I don't care what anyone says he was not going through the motions. Just got in from the first gig at Kings Place, was great seeing an acoustic set. I'm probs not the best person to ask about the set because I'm still floating far too high. Hoping to catch one more show before they are over. No offense but after 21 nights (plus aftershows) most of us are +30 shows. Take that to over 200 though is a very different ball game. To me it sounds incredulous but hey if he managed it somehow, more power to him. What did you think of tonight's gig? Was it short or satisfactory? I know the intimacy was probably great, but leaving that aside? Good? Great? I am happy with tonight, it wasn't as long as the SBE gig, it probably was about 1 1/2hrs (I think it started around 9 and finished around 10.30) however it felt longer to me. The acoustic section was a nice change, however the q&a was a tad rubbish Josh had got questions off of some people outside but Prince just answered the ones he wanted to and all but one were fairly brief answers ( the only one which was longer was one about what he believed in). The electric set was good however it did feel odd being in a seated theatre style venue and I was surprised by how often people sat down (throughout the night). If I had the chance I would do it again however the gig at SBE last Sunday was by far superior but tbh that was a special night and I'm not sure if he'll ever beat it. With Love there is no Death

Barbara darling - had I known you'd been to so many shows (and actually met him, so you must like REALLY know him compared to the plebs front of house), which obviously qualifies you as such an expert that you are able to supercede opinions from those who actually attended the event in question, I wouldn't have dared open my mouth.
I mean, you go to such a high percentage of shows availalble on a tour, it can't possibly be eating you that you missed any of these ones, eh? You must have had your fill.
You might know when you've seen "true emotion", but then, you didn't actually see it, did you?
Anyway, as mentioned previously in the thread, I'm shortly off to the airport for a well-earned holiday. Look forward to catching up what's been going in 10 days time
It's driving me crazy I haven't gotten to one of these concerts? Crazy! thanks for the empathy sweetie... Watch out for triggerfish, he's a fucker! [Edited 2/14/14 17:39pm]

Of course its about opion and we are all entitled to one, but you seem fairly agressive with yours and you weren't there. Its quite clear there was almost univeral praise by everyone that was there. You mentioned The Point 95? Did you go? If you did, you know how good it was (my personal favourite non aftershow gig). I rate the Show on Sunday up there with the first night at The Point. .

So....Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club has a capacity of 220. I can make this gig.....however, the chances of getting in are slim.
Can some experienced Orgers tell me how good my chances are if i began to que from, say 8am for the show which i presume will begin at 7pm? This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream

Did you go to both? I can't remember which, but one they gave the free tee shirts out at. Thought it was the first, but I could be wrong. That was the killer one for me. It was the night of the Pod show which ever that one was. .

tonight was fucking mental. amazing. each show is different even if the setlists show the same songs. it was like a crisp clean clear show tonight, whlst SBE was low and dirty and reminiscent of the 80s aftershows

Edit: actually they did give out free stuff, The War Cassettes or Versace Exoerince, couldn't get one, Didn't see any shirts though. [Edited 2/14/14 17:59pm] "My God it's full of Stars"

I just find it interesting that you think things are BS when there are quite a few of us to hit those numbers and its not hard to do (time and money permitting). I've been on here and the PPML for some 18 years. I listed some of those gigs on the last page.
There are people out there more hardcore than me, thats for sure. Not always on the org too.
Regardless, enjoy your sceptism! .

Did you go to the first night at the point? I think that the night everyone was given a free NPG teeshirt as they were filming. That was the one of the two which was off the scale (both were brilliant though). .

To this date I can't listen to NOW! without thinking of the Point. It didn't work in the other European arenas, but at the Point, it hit the sweet spot. [Edited 2/14/14 18:11pm] .

Big question now is, are there pre-sales. I'm getting too long in the tooth to queue for 12 hours on Sunday! .

I hear Brixton coming too. That will have to be pre sale. Too big for on the door would be my guess. .

I'm holding out for Koko, fave venue in terms of sound quality (Brixton has always been meh to me) and Ronnie Scotts will be a no chance situation I imagine!

Well, it was a real privilege to be there tonight. My heart goes out to those left outside, bad luck, hope you get more chances before he leaves. Can't believe I got there quickly enough! I'm so glad there was a second show!
One of the highlights was standing in the lobby waiting to go in as the first show kicked out and spilled on to the balcony looking down on us, and you all started yelling at each other, all just so excited to be there. I've been to many Prince shows, but I didn't really realise how all you proper hardcore fans know each other, it was a sight to see.
Hello to the people I met: Vijay, Manish (apologies if that's not right, it seems many hours ago now!), David, and a woman whose name I forget, everyone was lovely.

Sorry, you are wrong on this one. Sure its an opinion, but an uniformed one as you weren't there. Sunday was not a marketing performance. I've seen Prince live over 200 times. I've seen him in a good mood, bad mood, rushed, interested or complacent. I know when he is going through the motions. Sunday was off the scale.
An awful lot of hardcore fans where there on Sunday and seem in unviversal agreement. The Sept 21st 2007 was a great one. Sunday was better. I'm in agreement. That was my 12th time seeing Prince live, nowhere near as many as some, but nicely spread out over the years since 1992 Diamonds & Pearls tour. I have no idea how it rated as one of the best ever but concur it was not a cold, dialled-in, disinterested performance. Prince was in one of his good fun moods, if funk faces and guitar noodling are becoming cliches to some of you, well that's unfortunate cos, well, that's just Prince IMHO. If you weren't there I don't really think you can comment objectively on the overall vibe. [Edited 2/14/14 21:24pm] Just somewhere in the middle,

Nope. It's culture. Behaviour. Their choice.
And it might indeed NOT be the case that their family is engaged in practises like that. The moderation is thus quite premature. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Hi all,
As a sidenote to your conversation about number of gigs seen. 200 isn't that incredible nor impossible ( well it is, but now we talk technicalities about it ). Prince has been around over 30 years and during his earlier career he toured more. Catch a whole arena tour in Europe during 80's and that's 30 shows allready. If you talk numbers there are some acts that tour like crazy, Springsteen, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Elton John to name a few and they have equally insanely touring fans. Since 1999 Springsteen has done about 200 gigs in Europe alone and there is people who have seen most of them. Those who started back at 70's have impressive numbers Elton has 58 shows this year and his done 50-100 shows amost every year since who knows when. Metallica has played 74 shows in Scandinavia alone and for iron Maiden that count is 100. Pretty incredible numbers for one act to achieve in 4 countries with combined population of 25m.
So if yoy have will and money, especially Europe makes it possible to see huge amount of gigs within a short peroid of time with travelling beetween gigs sometimes no more than 50km. Just pic a new rising act as a favourite now and start counting
