Prince wanted PP to become a museum. The reason they were able to get it up so quickly is because he was actively working on turning it into a museum when he died. There was detailed plan that he came up with. For all we know, he may have wanted his remains to stay there as well.

Remember, it's not what you want but what Prince wanted for his fans. I too am happy Prince's ashes are there. As long as its appropriately done, I have no problem with it. His doves, candles and warm light.... a place where fans can reflect and say "Thank You Prince".

The town of Chanhassen is nice and pleasant, I can see why Prince chose to live there. I showed up to PP at exactly 4pm, My VIP ticket let me park there at PP. The tour then started, beginning in the atrium ( small displays of guitars and other items) and of course his Remains I'm told were in a display in the center. Then we went to his office and the editing room where we watched video of a pre show rehearsal of the musicology concert in DC. The tour continued with us going to several rooms including studio A, PR room, sound stages, etc. being a fan I was excited to finally see PP and also sad to be there, the place where he died. It was nice to see all the costumes, instruments, and other Prince belongings. I mean just to be there was an honor and it seemed so peaceful at PP, I can see why Prince thought of it to be such a special place. The tour ended after the sound stages and led into a tent where souvenirs were sold. I did meet a few nice people during the tour. There was a woman who was crying thru most of the tour. I really felt her pain but could see that she needed to be there to finish healing. Another woman was a super Prince fan and was nice to talk to while in line. We shared stories about going to past Prince concerts. Then there was another woman who I wish would have booked another tour. She was annoying to say the least. She pushed her way to the front of every exhibit and room. Had something to say or complain about everything during the tour, she told the tour guide to turn off her radio because she didn't come to hear Her radio! The girl told her she had to keep it on to get tour info on going to next rooms. Then when it came to taking a picture by the piano the woman wasn't pleased with her pics so she demanded to re take them. The guy told her ok but to get to the end of the line, she refused and skipped to the front to take another set of pics ( which I'm sure came out just as ugly as the first set lol) anyway, was glad to attend the very first day that Paisley Park was open to the public as a museum. Truly a historic day that I will always remember.

So VIP can park at Paisley Park now? I thought everyone, VIP included had to park at that parking garage down the road?

I wouldn't be at ALL surprised to learn he wanted his ashes there, in a mini Paisley Park - he wanted to be in his home, with his fans (fams); he said as much - that he wanted everyone to come to his home, where he could be with them. He loved that place; he loved the whole idea of sharing his home and his love with all of us.

Given everything he said and did in recent times, I think relegating him to a cupboard in a relative's back room would be the LAST thing he would want. I have every reason to believe that him 'greeting' his guests in the atrium would be EXACTLY what he would want!

So my experience was very good. I was there early, like an hour early. Got on the bus with only like 5 other people. Got there and was immediately told not to take pictures inside or outside. Whatever. I went in to the lobby without anyone even asking me for my tix. The staff were very cordial except the lady at the door...

Lots to look at in the lobby as I waited including Kirk Johnson walking in and out. As I stood there a few of Prince's brothers were there with "Justin" and one of Prince's lawyers. I stood next to them by the door and it was a bit surreal I have to admit. The crowds came in in waves. I pretty much had free access everywhere I wanted to go on the first level. Again surreal.

Our tour welcomer was this very sweet Julia Childs sounding lady. Very sweet but clearly not super in the know yet.

Side note, this tour is definitely for the die hard fans. Not quite complete enough to capture the casual fans in my opinion. Those of us who have been around will love the access we get as well as the the items that are out for display. Including the guitars and outfits. Very cool stuff to be seen throughout. I think the items currently just out will eventually need climate controlled boxes to preserve them. Everything is pretty much out in the open when you go in to the soundstage and NPG Music Club areas. Die hard fans may have an issue with the knowledge level and cue cards that the staff use. Some of us would do better but they are doing their best!

The urn is a bit jarring....because it is right there in the atrium. Literally one of the first things you are told. It is pretty I guess for an urn. Tasteful. Tears were flowing for some to be sure.

Was also very cool to hear 2 new unreleased jazz trax he was working on at his time of passing. That and the video room where both staffers were quick to point out that this stuff will be released soon.

Worth the visit!

The only thing that worries me is when she sais they're going to remix the music. I do hope it stays as untouched as possible. No some hip sounding Remixes and reworkings.

Thanks, could u describe P's office please? I've seen it mentioned but not very detailed descriptions. Also whereabouts is it?

Hi...It's right off the atrium. Right across from the urn I guess. It was a fairly small office with an oval table. Family pics on a table in front of the windows. His desk at the other end of the room. Small desk with purple phone and notes. A camera tripod and a satchel. It was very unassuming and could have been anyones office really.

For anyone wondering what was in the giftshop area: There were lots of concert looking tshirts. Coffee mugs, tour book, guitar picks, ping pong balls

No music yet. At some point there will definitely be a REAL shop area. This is a tent set up adjacent to one of the exits. It is temporary. No way anyone would be out there when it gets cold out.

Important to note that this is just the very beginnings of what this will be. This museum and tour will look a lot different in a year, 5 years and beyond. There will be a permanent gift area at somepoint. MANY more displays of costumes. 30 more rooms for the albums not having their own spaces yet. Who knows...maybe even the second floor opening up somewhat.
