I can't wait to get my hands on the sweatshop t-shirt made of low grade polyester with a gaudy typeface to go with the 3121 perfume I use to get limescale out of the kettle.

$77 is that like £231 in the UK?

Providing he comes to your corner of the globe. My guess is Prince is staying in the US this time around.

Besides, MJ has clogged up the O2 for the rest of the year! lol

The same old vague suggestive marketing!

Material that "may" never become available again. We all know the trouble he got into last time with the broken promises. Looks like he is building an escape root in from the beginning this time.

"Information" about shows, but no commitment to invitations or presales.

I'm hope I'm wrong but the seemingly deliberate vagueness of this press release sounds even lower than Music club year 2.

A musician, and he can't commit to any exclusive music? Photos are for the fam sheep. Maybe thats who the membership is aimed at?

Concert footage might be nice, but the quality will be debatable. He seems more obsessed with his image than ever before.

One thing I'll bet on is that the majority of content will be embedded low quality. $77 or not, Prince isn't going to give the crown jewels away with wanting us to pay extra for it.

As a European fan, I don't expect any concerts this year, I don't need another one of his crappy t-shirts and I'm not going to sit at my PC watching shows in a you tube environment. I want the three new albums, but for that money, I'd expect the CD's, not just a download.

Come on Prince, dishing the music and a little commitment won't hurt you. The whole teasing thing has worn incredibly thin now. I'll happily commit my $77 dollars, if you commit to something more than the vague hope of you putting on a crappy live feed show at 5am in the morning London time.

Maybe he is only hoping to capture newbies and sheep this time around?

Hey squirrel...
I think the membership is aimed at fans, period.
To say that photos are for fam sheep is a bit unrealistic in my opinion.
I do not think there is a particular "definition" for fam.
Anyway...before I ramble away about this. I persoally would enjoy seeing photos. If that makes me "fam sheep" in your eyes, then so be it. But, I also want a lot more. I want UNreleased music that I will be able to DOWNload! Exlusive videos, also downloadable would be fab (but not expecting that).
Either way....fammy or not. I will be paying. I am an excited, long-time fan of the man and the music. And I hope to get quite a bit from the site!

Not dissing Prince because he's the man and his music is great...he's a hard working musical genuis.....

But his PR team are poor ....they just keep messing up ....i'm sure Prince is paying them well but they just can't seem to get a damn thing right ...they let press releases go out without checking them...and articles that state "Their could be 10 new albums worth of never heard of tracks" no sign of that in this press release ...sign up early and you may or may not get a t-shirt?

may...could...should...?

Why don't they just make life easy sign up for a smaller fee ...get a chance to download the album or mail order through amazon + shipping cost, register for tickets.

Then charge for T-shirts, charge for music, buy dvd's & music through a partner website...done... biggrin
Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..

So I'm guessing information pertaining to those L.A. gigs (which is what I'm mainly interested in) will only be available to the paying members? Hmmm...I don't mind paying the $77 to see him but I wish I knew what I was getting into. I don't want to pay and find out I have to pay even more for a show where he takes the backseat or something.

I hate to say it, but this is still not enough to get my $$. After bad experiences with NPGMC (not to mention 1-800-NEW-FUNK before that) I am very cautious about this venture... even so, after reading about the possibility of 10 CDs worth of unreleased material, I was reaching for some cash!! But this article has brought me right back down to earth.

and here's why:

T-Shirts are great, but not worth the $77 to join the club.

I can't travel to L.A., have heard no info of a tour, and even if there is one, the likelihood that he comes to my town are slim at best. So access to live shows isn't likely to do me any good.

I'm not interested in pictures. Not new pictures, not old pictures, I just don't care. I don't even like that big book of pictures that I bought last year just to get the CD inside.

(aha, I bought a book of pictures I didn't want to get the MUSIC that came with it... let's get to the music now)

I am VERY interested in exclusive music and video. BUT... I want to know what I get for my $$.

I'm not interested in the downloads of the 3 CDs that I will be buying less than a week later at Target. I can wait.

I expect that any videos will be low quality and imbedded so they can't be saved. I only pay for videos of decent quality that can be watched on my home theater system.I'm just not interested in the low quality videos I can only watch on the computer...

I need clear information on exclusive music. Teasing about 10 CDs worth of exclusive music gets my attention, but not my $$, for that I need details. And I'm not talking specific track list and disc length details. I'm just saying, promise up front a minimum number of exclusive tracks or discs. Teasing the possibility doesn't cut it.
Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

I know what you're sayin'. He's dangled the carrot in front of the hard core fans for soooo long. When will stuff from the vault ever come out? He's so good at sucking us all in with the hype. I've signed up for everything, from Love4OneAnother thru all of the NPGmusicclub days. I'm thinking I'll wait on the sidelines for this one though, until I hear from others what it's like on that site. That comment about stuff only available the first few weeks, that's good, reeeaaaal good (marketing). I was guessing he'd do something like that, with all the folks on here posting that they would wait and see. I don't know if I'll be able to hold out, even though I think we all should. I might pay the $77 - but I will probably wait for Org reports on what the content is, and in what formats they are available.

If the songs are DRM-protected WMA files, I might pass. They don't play nice with my Mac/iPod. I hope he takes cues from other web artists and offers files in FLAC format.

Not sure yet - still deciding.

EXAAAAACTLY!!!! PRINCE, JUST BE DIRECT, FOR $77 YOU GET X, Y, AND Z NOT DETAILS ABOUT X AND POSSIBLY Y AND Z FOR ONLY A WEEK.

Sorry, had to scream it, but seriously, does he know that most of us aren't made of money? I am happy to fork over $77 if I know what I am getting. I am too old to pay that much to get into one after show where I have to stand in line or get into the club 4 hours ahead of time to have any chance of being in a good position for the show. And then once I am in position I can't leave to pee or get a beer cause I will lose my spot. This is Spanky ranting.

Oh, fuck it, Prince-take my money. I love you smile

Kind of surprised no one's mentioned the appearance of that bolded word yet. Up until now, I had thought the $77 was a one-time thing, and even then, I was hesitant to join...but ANNUAL? Aw, hell no.

Of course, this is probably all assuming that the site's still active for a second year, eh?
