Is Prince IN on this joke? Because this guy was all OVER the crowd on the floor, taking photos, hugging, etc. I was wondering, as Prince isn't usually this people friendly! But if he's not in on the joke, I'd think he'd be offended by someone taking the spotlight for a bit? Curious!
Here's another clip of Marcus, who does not know Prince personally:

I would hope all those screaming fans realize it's an impersonator and are just playing along, because IMO he doesn't look anything like Prince.
That's not my Prince baby looks like he needs braces:-D ♥ Feeling Purple Rain...Don't hold on 2 the pain, hold on 2 the memories ♥

Does anyone know the band members, as well as the three singers he had on stage? I used to know them by heart, but he seems to change them a lot anymore!
Also, I don't think it was a "real" piano. All those snippets of different songs (Black Sweat, The Most Beautiful Girl in The World, etc.) he played were recordings, he wasn't singing them live. I think it was some sort of electronic machine made to look like a piano, which surprised me!

Awesome concert in Greensboro!!! Prince is so unfreakin-believable. And so many classic songs. Personal highlights were DMSR, Cool, Controversy, Let's Go Crazy/Delirious Medley, 1999, and then the ending of set 2 with Jungle Love / The Bird / Play that Funky Music. Just such an awesome experience seeing Prince and the band. Totally interactive and entertaining -- unbelievable how fast time flies.
I may have to do some scouting to see if anyone else in the band has a homecoming show -- there seemed to be a little something extra for the Greensboro show. Awesome time!!!! |

He crawled around on the stage! I mean, crawled and wriggled a bit. Now, he did not go humping the floor...obviously trying to keep it PG, but the man got ON the floor and, basically, got all sexy. He also got on top of the piano...ok, that is nothing new right? But when he decided to lay on TOP of the piano on his belly, and PULL himself to the other side, while making that "Let's make serious love" face.....well that was it for me. I was in awe. I had not seen that from him in a while! A long while!
Yes, girl. Pulled himself across that piano just like he was stalking you. . .you know what that was? That was the look from the Violet the Organ Grinder video---when he was in the sheets moving all around . . .oh man. . .I gotta stop. If you haven't seen that video, you must find it NOW.
He was so sexy last night. . .Purple Rain was nearly 13 minutes long. . .he toyed with us more than usual, made some very suggestive comments. . . I think all that is even sexier than humping the stage.

Well, I have seen Prince many many times live....But I am here to tell you...tonight, he rocked it out! Now don't get me wrong...he always, always works it, but tonight the energy level was through the roof!!!!!! He played some of the "hits" but he played so much more too! He was into the crowd and the crowd was totally feeding off of it. He busted out with some jungle love....whew! Extraordinary....Insatiable.....
I can barely think right now. It was really really an awesome performance. He was on FIRE!
Now, on another note...when he pulled the crowd of folks up to dance...one girl got too close to the edge and fell OFF. I am not kidding...I HOPE she is OK. She just did not realize how close she was to the edge, her heel went off the side and she went over the edge. Prince and the band did not see it because the girl was behind all the other people dancing and Prince and the band were on the other side of the people. If anyone has any info on the lady, let me know. Just hope she is alright.
Other than that mishap, the show was totally on fire. I cannot stress this enough....what a show!!!
She was fine, she got back up on the stage a few minutes later. She was wearing the short mini-dress. Was an awesome show! |

*** Okay girls..how many of your minds went straight to the gutter on that one*...

This was my children first Prince concert. One of my daughters said that she can see why I love him, she said ma he is bad!!! and my other daughter said she feel like buying all of his cd's...We had a ball !!!! I still can't belive that I was the next one on stage when they decided 2 not let any one eles on the stage.
Glad to hear you had a great time. I knew you would. Too bad you didn't quite make it onstage. I was looking for you!

Many of my impressions of the show have already been stated here. It was a great time, and Prince was very high-energy and playful. Personally, I think the 1st 1/3 of the show was the best--he seemed to be really riled up and was very energetic. DMSR is a wonderful choice to open the show, and I was pleased to hear Musicology and Extraordinary, since those are more recent (relatively speaking) tracks. It was also nice to hear even that little snatch of TMBGITW during the sampler medley--the place blew up when he started it. I think he could still play that one live and get as strong a response as many of the classic ballads.
While the encores were strong and his voice was wonderful throughout, he seemed to be slowing down just a tad by that point. For a two-hour show--not super-long, but not short either; right in the realm of reasonable--it felt like a very full evening and it was fine with me that he didn't come out for another encore--BUT: I do think it's a bit silly to leave the stage to set up for the first encore only an hour and some change into a show. (It was little sad--several folks from my row actually left in the middle of Purple Rain, thinking it was over.)
All in all, very satisfying, and probably my favorite of the four times I have seen him. It was a pretty full house (only a few empty spots toward the top) and the crowd was enthusiastic. It's also nice to see that Prince's forty-something fans are dressing a tad more respectably these days. Not too much oozing and spillage, overall.
no one mention when he teased the crowed by playing Nickie pretending that he was going 2 sing it...I thought that was so cute, i said 2 myself Prince is full of jokes. I'm moving soon i feel like this was my going away party:-D
Honey, when I thought he was going to do Darling Nikki, I freaked! I was like, Please!! LOL. Yes, he was up there laughing and shaking his head, like...uh uhhh, I cannot do that. LOL -you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude! |

People were screaming in my section "There goes Prince" and I told the group I was with that it was not him (one girl was like I don't know. It looks like him). The forehead was different, the mouth looked different and his swag was WAY off! I noticed it from the time he showed himself (especially by the walk). "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. From the heart of Minnesota here come the purple Yoda guaranteed to bring the dirty new sound! Come on, now!" |

Not much to say that has not already been said but here goes.....
It was my first Prince concert and it was excellent!!!! I enjoyed every minute of it. From the Prince impersonator, to the anticipation and then the actual show, every minute was fun and memorable.
I was left wanting more and I was one of those fans that had to be asked to leave because I was haging around hoping that Prince would come out for an encore.
I hope Prince takes his vitamins supplements, eats his Wheaties, veggie platters or whatever it is that keeps him in looking fine, in good shape and good health at the age of 50 because I definately want the opportunity to see him live again in the future.
Thank you for a great show Prince and I hope for many more in the future. [Edited 3/28/11 8:04am] |

I wish there was a front shot of this VERY picture. His look on his face had me wide eyed and mouth barely able to say a word. He was allowing a bit of the old Prince to peek through. And I, I, I actually liked it "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. Has the local newspaper posted a review of the concert?
I've been looking, but their site is pretty bad.
If anyone can share a link to a concert review, that would be great.

Like everybody's been saying, the show was terrific! I was hoping to hear "Shhh" and a full version of "When Doves Cry", but I had a great time regardless. The highlights for me were "Little Red Corvette" (hadn't heard that slow arrangement - loved it), "Cool" (too funky) and "Adore" (no explanation needed). Oh, "Musicology" was thumping too!
And yeah, the big dude prancing around the stage with the handkerchief was hilarious!
OMG I can't wait til tonight!!!! Sounds like it was awesome!!!!
