I guess I don’t understand why J.J. and some people on here are taking the pulling of the video personally. It was posted on youtube illegally and Prince’s people pulled it off of youtube as they did with all Prince/Paisley Park productions. Whether or not we agree with his attack on youtube is another story, but it is still his right.
Jill Jones had a link on her site to an illegal youtube posting. He didn’t yank it off her site; he yanked it off of youtube, which of course rendered her link dead. Paul Peterson’s link to the Screams of Passion video also no longer works – it too was a link to youtube. However, The Family’s re-recordings of songs that they uploaded themselves work fine. Prince wasn’t trying to go after his former associates with the pulling of videos he was targeting youtube. If Jill Jones had uploaded the videos herself on her site and it was pulled without consultation then I would understand why people are annoyed. But that wasn’t the case. I’m sure Prince didn’t even know that Jill had a myspace page - although I’m sure he’s heard about it now! | |
