My point was that people are acting like Prince went to JJ’s site and yanked the video, which he didn’t. All he did was yank it off youtube, the domino effect was that all links (including hers) pointing to it no longer worked. Yeah, it sucks, but it wasn’t a personal attack on her.

If she personally uploaded the video on her site and he sent her a cease and desist and pulled it, I too would see it as cold. But that isn’t what happened.

I was simply giving Prince the benefit of the doubt. My point was that I didn’t believe he was trying to personally slap Jill in the face. Like I said, I’m sure he had no idea that she even had a myspace page or what was on it.

If she rang up Paisley Park and said, “Hey, can I upload my video?” and they said “No”, then yeah, I would see that as pretty shitty. But that didn’t happen either. I’m not saying that it wouldn’t happen; I’m just saying that isn’t what went down.

Making an unsubstantiated claim (slim) that Prince didn't specifically go after her video (you didn't state how you know that so there is no basis to support it as truth) that is probably accurate is still no exemption for Prince. Jill is free to talk to him about letting the vid go - that's on her. You still can't truthfully exempt Prince from having any hand in it because SOMEONE submitted the list of videos. It is in line with his current behavior as well or have you people missed the banner when you come to this site? Cease and desist letters and other crap isn't enough evidence for you? Prince often kicks his fans and some are quite the masochists. I'm not. Dude is an ENTERTAINER to me.

I think it is really stupid to get personally involved and over emotional when people don't see things your way on fansites. If it bothers you that much, then stay the heck away from them. It is not exclusive to Prince, if you go to janet, madonna, mj, snoop dog or whoever website you will find the same thing. You're getting off topic and so am I by addressing your posts. The issue is the removal of the video. Prince is still responsible. My "opinion" (fact based as it is) still stands. Web Sheriff is not acting on its own no matter what you try to say. They are a service. They get HIRED. Do you understand that? You mean to try and imply that Prince didn't hire them to do what they do? Are you SERIOUSLY trying to say that? Come on. Be realistic.

If you see my comments earlier in this thread, and other threads, I have made it quite clear that I think that Prince and this youtube thing has gone overboard. I think the taking down Jill Jones video is messed up but as another poster stated there are other Associated artists videos I noticed he has not touched. Does that mean anything, maybe not. The Internet has changed everything and Prince should simply find a way to stay ahead of the game, which I thought he did when he gave his cd's away. Frankly, I believe he realizes this battle is lost because you cannot stop these types of 24/7 days a week websites, you take down one, five more pop up. You would think Web Sherrif would throw in the white flag and tell Prince its useless but he's just continue to collect the check.
