It's funny isn't it, everyone so ready to put you down about this and take my word as the faithful recollection of events, yet I'm the scum who let his wife into the queue the other night, so I don't know why I'm suddenly the essence of virtue. Maybe I'm Wolfie? lol

It was 7 years ago and there were loads of orgers getting their glowsticks and everyone was super hyped. Just because I don't recall having a drink with squrrel doesn't mean we didn't meet and chat for a bit. I met some people from the org who's real names I recall but I can't match a screen name to. Superb times and great people.

As for the number of shows he's claiming I have no idea, but seeing as I seem to have been used as anti-Squirrel ammunition I will say this. I've been coming here longer than my profile has existed, more than 13 years in fact and Squirrel has always been a solid member of the community and not someone that I've ever suspected of being a bullshitter. As far as I'm concerned he's one of the good guys.

Going back to the show count though, it really doesn't seem unbelieveable. I've only been going to see Prince since '93 and have seen him 27 times. Before the O2 shows there were 20 shows in England alone that I could have attended but didn't. I saw Prince at 12 main shows and 7 after shows, so there were a firther 9 main shows and 6 more after shows at which he performed. This brings us to 35 missed shows, so I could have been up to 65 easily and that's just in the UK being a fan since '93. Add in European dates and things like the celebration and I could easily be up to 100 performances, so someone who's been going since the early 80's and also travelling to European shows could easily be hitting 200.

'

biggrin Don't worry Dude, I'm thick skinned enough to not lose any sleep over a few petty comments, but thanks for the kind words. I'm guessing that was you and I mentioned at the meeting point on the old thread I linked to, but I'm sure neither of us give two hoots as the what was said as long as we had a good time.

.

I just find it very weird that some people would be so bothered to begin with. Even more weird is why people would troll a thread about London gigs without, it seems, even making an attempt to go to them, regardless how hardcore they claim to be. I guess some people just need something to rag on.

.

As for shows, the funny thing is, I don't know the exact amount I've been to. I stopped counting before 150, and that was a long while ago. I know fans who have been to alot more than me. I think some people can't comprehend how hardcore others are.

.

In the 80's I would travel Mainland Europe with a crappy backpack following the funk. I used to work to fund it. I've slept in cupboards on German railway stations to raining town parks in Utrect. I've driven across the US. For the UK Nude Tour, I got a standard ticket for the first night, and for the next 18, went to the touts as the lights were going down inside, and then snapped up their premium seats they were left with for a few quid.

.

I was 15 when I lied to my parents and slept out overnight at Wembley Arena to bag front row seats for all the Parade gigs.

I could have hit 300 easy (like some have) but for funds. That was the biggest blocker.

.

I'll just have to get some sort of passport stamped for the next 100 gigs in case people who just watch from the sidelines get their knickers in a twist. wink

You don't have to justify yourself. No at all.

.

I usually go once or twice on each UK tour. I feel i probably take more from seeing one main show and hopefully an aftershow too. Setlists don't change much in the main shows enough for me to justify the expense. i.e. Lovesexy, same set next night. Nude, D&P, same. pretty much.

.

But this set of shows, yeah. I just know without managing to get to one yet (i've tried!), this tickles my music bones.

LEWISTAYLORFAN

I was told by some guy who was hanging around a fan that it was £70 on the door.

I spoke to someone who worked there said his crew had done some wiring in the place already.

The technical guy who told me this said they expected people to queue up sleep overnight and they be moved on.

So....Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club has a capacity of 220. I can make this gig.....however, the chances of getting in are slim.

Can some experienced Orgers tell me how good my chances are if i began to que from, say 8am for the show which i presume will begin at 7pm?

Try and ring them before.

I was a member and they get priority tickets. I paid £69 as a member in 2011 or 2010 to see Todd Rundgren per show.

I think it seats about 80 people if that but look on the website.

I honestly think Industry people will be watching and maybe a few seats at the back for inner circle fans.

But lots of luck.

Just reading through the whole debate on the tapes distributed at the gigs in Dublin in 95, apart from the fact that the discussion about the tapes ended up reading like some sort of pathetic cat fight, I would sincerely like to recommend, that we start to act like adults. I am not trying to judge anyone, I am as guilty of over reacting and being an arse as anyone else on here.

Regarding Wolfie, I was almost kicked off this site because of a rabid rant I posted about him on here, the punishment would have been fair, coz what I did was bang out of order. However, I have never had to look at another post by him since, but I am sure he is here, in one form or another. Do I give a shit? Obviously not, some of the shit that guy was up to was wrong on so many levels...just think about the Croke park fiasco, or the 2007 ticket lottery thing where the funds were going to a hospital for sick children (his pocket)...and so on.

As for the fucking competition of who has been to the most P concerts, total nonsense. I am a hardcore fan but I have not seen 200+ Prince concerts. I would love to say I have, but geography amongst other things prevented me. However, I like to read accounts from people who have seen shed loads of gigs and I equally like to read the stories of the first timers. Each account of a gig, has its own individual perspective, purpose, and validity. As a member of a Prince forum, I would expect nothing less than that.

Finally, regarding the lost tapes, as I have mentioned earlier in this thread, I was at both Point Depot gigs in Dublin in 95. I remember at the time that there was talk of them, but I vaguely remember that. I was not on the floor for either gig, but I do remember there was some commotion in front of the stage during the gigs. In the end, who fucking cares, I don't, all I care about is the fact that they were two of the best gigs I was ever at, and I like to discuss the stories about them.

