It was EXCELLENT...the best Prince concert I've been to (when comparing to others, been to ONA Live and 3 x 02 arena).

Before the show started they played old videos of Prince proteges like The Time, The Family, Mazarati, Taja Sevelle, Patti LaBelle, Brown Mark - it was great to see these vids as I hadn't seen most of them before! I don't think many people knew those songs but it was a real treat for us more hardcore fans!

Prince was very playful and fun and made lots of facial expressions at the audience, he seemed to be having fun and so did his band!

It made me laugh when he kept singing at the edge of the stage in front of the Danger/Noise signs!!

He was an excellent showman as ever, keeping good eye contact with different parts of the audience.

There was a nice atmosphere and Prince seemed to thrive off it too....it is a good little festival, not too crowded and nicely spaced out.

Not just crazy P fams either, there was a good cross section of society and age groups there which added to it.

Perfect weather too....well worth seeing him at a festival!!! I hope he does it again someday.

If there was a TV feed or a DVD of this, this would be all you need to convince your friends/family into understanding why you like Prince so much!!!

Really good fun!!

Just wrote this quick writeup on my Tumblr after getting back from the gig.

Just got back from seeing Prince headline at Hop Farm Festival. Prince and the NPG straight up KILLED IT! The band, John Blackwell on drums, Morris Hayes and Cassandra O’ Neal on keys, Ida Nielsen on bass, Shelby J and Liv Warfield as backing vocalists, and Andy Allo playing guitar and backing vocals…. were simply tight as hell.

and Prince was on FORM! Almost like he had something to prove! After opening with the new song “We Live 2 Get Funky”, they played hit after hit after hit! Let’s Go Crazy, Delirious, Take Me With U, Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain, Kiss, Controversy, Raspberry Beret, If I Was Your Girlfriend, 1999, Cool, U Got The Look, Nothing Compares 2 U, Cream…..and more! Larry Graham came out for an appearance and they did Everyday People and I Wanna Take You Higher…Prince disappeared at one point and let the girls play a song, called "Make You Feel My Love"... it was incredible. At one point all 5 of them were singing and it was great!

What else? Oh yeah, purple glittery confetti type stuff was blasted out over the audience during Purple Rain… and in the 20 minutes prior to the performance, in what was a great touch, the video screen played music videos by proteges and Paisley Park artists! I couldn’t believe it! They played the videos for Mazarati’s “Players Ball”, The Family “Screams Of Passion”, Taja Sevelle’s “Love is Contagious”, Brownmark’s “Bang Bang” and more.

I bet 95%+ of the people at the festival had no idea who any of them were, but for us Prince fans, it was AWESOME! There’s a new tour t-shirt for the Summer tour, so I bought one of those too.

Anyway… I’m tired! Took some pics and vid clips, will upload tomorrow if the quality is any good.

Just got back (super smooth journey home as managed to find somewhere nearby off site to park!)...one of the best Prince shows I've seen!

Some interesting points:-

- Prince came on on 8:45, half hour late (wouldnt normally have been bothered but think I was still tired after Foo Fighters adventure last night, that coupled with the usual festival w*nkers pushing their way to the front 5mins before showtime when you've patiently staked out your spot hours prior! Grr! )

- Maybe some issues at the start with sounds levels? Band were standing around for a min or two waiting to start before Prince came out, with a "Err, what now?" vibe. Prince jammed over the opening number "Live 2 Get Funky" to get the sound levels straight.

- He looked a little moody when he first came out but it took him all of 30 seconds to realise how much love there was in the audience and how many proper fans there were there, and it was all smiles from there on in!

- Perfect festival setlist, hit after hit, with some of the big guns like 1999 and Corvette coming very early on. No slow ballads, long jams or obscure songs, so the audience never had a chance to get disinterested. Excellent move by Prince. Good choice of festival friendly covers, Dont Stop Til You get Enough, Come Together, Play That Funky Music

- Prince was in an excellent mood. Lots of big smiles and good amount of chatter with the audience...great joke about Sinead O'Connor, "This is HER song, haha"..."I brought me a new house with this song"...very funny!!

- Four encores I think...those that werent hardcore Prince fans were surprised he kept coming out.

- Awesome, tight rendition of Purple Rain...sounded so close to the album version, and wonderful to hear it at a proper festival after all this time. Crowd were loving it, purple confetti was great touch!

