Depends. If you are someone who goes to both concerts and wants to takes as many songs as can be heard, then yes. If you just go to one of them it shouldn't be an issue (as Prince once mentioned by stating that he didn't see the use of going to more concerts after eachtother of the same artist).

You do realize that this is Prince.Org! There is always someone here to help you share your disappointment. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

If you just go to one of them it shouldn't be an issue (as Prince once mentioned by stating that he didn't see the use of going to more concerts after eachtother of the same artist). you had to go to both concerts to see one whole concert. The set was so short it seemed like it was actI and act II of one concert. But the break between the two parts was way to long and frustrating. But that's my only complaint. The music was from heaven. Clear, focused totaly different of any liveperformances of the past. Who would have recognized little red corvette: "slowdown" just great. I got shivers during I love you but I don't trust you anymore, and empty room did bring tears to my eyes. What's a grownup man got to do, crying at a concert? And then the beautifull ones, just to much. Nothing compares to you did me realise the heaven must be near. Thanks God, there was a second show. different atmosphere, rock, harder, more guitar, less ballads. stratus, there we go, now you we sure we were going to hae a different part two. All shook up, yeah we were. Peach, Spanish castle, when you were mine, where are you takings us? but then again to some same songs as the first set. All of a sudden, "put the lights down, we're going to do something different" All the criticts love you with : "does anybody know about the quake?" and "purple high" and gee I'm getting old, I forget to easely. but everybody was jumpinmg up and down. And then purple rain as a finale, especialy for all the people who went to see him for the first time, he played it like it was his first time also. How does he keep putting that much emotion in that song after playing it a zilion times. a true master. great finale.

I know where you are coming from... I loved it and I'm pleased I went to both but wish the set list had been different on the 2nd concert. He has to know that plenty of us would go to both gigs!

Amazing setlist (1st show) and the second show must have been amazing too!
Does anyone think that he played some same songs to pick the best of the 2 later for a DVD or something?? MPLSOUND

They were both amazing showand I do think that he played some doubles because of a DVD. 90 minutes is though a bit short, especially because I have seen him raraly in such a good mood with such a great vibe. He really teared the place down. So 15-30 minutes extra wouldn't have harmed anyone [Edited 7/19/09 2:38am]

as great as all this sounds-lets not get carried away too much on the thought of dvd's etc. Coachella was also filmed-and how many times did we hear that was going to dvd-or Lotus or whatever-and alot got upset when it didn't we know we'll hear it at least-and much as i hate to say this-we'll no doubt be hearing it long before Lotus have it-if ever man i REALLY am buzzed to hear this-and if i ever see it-what a super bonus-but i'm not expecting it

"He has to know that plenty of us would go to both gigs!" At the "One Night Alone" soundcheck Prince would get eager to talk to the audience and he asked the band to stop. He said something along the lines: "Can we just take our time? Let's just talk!" He would come down from the stage and just sit there talking to the audience for a while (about 30 minutes or so). One of his anecdotes: telling us all - with a big smirk on his face, that would tell you he appreciates it - he constantly has to change setlists, since his fanbase loves coming to more than 2 shows. He indeed knows! You all are fantastic! Nothing compares to a Prince Fans Live-Report-Show. Thanx so much for the live updates!

the only way lotuswitheredflower will release this is by charging a hefty price tag (remember the T&Cs of the site, they can charge for "premium" content?). Cynical, yup ...

Why not a Walter Cronkite, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays, Steve McNair, Carl Mauldin tribute? Or a tribute to all the people who died in China recently? [Edited 7/18/09 18:32pm] Exactly, why not? Something as subtle as "this is dedicated to all the friends we've lost recently" and then go into a spiritual song.

Yeah i know-as is Come Together-but the whole show was filmed.....
and only 2 clips ever surfaced im just saying-don't over expect this all again im not actually having a go-i'm actually TRYING to not moan about Lotus now i've had my moans. Nothings changed-so if it does-brilliant. If not-well i guess i must've been right when I said Prince obviously feels he had already put enough on there. I can hardly change HIS mind on anything-and there is more to liking Prince than a web site-so i'm TRYING to move on 2 be completely honest-im more into hearing last night than anything else at the mo

Why would he think any of us would be at the gigs. Let alone both of them. 95% of the people on here have been crying about $77.00 for the past few months. A trip to the Jazz Festival must've cost more than that. I was thinking the same thing about Purple rain - played like it was his first time! It's brilliant every time but this time had another layer of intensity. I'm pretty sure - IF there ever is a DVD (I doubt it - but: pretty, pretty pleeeeease??!!) - they will make the two into one show, using the better versions of the repeated songs. (Not that I could see anything wrong with the 1st versions!) Nobody changed clothes between show 1 and 2 so it'll look seamless, like one killer 2 hour show. He only changed for the last two encores of the 2nd show (into the Crimson&Clover top). I for one was not disappointed to hear any of the songs twice. I feel with that energy he releases on stage it's like a whirlwind that catches you and you can't help but being swirled around in it. It may go round in circles but as you're flying along in that hurricane you'll never feel like "hey, I've been here b4, I've seen this side!", are you? That's what it felt like for me, being swept along in the whirlwind of the energy, every moment felt unique, each song unique in the context of the show. I'll never tire if hearing any of his songs live. After all, if he can play Purple Rain like it was the first time, even after all these years, why can't we hear it & enjoy it, sing along with it &swing our arms - like it was the first time? Did I leave anything out? yeah u left out lip synching, and showing shots of people passing out and being carried off in stretchers man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

You must've been fairly near me, as I had a guy in front keep lifting his g'friend up - she must be heavy tho, 'cos he only lifted her for 5 secs at a time Still, better then the girl next to me who spent the 1st show with her face pressed into the back of the guy in front of her, who kept backing into her... I agree. The repeated songs were powerful enough to not upset me. I do think the shows could've been a little longer but maybe 90 mins is typical for a MJF slot. Who knows? I so did not understand the zone badge thing for those attending the two concerts and the 2 staff members we asked were not helpful so decided to go back to our hotel to claim the complimentary cocktail and then went back and watched the fireworks display from the bar area of festival hall.
