Like everybody's been saying, the show was terrific! I was hoping to hear "Shhh" and a full version of "When Doves Cry", but I had a great time regardless. The highlights for me were "Little Red Corvette" (hadn't heard that slow arrangement - loved it), "Cool" (too funky) and "Adore" (no explanation needed). Oh, "Musicology" was thumping too!
And yeah, the big dude prancing around the stage with the handkerchief was hilarious!
Oh yes it was! That dude was a trip. Wish I could have seen you there!
Me too. |

This was my first Prince concert... and I have to echo what everyone else has said... it was absolutely f*ing incredible... I was in the upper level, but had a great view of the stage (seriously wish I had a camera phone that worked!)... the place was rockin' and it was just awesome. Even my boyfriend, who is not necessarily a fan, thought it was a great show, and said it was abundantly clear that Prince still loves what he does. I definitely could have stayed there all night listening to him play.
(And I was curious if that was really him walking around before the show... glad to hear that I was right that it was an impersonator)
Both of my daughters and my sisters told me that after the show the guy walked right in front of them and they could tell that it wasn't Prince. My seat was in row 9 but I was in the first row the whole time. This was my best concert because i never been this close 2 Prince
This was my children first Prince concert. One of my daughters said that she can see why I love him, she said ma he is bad!!! and my other daughter said she feel like buying all of his cd's...We had a ball !!!! I still can't belive that I was the next one on stage when they decided 2 not let any one eles on the stage. |

The show was really good, crowd was into it completely, an overall better show than in Raleigh (except DMSR and the duet with Chaka) I haven't seen him crawl around on stage in years. So seeing that was really a surprise and cool.
Just wished he had come out for one more last jam.
But then again I am a greedy hardcore Prince fanatic. |

Hi. I'm new here. Are you the one who bought a floor ticket for yourself and then two in the upper level for your daughters? If so, I remember you posting that your girls would freak out if you got on stage, and you almost did!! What section were you sitting in? I'm dying for Prince to announce some Southern California dates. I saw him once at the Nokia here in Los Angeles and he was incredible. The concert wasn't super long though because that was the night he did 3 concerts in one night at different clubs. I can't wait to see him again!! |

I really don't think it was this guy....I told my friends that I know Prince's mouth and lips and this guys lips were exactly like Prince's. He came out of the arena after 95% of the crowd had cleared out. I don't know, I'm gonna keep my dream and say I got to hug Prince last night....lol
It was indeed that guy, by the way.

This was the ninth time I've seen him live and easily the best experience! The Coliseum Authority needs to send him a bill for a new roof, cause the old one was blown completely off! I had floor seats, sitting directly behind John Blackwell, in front of the riser that Mr. Hayes was on. At first I was a little upset by the seating, as I thought it wasn't going to be a good vantage point, but instead I got to watch the concert from the band's point of view. The NPG was a finely tuned wrecking crew last night, killing us w/precision and turning on a dime at Prince's instruction. The coliseum was packed, and the energy was great throughout the night. I think Prince wanted to "bring it" a little bit because this is Shelby's home area, and he fulfilled! Here is the playlist:
D.M.S.R.
Pop Life
Musicology
Don't Stop Till You Get Enough
Cool
U Got the Look
Misty Blue (Sung by Shelby, P went to change)
Raspberry Beret
Take Me With U
She's Always In My Hair
Controversy
Housequake (just a snippet)
The Cross (instrumental, used as intro to>)
Let's Go Crazy
Delirious
1999
Little Red Corvette (verses sung as a slow jam, chorus regular)
Purple Rain
Piano/DJ set (Band break):
When Doves Cry
Nasty Girl
Darling Nikki
Sign O'The Times
Alphabet St.
The Most Beautiful Girl in the World
The Bird (band returns)
Jungle Love
Love Rollercoaster
Play That Funky Music (big fruity brotha was HILARIOUS!!! P was like "WTF!?!")
Which Way Is Up?
Kiss ("U don't have to watch...Real Housewives")
If I Was Your Girlfriend
Insatiable
Scandalous
Adore
I heard a blurb of Black Sweat in there somewhere too. I think it was the second encore? |

PREACH! I was there with my best friend (and some of our kids) and we were sharing some serious "knowing glances," not wanting to downright squeal in ecstacy in front of the kids. |

He crawled around on the stage! I mean, crawled and wriggled a bit. Now, he did not go humping the floor...obviously trying to keep it PG, but the man got ON the floor and, basically, got all sexy. He also got on top of the piano...ok, that is nothing new right? But when he decided to lay on TOP of the piano on his belly, and PULL himself to the other side, while making that "Let's make serious love" face.....well that was it for me. I was in awe. I had not seen that from him in a while! A long while! -you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude! |

And please let me clarify that, it was not all that sexiness that made the show so great. All that sexiness is always an extra bonus, but all that talent and energy from him and the NPG. That band is banging. Prince is on fire....moving as if he were a teenager. I mean, the man is such an awesome dancer/performer.
I took a friend (I took several friends to this show) that knows Prince, but was never a huge fan. She walked out of there saying, "Omg, he is such a wonderful performer."

Yes, girl. Pulled himself across that piano just like he was stalking you. . .you know what that was? That was the look from the Violet the Organ Grinder video---when he was in the sheets moving all around . . .oh man. . .I gotta stop. If you haven't seen that video, you must find it NOW.
He was so sexy last night. . .Purple Rain was nearly 13 minutes long. . .he toyed with us more than usual, made some very suggestive comments. . . I think all that is even sexier than humping the stage. |

He definately did P&the Band in Musicology. He also did Let's Work after Cool. I agree that ist was a great show and better than Raleigh. I think holding the piano medley and slow jams until the end helped raise the energy early. More jamming on the guitar than Raleigh and it seemed like he played more full songs.
Oh and that gold suit was kicking. My wife's only complaint was that he did not do enough costume changes. |
