New topic Printableoverall, it was very good on a scale of poor to excellent. Freddy grays family sat side stage & he walked them up to the front. sweet, but heart wrenching. Hannah missed her cue once - she started too soon and he held his hand up - I've never seen him correct someone (or seen someone miss a cue) onstage before. he did sing the beautiful ones right to me, though.

Will the show be available to watch on Tidal or something later? I couldn't watch the stream last night because I live in England and it would of been like 3AM or something here when he was on and I had to get up early.

Sounds like a real message of unity, there... Not sure if you are being sarcastic... Words that empower people or plant seeds in minds to do something positive is an excellent complement to the message of unity. That's a good thing and I'm glad he said it.

lest my love for prince sound tainted, I say this with the following qualifiers: this was a benefit, and it was pulled together in days. that said, this was not an arena show. this was by far the most expensive prince show I've attended. it looked like a cheap powerpoint was projected behind him. the stage was sparse & one directional. I couldn't even hear the words to "Baltimore". I was at lovesexy, for god's sake. this was a smaller venue show. the man is the experience. the piano section was beautiful, and somehow "how come u don't call me" was probably my favorite.

This is such an ignorant and dismissive comment. What does one thing have to do with the other? That you liken police to the criminals who kill other black men is telling. In my opinion, officers of the law should be held to a higher standard. I guess we differ there.
However, as I see it, people who are paid by the citizens of a city and entrusted to protect ALL the citizens of that city but instead abuse and murder certain citizens of that city cannot be compared to citizens of the city, particularly those who are suffering from post tramautic slave syndrome and/or are losing a centuries-old battle against systemic discrimination.
Lastly, if you have a chance to find a dictionary, look up the word "blame." Making a factual observation, i.e. police have killed black men, is not "blaming" anyone. It's Sunday evening. That is a statement of fact, not blaming anyone. Just stating the TRUTH!
Also, why do I need to take my comments anywhere, when I only addressed the reason he is doing the concert in the first place? I swear, every time I try to return to this site I realize why it's been more than a year since I have been here. The intolerance of dissenting ideas here is crazy. Also, some of you just want to silence and ignore the existence and effects of racism at all costs. Then, you wonder why the USA is where it is in 2015 . . .
[Edited 5/10/15 19:24pm] Post traumatic slave syndrome? You sound like a nut. I hate identifying myself or anyone else by race, but for the sake of this comment I will. I am a black make and I can tell you one thing, the police are the least of my worries on a daily basis. They aren't black peoples problem either. Young uneducated and unemployed black men are the problem. The breakdown of the black family is the root cause to plight of the inner cities. Police misconduct does not occur in 99.9 % of all interactions between blacks and police. Almost of the black man's problems in the inner city are self induced. Just go to school, do your homework, don't do or traffic drugs, avoid teen pregnancy, go to college, and get a job. Things will work out for you in the U.S. if you follow this SIMPLE formula. Really? He does it all the time. yeah. I've seen him give the cues, but never a correction. it was a cool little idiosyncrasy for me, like an Easter egg or something. he had his hand up & I saw 4 fingers. I didn't know if he meant on the 4, or if he was just telling her to wait. he was on the side, near the piano - not singing. someone else was out front. anyway she started and he held his hand up to definitely STOP, and then he led her in at the right time. I loved seeing it; it was artistry.