- Plenty of proper fans in the audience to give all his songs the attention they deserved. Some great outfits and getup...where did that massive piece if purple material come from that got passed back and where did it end up?!!

- Prince was killing the dance moves tonight, lots of footwork and booty shaking!

- Lots of people saying that Glastonbury really missed out not having him as this set tonight with have floored the Glasto crowds...Prince would have blown their minds. Instead he came to my doorstep in Kent and played the show of his life!! Thank you Prince!

Guess you could say for the hardcore fan it wasnt a great setlist, just the usual big hits....but...

...it was what the festival show had to be, hits for fans and hits for those that arent big Prince fans. And it was the way he played them....havent heard those hits played with that much power and emotion in a long time...he was rocking all of them, and didnt look at all bored. It was like he was playing them for the first time all over again.

Personal highlight, Little Red Corvette...slightly slowed down version with great audience singalong...powerful stuff!

Oh, and as other people have said...the old school music / Prince underlings videos before he came out were AWESOME!!!

If someone could post a full set list I would be very grateful...said I would do a CD for my little sister of the show (this was her first Prince gig, after three days straight shows for her, Take That on Thurs, Wireless festival Friday, Foos Saturday, and she was totally blown away...another full Prince convert!)

Great show, predictable setlist, but that was OK.

Not as good as Paris on Thursday, but had a good time.

Just back. We had to leave at the end of the cover song encores with Larry Graham to fight through to the back of the field to catch the coach - very convenient and easy so would use them again.

I fucking loved it. Of course I was expecting a setlist I'd seen before - although I'd never been there to see him do Let's Work so that was the one I screamed my head off for when the opening bars started - but of course it's a festival and not everyone knows much beyond a single disc of 'The Very Best of Prince'. An absolutely perfect setlist for the event and Prince being in a great mood made it magical.

I just fucking HATE the lying pushers that can't seem to grasp the fact of the people they're screwing over having been stnding still for hours upon hours to secure their space. I didn't mind letting the little kids with parents through as I knew they were going to leave after Tinie Tempah - it was the other cunts that seriously deserved a drenching from a pint glass filled with piss.

Never mind that, Prince made it all better and we still had plenty of room to dance and ended up with some great people around us. We're even contemplating going back next year if the line-up is decent as the whole place had a lovely atmosphere with it being so family orientated.

Got here for 6. Parking was easier than shopping at Cambridge! Wound the window down and I nearly threw up at the sound of Larry!

I still do not understand all this shit you give Larry Graham. The man is a funk legend who still performs well today after all these years. Show some damn respect. The sides of the stage were bulging with people trying to catch his set - including one John Blackwell and one Shelby J who were both seriously LOVING it!

Great show tonight. Had a fantastic view from the front. And to think I wasn't going to bother! The man is on his game. Enjoy the rest of the tour people.

Ellie - I'm really glad you enjoyed it - it was amazing eh?

BUT - you really have to chill on this whole "lying pushers" thing! First off - you can't "secure a space" in a field! Its not seated, nothing is reserved, it is a free-for-all! In general, everyone I encountered was very respectful. However, I'd been stood in a spot all day (since Imelda May), with friends, but we all had to go off at some stage to either get drinks or get some "natural relief"! There's plenty of genuine people trying to get back to their mates - I did it at least 5 times today!

And, if they're not and they're just trying to get a better spot - well, good luck to em! If you're prepared to try and fight your way through the crowd, then you get what deserve. People plotted in front of me, but then I plotted in front of someone early on in the day - ok not as busy, but I still stood in front and behind of other people.

Simply, don't let other people being there ruin your enjoyment - you are at just as much liberty as them to get a better spot if you so choose - its an open field!

Nah, loads of people were coming back and forth and they were fair game, all fine and obviously getting back to their friends that were visible.

In our spot someone who had fainted from behind was rushed through to the front, then other people pushed through pretending to be concerned friends, then stopped dead in front of us to watch the rest of the show. Idiots.

It didn't spoil any enjoyment at all, just the hours of waiting obviously made tiny grievances of being in a standing crowd more prevalent.

P.S. Loved the pre-show videos. I hadn't heard some of those songs for years music

Def up there with the best Prince concerts I have seen, Tinie Tempah was áwful, but i knew that after seeing his Glastonbury performance.

Pity you did not get to see Aloe Blacc, he set the tone from 1pm, then I knew it would be a great day...

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
