay??? i'm 5'3", thirty pounds overweight (which looks like sixty on someone my heighth), and i've inherited my father's shitty looks. I'm not as evil as i am being portrayed. The proper response here is not for you to get all butt-hurt. The proper response is to take full responsibility for being an ass, sincerely and unambiguously apologize and then shut up out about it.

That's a Prince song, and this project will have no Prince songs on it. It's a totally new, and fresh record. Susannah told the story on the live Q&A about recording that song and not feeling good about it. She took Prince outside Sunset Sound in LA and said "Please, you cannot put this song on the record. I don't sound good on it, it's just not right." She pleaded with him about it, and without much fanfare from Prince, he said, "Okay then." And it wasn't on the record. You'll just have to be haps with the bootleg I suppose, cuz it won't be on The Family 2.0 album.

I tried Chrome for a long time, but it's just not stable enough to do the things I want. It's very limited in some regards, because it's SO stripped down, it almost works against he user. I went back to Firefox for now.

The one true ingredient that made The Family album worthy isn't involved with this desperate attempt reclaim some former half-lived glory.
It'd be like a Time album without any Prince involvement. Apart from 3 or 4 fanatics, who'd give a flying fuck?? Without Prince's involvement, it simply ain't a Family album. Simple maths: No Prince-penned songs + No Prince music\direction = No Point! Move on... I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

The big deal? Some talented musicians who never reached their full potential.

My favorite thing about The Family is thus:
desire it covers our faces
it happens in curious places your body it covers my tower ecstacy is ours... That lyric is so potentially tawdry, but it's delivered with such sweetness... it's one of the greatest stylistic things about Prince's golden era songwriting. Like a sincere emotional horniness. To be fair Paul Peterson and Sussanah are not Prince. I actually fear Paul's songwriting a little bit. The only thing I know about it is that 911-Emergnecy Love song he did way back that my friend, his mom and I used to crack ourselves up over singing out loud. We thought it was so cheesy. It is a given that there are elements of The Family of old that will not be revisted on Family 2.0. However, even Prince doesn't really write now like he did back in the day. That said, what I have heard of the new The Family record has sounded really great. I'm absolutely looking forward to it, and I will be ALL OVER The Family / Wendy & Lisa tour. I'll be as giddy as an 8 year old girl at Jonas brothers concert. It will be fun. [Edited 5/15/09 14:34pm]

ernestsewell said: jdcxc said: What about purely musical questions. The unique barouque funk/jazz sound to their original album (Parade/Madhouse influences).
What about it? And here are their answers from past Q&A's with fans in recent weeks, but I am not speaking FOR them. I'm quoting them based on the same questions asked in the past. Paul has said they should just sit w/ Prince and settle anything from the past, and have him be a part of the project. However Prince has even put the brakes on them using "The Family" moniker, which is why they are using Family 2.0, for now. They are not sure if that will be the final name of the group. Of course others have suggested Family Reunion, Family Album, or just Family. Prince participating in the project is about 0% at this point. Susannah said fans would probably love to hear her say "yes" to having a Prince song on the album, but in fact, it boils down to if she really felt in her heart of hearts that the song would work on hte album. Just to have a Prince song for the sake of it, or for the sales factor isn't what they're looking for. It'd have to be organic to the project, part of it, not some random branch stemming out on its own. They share Prince's new musical independence and business model-what about some questions about that link.
They're both independent. The Family 2.0 will be releasing this CD on their own and are depending on word of mouth and any local street team to help spread the word. I'm not sure if they'll use venues like CDbaby.com or what for the actual distribution. I hope it pops up on CDbaby, iTunes, and other independent outlets. Thanks, your better than the interviewer. Now for some memorable Prince anecdotes from Susannah...just kidding.

The Family's one album was not a consumer hit in any way, but it stands as one of Prince's best side projects ever. The release of the project broke new ground for Prince. It was the first time that he worked with Clare Fischer, a man that would set the bar for the beautiful orchestration on Paisley Park albums. The LP had arguably, some of Prince's finest writing and arranging in the pop genre. Lush instrumentation, melody on top of melody and a refined take on the Minneapolis Sound made this eponymous record an instant classic for Prince many fans. Eric Leeds, Susannah and St. Paul had fairly minor roles in the overall production of The Family, but they brought it to life with their unique touches. The new record is really turning out to be an extension of that late-eighties gem. At least that's what it sounds like to me so far. Time will tell. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Somebody can learn (and learned) a lot from that..... Exactly. And people forget that Susannah and Paul are both songwriters, Paul is an accomplished musician in his own right, as is Bean and Eric. His family sweats music. His 83 year old mother can still play anyone around here under the table. He produced and played all over Oleta Adams new CD that was just released. And with folks like Doyle Bramhall II, Wendy and Lisa on the album, I think this CD is going to rival the first. Will it trump it? Who knows, that's all in a personal definition of taste. But I don't see how anyone will NOT be able to sit still during "Drummers and Healers" when they hear it in a few months.

And I think it took some convincing for Eric to join Prince's fold on the part of Alan Leeds. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
