Leave it to Bart to complain for over a decade that Prince almost never performs his new songs live, then when he does, he's got a problem with something else.

It's that searing guitar solo. Had the balls to use it as an into and save the baroque keys for the end. It like he played it while it was still white hot from sitting in a glass furnace. And the lack of a baseline allows your brain to focus on that drum pattern that intun bounced it around. The the surprisingly personal yet universal lyrics seal the deal.

Just be happy that this even happens at all for an artist of this calibre that's been making music for decades. PS: The Current is a great station because they play all kinds of stuff. It's the one station I listen to whenever I'm in the area. And yes, they've been friendly to Prince and so he returns the favor. It's rare for a local station to support its own local artists, sad but true.

Anyhoo, hearing that Madonna was at PP reminded me of the time I read about her wanting to sleep w/ Prince but got mad and cussed him 'cuz he just wanted to read the Bible or some such. I wonder if that was true.

I doubt it...but according to legend Madonna banged everyone back in the day. The female equivalent of Prince...back then. That's why it's so great they hooked up at Paisley Park for one night.

Yep, it was in from a Rolling Stone piece in 1998. Here's the relvant excerpt:

Prince’s “When Doves Cry” was another song I used to escape into when it first came out. By then I did have a record contract, and I had moved to a nice loft on Broome and West Broadway. But there was still no elevator, so I had to walk up six flights of steps to get to my loft. I rode my bike everywhere, with a Walkman and headphones on, and one hot summer day I came in and I just couldn’t carry my bike up those stairs one more time. I was hating my family and my life at the time, and I just collapsed in the stairwell with that song playing in my headphones, crying my heart out and feeling incredibly sorry for myself.
