According to Wendy on the twtter Prince called and told Susannah not to use the Family name.

We definately see how this goes but once Prince made up his mind it is final especially when it comes not wanting others to use the name or music he own for his own reasons. Too bad. Maybe Susannah and St. Paul should use a different name and don't let this stop them from releasing their album as there are quite few fans want that album to release. Prince cant stop them from performing together as long as they use another name.

I decided to start this thread here as it was some talk about it in the MM forum because some people who are the fans of the Family/W&L doesn't go on to other forums on the org and also the Family is under associated artists thread. But I give credit to Militant who addressed this.

I am not suprised by this. I knew it that something like this is going to happen. I thought when St. Paul and Susannah were recording and talking about the Family that Prince gave them his blessing, unless they have intentions to release their album anyway under a different name in case Prince wont allow them to use the name.

Its fine, its not like "The Family" was marketing gold anyhow.
The name was merely for the Prince community, no matter what name the go under sites like this will get the message out.
Sometimes a clean sheet of paper is cool.

Ok this thread title is VERY misleading!!! Them not being able to use the name has NOTHING to do with new album! The album will be released regardless, maybe not as "The Family" but released either way!

By the way Paul might be doing a video stream tomorrow working on Family tracks at wwww.paulpeterson.com 1 P.M. CT. Who knows...maybe he'll mention something about this...

Their Myspace page has been changed to "Family 2.0" not sure if that's the official new name, but I like it.

Thread title is very misleading as well(as others said).

I want to state as well the message I received did not say if they can/cannot release the album under "The Family" name that is still in discussion still.

Ladygirl I know ur trying to do good but you ever think that some thing they may NOT want let out or on this forum. That is why I don't rush over and post things about the twitter site.

If somebody doesn't want something on the internet, then they wouldn't post it on the internet in the first place. I also make a choice rather or not to post what me and her partner/wife Renata posts as well. Its called respect which I have many conversations on other boards besides this with other band members of other bands ty. IF they want me to post something I will , if not then I will respect them and not post it period.On the internet or not, they should be given respect. I shall give them that.

People: My bad if I mislead anyone with the original posting title and therefore I since changed it. I was kinda upset when I heard the Family name news and I thought for a bit there won't be an album. But I am glad to hear they are going to release the album under a different name regardless and there is nothing Prince can do about that if they disassociated themselves from The Family. I changed the title of the thread so more fans won't think this is misleading which I wasnt trying to do. I am disappointed to hear too that Prince and Paul aren't still that much on the speaking terms as I heard. I am not sure if Prince and Susannah are on the best terms as well and since I am not part of Wendy and Lisa circle I am just a diehard fan of theirs, so I can only speculate.
As for the thought of intrusion on the girls twitter, Wendy said on her twitter she wanted like 10000 followers. Also, she and Lisa are eyeing for a big picture: to inform much people as they can to not only know about them but also their way of promote their album. If the girls get their goal accomplished of 10000 would be thrilling and beneficial so those followers can also tell their followers and those people can tell their friends about the album and Wendy and Lisa and so forth. Even though their twitter remains public viewing, at the end of the day Wendy and Lisa still hold the cards of what they want the fans to know and what they don't want them to know.
