he did play for us! woot! dancing jig paisley park doors opened about 10:45 and we were allowed into the L4OA room, where the stage was set up and ready to go. there really weren't very many people there, maybe 75?

.

we watched WCCO channel 4 news on the screen in the L4OA room while DJ D spun tunes.

.

Judith's show came on stephen colbert's late show and it was awesome to see her up there, shining like that. Judith sang cry cry cry, and nailed it. good show.

.

then a little while after judith's show, prince and the band took the stage in the L4OA room. kirky was on drums, donna on guitar, prince keys/guitar/vocals and was that MonoNeon on bass? me, i didn't recognize him but he just blended right in, like he'd been playing with the band forever. nice.

.

liv and her protegee?/new talent ashley sang for us on a couple of songs; their voices really mesh well together, very rich harmony.

.

prince indicated the band was rehearsing but they sounded pretty well polished to me. it was a lot of fun watching them play, especially since prince was joking around and chatting with the band members and audience. it was a really cool vibe.

.

fun night, mellow crowd and great band. a million thank yous to paisley park!!!

If that is the same Ashley who sang with Liv at her July Paris shows, she has a wonderful voice...it would be great to see her join NPG with Liv...

Night 2 at Paisley Park

.

article by Jon Bream:

And on Night 2 at Paisley Park, Prince invited the public, saluted the WNBA champion Lynx in conversation and declared this last-minute $50-a-ticket performance a rehearsal.

.

He put the same band he had for Wednesday’s 3-hour Lynx victory party through its paces for 100 minutes late Thursday night running through songs, working out arrangements with instructions and just jamming -- till 3:05 in the morning.

.

“Y’all mind if we do a rehearsal right now?” the Purple One told the sparse crowd of about 35 people after Liv Warfield and Ashley Minnieweather sang “You Got the Love,” which was faster than Wednesday’s slow-jam reading but still not as up-tempo as Chaka Khan’s original version. “That way we don’t have to get up at 9 in the morning.”

.

Indeed, Prince was in a playful mood. At one point, he asked how many people had been at Paisley for the Lynx celebration the night before. Um, about two of us. “Those girls not only play basketball, but they dance,” he declared. “See all those scuff marks onstage.”

.

They were from Madonna, a fan shouted, referring to Madge’s appearance at Paisley to see Prince the week before.

.

“We cleaned them up from last week,” the Paisley potentate explained. “These are new scuff marks.”

.

Awesome! So glad it appears he is moving on from the girls. It was a fun experiment but it's time to refocus and bring on a new world tour with the new band!!! Bring on Phase 2

More like 50.

Yes, that was Mono Neon. He played with Judith Hill at the shows earlier this year at Paisley Park.

Ashley is one of Liv's background singers.

No sign of the Weltons. hmmm

How cool was that to hear him do Paisley Park (the song), at Paisley Park! cool

the band last night was hot. they had a noticeable chemistry and seemed to really work well together, a lot of funny musical banter back and forth.

.

you're right the crowd was smaller than i wrote; without being packed and jostled it was actually possible to get close to the stage and watch the band up close. absolutely delicorice drool

.

paisley park is in your heart music

Damn I thought nothing could top the Madge Show last week but this was a treat!!! I especially loved the parts when he was making kirk do little sounds (hilarious!!) and when he told the crowd to not be so "polite" hehehe.. Don't even get me started on him channeling Hendrix on the guitar solos OMG!!!

Also at the end he let those 2 guys in front hold and play with his guitar, their face was priceles!!!

.

It was really amazing to be able to see how he rehearses, he seemed so comfortable in front of us, I think these little gatherings are awesome, it's mainly the same 30-40 people everytime so it almost feels like home now and I think he likes it too smile

.

I feel really really really lucky to have been able to witness 2 incredible and different shows in 2 weeks

it's like christmas early, I wonder if anything can top that! lol

Ashley has been singing backup along with Liv and Saeeda Wright for most of Prince's concerts this year, and I agree they sound great together.

I would be really sad to see Ida go. Since Ida is still tweeting about Prince happenings, I'm assuming either it's her choice she's not there, or that this is only temporary.

Personally I think the rumors of Hanna being pregnant might be true plus it's time for him to move on anyway

He did play it. He was on keys. So surreal hearing that song there.
