Wow!!! It's worth it just for the ticket access alone. Where do I sign up for a Founding Membership, or do I call 777-9311 to join?

When I spoke to one of the Lotusflow3r.com designers after the Conga Room show as I was looking over the site, I asked about tickets.
Obviously somebody was listening.

I'll tell you something though, and this really bothers me. Why the hell is this press release still not on the official site?!!! Shit, get rid of the Oscar Party links and at least update that with the "official" press release. We should have read it there. It's a little worrying, but oh well. Something to think about, I think. confused confused

This came from Dr FB: www.drfunkenberry.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

PRINCE ANNOUNCES MUCH ANTICIPATED LAUNCH OF NEW LOTUSFLOW3R.COM
WEBSITE ON MARCH 24, 2009 WITH UNPRECEDENTED ACCESS TO
NEW AND OLD CONTENT INCLUDING NEW ALBUMS, CONCERT TICKETS AND CONCERT FOOTAGE

The Site Will Allow Members to Download New Studio Albums LOtUSFLOW3R, MPLSoUND, and
Elixer, a collaboration with his new protégé Bria Valente, as Part of the Annual Membership Fee
Prior to Release in Target Stores

ON THE EVENING OF THE LAUNCH, PRINCE WILL PLAY THREE SEPARATE SHOWS ACROSS THE LOS ANGELES AREA TO SUPPORT THE NEW SITE

Los Angeles, CA…March 16, 2009 – In an unprecedented effort to manage his own content, Prince is proud to announce the official launch of his new, highly anticipated website LotusFlow3r.com on March 24th, 2009. As soon as the site goes live, fans will have access to new content including digital downloads of his new studio albums LOtUSFLOW3r, MPLSoUND and Elixer, a collaboration with his new protégé Bria Valente; concert tickets; sneak peaks at upcoming events; live concert footage; exclusive imagery from past albums and other exclusive photos for an annual membership fee of $77. Throngs of fans have already signed up on the existing beta version of the website for email updates and are waiting in the wings to become members and experience the world of Prince in a whole new way.

On the evening of March 24th, Prince will be performing at three different locations with three different bands throughout the Los Angeles area. How he plans to do this is still a mystery and even his musicians are not sure of all the details, but Prince fans have come to expect the unexpected. In addition, it was previously announced that Prince will play an unprecedented three nights in a row on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 25th, 26th and 27th and will return to help Leno end his reign on the late night show by performing on his next to last show on May 28th.

LotusFlow3r.com is an entire interactive galaxy, conceived by Prince and created by Scott Addison Clay and Anthony Malzone, that takes the Prince fans into three distinctly different worlds emanating the feel of the three new albums in a high-end 3-D style design. Currently, the beta version of the site hosts new tracks “Colonized Mind” from the new LOtUSFLOW3r album, “DiscoJellyfish” from the new MPLSoUND album and “Another Boy” from Elixer with Bria. In addition, the site is slated to release a new music video from each of the three albums on the launch date including “Crimson and Clover” from LOtUSFLOW3r, “Chocolate Box” from MPLSoUND and “Everytime” from Elixer. Prince also plans to give his fans access to tickets to live shows, concert footage from past performances, exclusive imagery from his past albums and other exclusive photos, exclusive information about any private or secret shows, as well as exclusive content that will only be available in the first week of the site launch and may never become available again. Fans who join the site early will also receive a boutique-quality “Founding Member” t-shirt that displays the central image from the galaxy. Over time, Prince will continue to give fans more access to high-end never released photos and video content and much more.

Prince collaborated with Malzone and Clay throughout the design and development of the entire website. In fact, the three often fed off of each other’s creative ideas. For instance, Prince wrote the music for the track “DiscoJellyfish,” which inspired Malzone, who visualized a design and took to his computer programs to design graphics and artwork to communicate the feel of the song, which then, upon seeing the designs, further inspired Prince to continue to write the song. Everything within this galaxy is a creative portal derived from the brilliant mind of Prince, beautifully executed by Malzone and Clay.

Newsweek.com has exclusively released the new cover art for Bria’s Elixer and Prince’s MPLSoUND albums: click here for Newsweek story .

Since his debut in 1978, Prince has had numerous hits on the Billboard Charts. In 2004, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has won six GRAMMY® awards, an Academy Award® and a Golden Globe®. From the moment he stepped onto the music scene, he has captivated fans with his continual reinvention as an artist and remains one of the most celebrated performers of all time. In 2006, Prince won a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 10th Annual Webby Awards. The founder of the awards called Prince “a visionary, who recognized early on that the web would completely change how we experience music.”

UPDATE!

the old press release says there will be 3 shows March 24th around town. It will actually be the 28th now. (locations still TBD.)

Good news! Thanx for the news DrFunkenberry and thanx for sharing, Purplecam. biggrin

Sounds like LOTUSFLOW3R.COM will have to offer a whole lot of everything.

wink When he opens up his box of chocolates, I wouldn't be surprised if he's going to rock off a few socks indeed;
specially those of the naysayers. lol

woot! YES! Prince, rock them socks off; bring on that purple bomb!

I said it in another thread... $77 is less than $6.50 a month...

