Ouchies!! I was thinking the same. I've spent something similar to get to the Sydney shows (tickets to all four shows, flights, accommodation, food and transport allowance, etc.) from Brisbane. Will be a little cheesed off if Brisbane shows are forthcoming. Still, as much as I love Brisbane and Perth, seeing Prince in the Sydney Opera House will be a highlight cool

I am not complaining but my circumstances were made more complicated by Jose James playing Perth the same night as Prince at the OH. What a week it's going to be - Jose in Perth, Prince in Sydney and then Prince in Perth. Surely it can't beat the Welcome2Australia tour, which was one of the best 2 weeks ever...

Does he fly private jet or commercial?

There's one commercial direct flight that gets him from Auckland to Perth between the two tour dates. Might book myself a business class seat on it. wink

Also, got a new puppy and called it 'Nelson'. What a year! Next thing is to work it how to attend a Paisley Park gig without paying for everything to get there from Australia without it being cancelled once I've arrived. Any suggestions?

Good evening. This is your pilot Prince speaking.
U r flying aboard the Seduction 747
And this plane is fully equipped with anything your body desires

If 4 any reason there is a loss in cabin pressure
I will automatically drop down 2 apply more
2 activate the flow of excitement
Extinguish all clothing materials and pull my body close 2 yours
Place my lips over your mouth, and kiss, kiss, normally
In the event there is overexcitement
Your seat cushion may be used as a flotation device

We ask that U please observe the "No Letting Go" sign
I anticipate a few turbulence along the way....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The feeling you get when...
(you squeeze your balls?) no that's not it...
I can't think of a venue in Brisbane that will be anywhere near the Sydney Opera House. It will be slightly annoying if he does announce dates there, but I'm putting seeing him at the SOH as a life experience.
It's probably just too small, but would be amazing. We went to see Mavis Staples there last year.
I hadn't thought of QPAC. Not the same history though, is it? Man, I wish that European tour hadn't have been canned. I was primed and in place for the Vienna concert.
Love his music (but hope he keeps the medleys to a minimum).
Prince has commented on the disparity in law where one couldn't do a "cover" of a hit TV show, but anyone can "cover" his music.
I agree with the intention of having respect for the artist and the actual song.
I'm also happy for Prince to reinterpret his own music and perform songs in a different style from the original (like a reggae version of "I would die 4 U").
So while I can understand the thrill Prince receives of doing a "medley" of his greatest tunes, from the massive, succeessive waves of screams and applause with each tune he meanders into...I have to say that for me it is a bit like watching children gorge themselves on candy on Halloween - but because I'm a mature adult, it's easy for me to instead choose a nice piece of chocolate cake or quality bowl of ice cream.
I truly hope that 90% of Prince's performance time is taken with Prince performing complete songs. Each song is a emotional journey of it's own and the Power PRINCE demonstrates by manipulating us all to take this emotional joureny is far more powerful than the repeated sugar rush of samples of his music.
The reaction of the audience to each familiar tune is both a "THANK YOU for creating this song" and a "PLEASE PLEASE play this incredible song (in its entirety)".
And so I say again how much I hope Prince will play most songs in their entirety.
I also understand there are some lyrics he is no longer comfortable singing. He could easily just not sing those lines (let the audience fill them in), or change the lyrics (Eg I met her in a hotel lobby masticating a nectarine).
I had to say something. How else can I demostrate my love and dedication to the originator of this incredible music and the actual songs themselves.
Wishing with all my might. (Eyes closed & fingers on both hands crossed).
(I will be attending 2 concerts in Sydney - purely because he has so many songs and I hope to experience as many of his songs in this format as possible.)
Agree.
If you're not comfortable with some of the words, skip the whole song or suck it up.
I'm hoping he read the feedback about the cheesy synth sounds he mixed with the natural piano sounds. Mabye for some songs it is ok, but I hope to hear less of it.
The whole sing along thing of the Paisley Park shows was a bit much for me.
I wonder how long the Perth show will run given it's a single show? I hope for the fans he performs for 2+ hours instead of the 90 minute format.
I also feel a bit sorry for Auckland fans as the Perth show definately means no extra shows in NZ. I still think he will add a few Brisbane shows. Im sorry for Adelaide fans if he doesn't perform there.
Does the man not sleep? He is doing 2 shows in Auckland and then flying to Perth, which is a hour 7 direct flight from Auckland, even longer if it stops in Sydney and Melbourne and then Captain and MC may want to interview him lol lol
.
The only upside, is that Perth's timezone is 5 hours behind New Zealand. Wouldn't it be great if he came back and did Christchurch afterwards.
Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
Every evening (as already mentioned) I check out Ticketmaster to see what the best available ticket is to the concert I've already bought two tickets to (6.30 pm Wednesday, Melbourne). Tonight's answer is CC9 STALLS; that's the third row from the stage, close enough to the middle of the row as to make no difference. It was right there for a lousy $397.00; and to think of the other seats they must have allocated earlier as "best available"!!
This may mean that the man can do these shows on autopilot which takes away a bit of the excitement.
I believe on his last tour of Australia (Welcome 2 Australia tour 2012) he had a private jet. If I recall correctly, they brought out a cargo Boeing 747 with the stage equipment and production equipment, and there was a smaller passenger jet carrying Prince and some other personell.
My guess is that this time he will probably use a private jet again, although this time he also has substantially less production equipment travelling around with him.
Hey all,
I have access to a spare ticket for the show on Tuesday 16th Feb at the State Theatre Melbourne at 6:30pm due to a person in the group pulling out. It is one of the $400 tickets, in a very good spot, and we are selling at face value.
More details are at http://prince.org/msg/9/421791 or contact me directly for any enquiries.
Cheers,
Brad.
No, you are trying to take away some of the excitement. smile
I think these shows take him a bit out of his comfort zone and remember he did only one night so far.
Not having a band gives him more freedom to change the setlist and my guess is that by playing only parts of songs he got some feedback from how the crowd responded.
If he would rock up with an accoustic guitar instead would anyone complain about false advertisement?
Yes, best available seats at 12.10 Tuesday for that show were Row W in the stalls, also for $397.00. Of course we bought them. Makes you wonder about online ticket selling...still, I'm not complaining. In fact , I'm ecstatic that finally I will get to see the Purple God...
