Maybe a new band member...maybe not. Maybe he was just jamin with mono neon for the night. It now makes more sense as to why he put up that clip of mono neon thunking along to 'Time' on @Prince3eg
Did you see him backing Judith on her EPK/behind the scenes video? He's everywhere. U know..I looked at it again...I did see him but somehow my thick head dint put two and two together.... |

Sign O the Times - Prince started out playing rhythm guitar and sang over the sampled beat. He told Donna to play tamborine and she did. Later the song morphed into what sounded like a new song to me, but apprently is a cover of the Isley Brothers. Prince had us sing the wordless chorus and parts of the song went "I got work to do" and "I got a job." Then he strapped on the electric guitar and did some nice distorted lead parts, incorporating the lead line from America.
I am spent! A great set, Prince was relaxed and very cool.
Kirky J back in the band?
Hannah was there, dancing during the dance party but did not play.
Who is MonoNeon? he played killer bass, left handed - played a right hand instrment upside down.
Thank you Prince!

Average White Band - Work To Do. Isleys and Vanessa Williams had hits with it also. |

That sounds interesting.
So is this 'just' a configuration or perhaps a try out?
Perhaps not a try out because of Madonna, he wouldn't want to fail in front of her.
Hmm... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry. |

Hmm...
is cooking up something REAL funky band wise......Warming up Paisley Park property manager Kirky J with Judith was a good idea! He is always stewing up something in that brilliant brain of his.

I've seen this all over the Internet and social media, and yet there are less than twenty comments here. At least two threads about it in the music and more forum have been shut. Is it time to accept that there is no point in having other forums anymore, as nobody reads them, and merge all Prince related news into the main forum? And by the way, don't get me started on the Michael Jackson crap - how could the stuff about prince pissing him off by playing bass on his face be moved to the one and only Michael Jackson thread, where presumably people are discussing his ever changing face and child rumours as well as his music -I've never been to that thread I don't have a clue- is just ridiculous.
I too had the same feeling about that thread getting moved. And personally I dont visit any other forums apart from this one. Liv 4 Luv |

Ya gotta love how a couple of months ago hundreds of black journalsist were invited days beforehand, paid admission to the Park and all they got was a short announcement from Prince that he hadn't expected them -- despite HIM INVITING THEM DAYS EARLIER.
.
Madonna comes into town? Prince throws a last minute party at the Park and debutes half a dozen songs at an improvised concert. Oh, he also makes sure there's a reporter from The Current present, because those people have repeatedly posted long uncritical reports of whatever event he invited them to.

Priorities, right? © Bart Van Hemelen

Oh pleeze. You can't have it both ways, he is either a calculating opportunist or an out of touch washed up singer who doesn't care about promotion. Prince has been doing impromptu gigs, with new music, on short notice, his entire 40-year career. |

Neither of which are correct representations of what I've said.
.
Prince has been doing impromptu gigs, with new music, on short notice, his entire 40-year career.
.
He didn't perform when hundreds of black journalists were invited to PP by Prince. He didn't perform on any of the three nights when he threw HNR release parties, hell he couldn't even be arsed to be present most of the time. Both were events planned beforehand, with hundreds of paying customers.
.
Now compare to what happened when Madonna visited. © Bart Van Hemelen
