The venues will have been booked well in advance, contracts need to be signed and everything so it woudlnt suprise me if they have been booked for a months, yet his management insist on giving us a few days notice, not bothered what the fans want/need to be able to get there.
Doesnt owe us anything but out of respect for the people who have supported him for years you would think they would think more of us to give suitable notice I honestly cant see Prince being in London for a month for the sake of some small shows, so i think it would be likely the shows will be in these first 2 weeks.
"out of respect for the people who have supported him for years"? What does giving people notice have anything to do with it? He's playing in and around London. Either way the shows will be sold out. What should they do, ask if you are really a true Prince fan when they sell you a ticket? Ha ha! Who knows, maybe they will be free. Shows/concerts/gigs are for ALL types of fans, new and old. And this comes from someone, myself, who has been a fan since Dirty Mind and has been going to his gigs since the mid 80's. Some people on here act if he really does owe them something. |

I doubt he will go outside London for this trip, gigs at short notice will be easier to fill in the capital, especially if the ticket price is likely to be high at small venues to make it pay.
I don't mind going to London for gigs, to tour costs allot of money and time to arrange for logistics, what annoys me is gigs at really short notice, that for anyone outside London make its very hard to attend, O2 was all in london and we had a couple of months notice to choose concert dates that work, book hotels, travel, arrange work leave etc. A weeks notice would be enough for most people to give a realistic chance to attend, I'm sure Prince's people knew last week the dates he would be playing and where, as the dates are based on Venue availability.

He did exactly the same thing in Amsterdam last year, let us know on Monday he would play on Thursday in a relatively small venue (Paradiso is smaller than an arena, but not as small as a regular club). It was still sold out. 0-+>Live4LoveAndLoveWillLive4U<+-0 |

What about the Indigo2, surprisingly free for February
Definitely an iconic venue that he likes
also a few free nights this week at the O2 sandwiched between Taylor Swift and Strictly Come Dancing |

I've just read on Facebook that things have changed a bit, LLH tweeted she's seeing Prince tomorrow and his PR company said in the release info regarding the new song on iTunes that Prince and 3rdeyegirl will travel in February. So no one knows still. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

He will sell out in london no doubt about it but the point being for example i need to give a weeks notice minimum for time off, and if someone else is off i cannot be off too, and this is the same for most people but there are 1000's around great britain who will have been waiting for him to come back to the UK, why only focus on London with next to no notice at all? Based on the fact he will still sell out it seems a little lazy in my opinion, probably not on Prince's behalf, as it is his management who will arrage the shows, who are well... Based in London! They could have sold out some places such as The HMV Ritz Manchester and done a gig in every city over the same amount of time, which if your promoting an album makes alot more sense and generates more publicity, who knows, maybe his label have told him he needs to do 'X' amount of shows int he UK to promote it in his contract and they have just been lazy about it and done London to comply?
The average person to go to london, you would have ticket prices which wont be cheap, train fare which at short notice is usually more than double because you miss out on the advance purchase, then Midweek hotels in london are no less than £130. you could go on holiday for the same amount if not less all inclusive.
I think i will be hanging on for soem European dates probably be cheaper to fly somewhere than go London

That's why the UK folks should start phoning/asking around to find out the venue(s).
No info yet on those...
The venues would be under strict instructions not to give any info so phoning around potential clubs etc won't get you anywhere Homer Simpson: "I call the big one Bitey"!! |

Yep, unless its publicised by the people who have contracted the venue with them they wont be allowed to promote it in anyway, it will be a breach of contract and essentially Prince could sue. |

He is currently in a record contract to be able to release material he wants to release I believe,But the label will still require him to do promotion as part of this deal, otherwise how would it benefit them for him to release an album on their label if it isnt properly promoted through gigs etc...?
And i work in business travel/events management, the majority of my clients work/stay in london on a weekly basis which I book them in to, Mid week you will struggle to get a hotel any less than that at short notice. Weekend isnt quite as bad but hotels hike their prices up mid week for 'business clients' because its busier |

I don't think Prince ever does anything because someone says he must do it. Even a management, of he has any.
And I agree with onecrush, there are plenty of cheap hotels and hostels in London, and otherwise there's still couch surfing. A stay in London really doesn't have to be expensive. 0-+>Live4LoveAndLoveWillLive4U<+-0 |

Course he has management, Kiran Sharma is his manager, although he has a big say in his music these days and what he wants to put out, there are still other prceedures he has to follow to be signed to his label who will be putting the Album out for him, laying out for distribution and things.
I know what you mean about hostels and things and personally I wouldnt stay in one, we have a team who book them for University clients but always have so many complaints about cleaness/noise etc... and thats from Students. haha.
Travelodge which is one of the worst brands will cost £100 at short notice, then you have the cost of drinks on the night and train cost.
Each to their own I guess, If he steps outside of London its a bonus, but a the moment I think london will be off the cards for me and I hope the guys from here who want to go manage to get tickets.
Even a daytime show would be great and be able to get a train home after, one can hope or a stream to one of them at the very least

Man, this uncertainty around tickets and venues makes me afraid of missing this one out... hopefully there will be some kind of announcment to let us know when to get tickets. Or maybe not, maybe it's better that it is low key so I have a chance of getting a ticket...if I am on the internet 24/7....
And now off to refresh all my links to potential sources.....

I've just checked the BBC 6 music schedule. Nothing on there about first play Prince and 3rd Eye Girl.
Looks a shocking evening line up to be fair, so P would certainly improve it!
Impromptu gig tonight a la Koko Club? I cant believe that was 7 years ago.....boy I was tired when i drove home, er correction, drove home from London straight to work! Couldnt beat the experience even if that Girl tried to maul him on stage!
Just flicking through my pics taken on my dodgy camera on my flintstone phone.....groovy times!
Lets hope we all hear soon!

Now it's past 4pm anything tonight is not going to be anymore than a turn up on the door with some minor celeb in attendence at best. Could still happen if annouced in the next couple of hours but not holding out any hope that it's the sort of thing I'd want to see.
Looking more likely that it's going to all come to light tomorrow. |
