What I don't understand is why now? I know this isn't the first time Prince has gone after fan sites. In fact, I found prince.org years ago when the founder of the site Prince Family (I think that's what it was called) decided she had had enough of Prince's demands and just decided to close down the website. She seemed pretty cool and it was sad to see it end that way.
I know I've always defended Prince in the past, but I have to say these actions by him and his lawyers seems way harsh. But I also have to ask: Is this all Prince, or is he getting some really bad legal advice? I remember back during the Purple Rain days when his then legal team went after a Prince Spaghetti commercial. Prince later said he thought the commericial was funny, but apparently his lawyers, which I'm guessing were WB lawyers, saw things differently. I just hope Prince and/or his lawyers take a deep breath, and realize they are going after the very people who care about Prince and his music the most, apart from his friends and family. | |

Because every time he gets a little bit of positive press or mainstream attention or success, he runs to the nearest toilet to take a dump on his collective fanbase. It's clear that the words in Prince's songs are hollow and without conviction. How can you write a song about love, compassion, forgiveness, fun and joy when your actions clearly show you don't beleive in those things? Most artists embrace their fans and are comfortable with a little admiration and criticism, especially after the success Prince has enjoyed all these years! Hell, as much as I like(ed) his music, he's no George Lucas and that man has embraced fans of his work having a little fun and contributing creatively. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PRINCE? ARE YOU THAT INSECURE??? GEEZE! well I'll be damned if I'll buy another CD or attend another concert. He's done a good job of encouraging this fan of 22 years to call it a day. Well all of this, has got me very confused. Being that I am one of the thousands looking at this from the outside, not knowing exactly what Prince is thinking or trying to accomplish. On the one hand I can understand, but on the other it seems it might be going a little to far. It lately seems more like a ego problem than anything,sorry Prince but the truth is the truth....We all deserve our rights, and the respect that comes with it, but we also need to ask ourselves how far we are willing to go to get that respect.. been thinking abouit this and it seems to me that 1) the copyright infringement lawsuit thing snowballed into something bigger than originally intended. like, maybe the attorneys he hired are at this point generating their own momentum, the bigger and better to bill our hero; and 2) he seems depressed/angry down on the world to let this happen.