I don't think its too bad of an investment in order to belong to my favorite musicians website and actually encourage him to do 'more' for his fans by properly and legally supporting his efforts... instead of non stop bitching and whining... and acting like an un-appreciative self serving azz as some of hisd do called fans do.

(I will never understand why do they still bother.. why are they here)

Agreed. Also, if he's setting aside the best seats for members-only presales, I think there's a lot of value in being able to get them without paying a scalper or spending a night waiting in line.

nod

i cleaned up on great seats during the musicology tour, thanks to NPGMC. and i had enough opportunities during the $25 site admission period that i pretty much earned my money back in what i saved on tix.

The official press release makes absolutely no mention of vault tracks. If the cd set costs $12 at Target, you pay an additional $65 for pictures, some footage, and a shirt? Yikes.

love the dude, but he's a control freak... who thinks he can charge a pretty high price during a recession, for exactly what it's not clear... he will at the end of the day only ever serve himself... which is fine, we all do to some extent... but I just feel like if he *ever* wants to have a real legacy or generate new fans, his recent music is going to have to improve, and he's going to have to be more accessible to a new crowd... I'd love for my friends to get into his music, but it's a hard sell to either say, 'well, you have to hunt down bootlegs on the internet,' or 'well, you have to pay 77 bucks to get access to anything GOOD'

kudos to the poster above who mentioned paying 77 bucks for a 12 dollar cd, a shirt, and maybe some pics...

as for me, I'm waiting to hear what the people that do have the 77 bucks to spend have to say about it before I go making any investment... Sorry, P, but I'm a working student, not a multi-millionaire like you smile

I just hope this website thing is good, and not further alienating.. :/ ~

I'm pretty sure it'll be secure. The secure-versus-insecure Web form thing got worked out back in 1997, when Prince was hawking Crystal Ball online.

if there was a option of a monthly amount then cool ur analogy works in how much per month goes..but i doubt he will offer that. it seems and i hope i'm wrong, that it's a flat fee up front with no option of getting out of it once u pluck ur dollars down ..or even 2 month subscription options would b welcomed, so that those that may not b able 2 afford the $77 upfront can budget themselves 2 what the product they have purchased is truly benefitting them
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

In no walk of life would you pay out $77 for something when you don't fully KNOW what you're getting. It makes no sense.

Soon as i hear about an upcoming UK tour or vault tracks for download, fine he might have my money. That's the only ancient history i'm interested in. Photos?

4 all of U who think that the 77 dollars will be wasted or is 2 much 2 pay. U have the wonderful option of not paying it. I 4 1 will spend the money on the site and still cop the physical cd set when it drops because last time I checked we all joined this site 4 the same reason. We're Prince fans! Get over whatever slight U feel prince has done U over the past 30 years or show your displeasure by no longer buying his music or going to his shows. Hey if U're so embittered then start up a I hate Prince website and vent. Either way... Shut up already DAMN!!!
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

There has never been any doubt about joining and this only gets me more excited! biggrin For non USA people this is a good way to get the music legally and perhaps join in on the live fun you are getting over there (thru video). YES even the T-shirt and photo's got me excited!

Maybe i am just too positive but i am one of the people that enjoyed the NPGMC. The 100 dollar year gave me The Rainbow Children, One night alone (piano and voice), One night alone (live), Xpectation and tickets to 4 shows and one aftershow. That was a very good year for me and worth every penny.

I think that if the date gets closer and news gets out that more and more people will join. You cant resist the purple funk wink

Get your facts straight..

I've been a member of the Org for most of this decade. I got a new user name last year so that my peeps would know who I was... where ever I went. I never liked his official forums... and that other site which closed down.... ughhh. The fact I hadn't posted often over the years means nothing except I have a life out side of Prince. Do you...?

I'm a very strong advocate for free speach. Whether I agree with what a person says or not. In fact, I've done my fair share of complaining about how Prince does things. I simply choose my battles and tend to only speak on things of real importance to me. Read a few of my blogs and you may learn a thing or two about my views on how Prince does things, So don't confuse me with one of your so called 'purple kool aid' drinkers... because I'm not one. TBut I'll tell you, the only people worse than the ones who faint every time Prince bats an eyebrow... are the ones who are stuck in bitch mode.

Constantly bitching, moaning and whining about everything he does will get on anyone's nerves. If he does so much wrong... why even bother to say anything... just tune him out shut up and go. Are you people ever happy...? Are you part of some masochistic cult..? Is your life so miserable that your only joy is pissing in some one else's kool aid and making them just as sour and miserable as you...?

My broke azz is going to pay the $77.00... and I so hope something extra does pop up in the first week for those who do pay. But ..wait... then yall will bitch about that. Damn... I don't see any way of getting away from the bitching. Its a bitch or bitch some more situation. cool

So you're saying that if Prince (or anyone else) for that matter did a concert for $77.00... you should already know the length of the show... what's going to be played... what outfits are going to be worn.. etc...?

Of course you wouldn't know those things. But would you pay your money NOT knowing those details...? All you would know is that you're paying to see a concert... past that.. its all up in the air. You just hope to get your money's worth.