Peace N B wild...Those were the true Days Of Wild.

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Porffor

I wrote this while I was drinking so forgive me if I go astray. Its a long time since the only time I previously posted on the org at O2 time. I tend to post on forums, twitter or facebook when I feel I've something new to say which hasn't already been said so it's not often really. Even though I don't post here lots I've lurked loads, does that still make me a fan? I've seen Prince 8 times since the Nude tour in Hannover in 1990 ( is that enough by the standards here ?) but life got in the way for the tours I missed. Still this 'tour' is what I've been waiting for since the O2 but getting to london from North Wales is logistically difficult by the time my wife, ex, son, work and health get into the mix but it doesn't mean I wouldn't drive to london if I thought I'd definitely see Prince in such intimate settings. I was unlucky at the O2 as every aftershow I went to were the noshows at the indigo although I did shake Prince's hand at one which made up for it.

So why apart from drink am I writing now ? There's a cynic in me about the whole thing, I booked a hotel and flights to Dublin a few years ago which was cancelled but I did it knowing what could happen with Prince but I took the risk because he's the only artist who I've ever seen that I feel privileged to be in the same place as. A few years later I had tickets so I drove to Arras and Werchter which was the last time I saw him so by now i can't wait Prince live again.

Since Prince arrived this month I've gone through all the scenarios of what I'd have to do with work and my personal life, especially my time with my son, in order to drop everything to go to london but on balance I couldn't justify it as I didn't know if there'd be a payoff. So basically Prince / his management have got us in the position of an abusive relationship where we'll take anything or they give us the highs and lows of a gambler.

But Prince is Prince so despite myself I'm checking the org and twitter every 5 minutes, getting a high seeing he's coming to Manchester and then explaining to my wife why I'd be happy to get rid of our 6 nations tickets on Friday so that we've more of a chance to see Prince (she's never seen Wales play rugby or Prince play so she prefers the idea that we've got real tickets for the rugby compared to my 'well if we queue on Friday but don't get in to see Prince at least we know we can definitely see Wales play France next year but I don't know when Prince will be back again so it's worth the risk'.)

So I've settled on driving straight to Manchester from Cardiff and putting my eggs in one basket for Saturday night. But where !? Are there tickets ? Will I have to queue ? My wife won't queue (she doesn't understand yet !) so I'll have to drive her home first before I queue but that means we'll have to get up very early so I can potentially get to Manchester in time on Saturday, all these hypothetical discussions before I've any idea if it's really on or will be ticketed or queuing ! But it's Prince and there's no other artist in the world for who it would cross my mind to even consider all this for.

I accept that this is how it is with Prince, but how could it be better for those of us in this Prince state of mind ? (I've got the lotusflow3r tshirt so I know there's no point of fan club priority ! and I'm not media so I won't be taking up any of those seats)

Now we've potentially got advance notice here are my thoughts on getting tickets to fans :

Use the thirdeyegirl mailing list;
Set high but not ridiculous ticket prices, I disagree with this normally but anything to put off casual fans;
Put on a live feed and put tickets on sale for the next show at a random points e.g. at 1 or 2 am for those watching; or
Set a prince quiz before buying tickets e.g with 5 seconds per answer so no googling time.

After due consideration and seeing how all this seems to be panning out I think I'll just resign myself to a queue on Saturday ! See you there !

What do you think the benefit of 'numbering' would be besides that issue?

If you can trust the scheme, the people around you in the queue and what's not,....

I realised how daft i was being just after I posted. Oviously I can't just go there and then return at 7:30 expecting that they wouldn't have just started letting non-numbers in until the place is full.

"Sorry guys, you can't go in, EnglishGent hasn't returned yet" lol

It's good fun though, I'm cracking up at some of the people panicking on Twitter, "Will I definitely get in if I get there within an hour?". I'm thinking there's a possibility they may just squeeze in.

I'll be keeping an eye on it and if it gets to about 5pm and looking like we might get in still, then the wife and I may head over. No way I'm queueing for hours again though.

Whats your problem dude? Upset that others have been to more gigs or something? Called out, I'm not even sure what you are on about, but you clearly have issues. The cassette picture you are pointing out now is not the one you said was given out. My guess, you made an honest mistake.

7 Years ago you me, Dayzofwild and others were calling Wolfie out til we eventually got him kicked off.

But I don't get all this playground stuff.

Is it that you think me or others make up the amount of gigs they go to? Your logic is what? I'm sure the hardcorers are like me and go for the music, not some score card thing.

Lets swap pictures of our Prince gold discs and be friends. biggrin

I was one of the people who got Wolfie thrown off this site Squirrelmeat. If you can't take it, don't give it mate. There are a lot of bullshit artists on this site. Betty (dayz) knows all about it. smile On a positive note what happened to SquirrelGrease? I miss him, he was funny and smart. A lot of the great Orgers seem to have disappeared.

I'm really torn today. I don't fancy another Sunday on the pavement....but....I have already rejigged things with Mrs M to look after the kids and anywhere walkable from Kings Cross is really handy as its the end of the Cambridge line.

I think I'll make the trip PM, if the queue is too big, I'll enjoy the market, afterall it was the birthplace of my P obsession with bootleg stalls.
