most likely it will be announced the first week of July, when most people in Europe have made plans already for their vacation ...
Ticket sales will be a mess, as there is more demand than actual tickets, even if Prince decides to sell tickets for Euro 77 a show

I hope Prinski will perform at Montreux. Would it really be held at the Auditorium Stravinski? But why do they spell Stravinski that way?

Not long ago I read an essay on Stravinsky. At the time it reminded me of Prince. The essay is from a book by Jonah Lehrer called “Proust was a Neuroscientist”. It is mostly about how great artists arrive at the essential truth before scientists: artists get it through intuit; scientists then later ploddingly prove what great artists already knew.

Lehrer uses Stravinsky as an example. The way he describes him, Stravinsky was a real hipster. He considered daring to be the “motive force of the finest and greatest Artist.” Stravinsky was an explorer and a genius. He was confidently controversial. He was the funk of his day.

I hope Prinski will rock it at the Auditorium Stravinski in Montreux. If he does, I will want to be there.

Well, I'm pretty much convinced that Prince will be performing or at least, that they are definitely tyring to get him! I wrote to the organizers 3 weeks ago and told them that I heard that Prince will play and asked them when they will release the program for the 18th. They responded that they will release the program soon!

Yesterday I mailed them again and again mentioned Prince and told them that it would be nice to finally find out what the program will be, as things need to be organized! They responded that they understand, but need to be sure, before they could release a name but will release it soon! I wrote back to them asking if they could confirm that the artist will NOT be Prince and this time they didn't respond!

And like somebody previously said... the longer they keep it a secret, the more likely it will be Prince!

Indeed.
The way this is handled, and it may not even be mr P's fault, is (on the verge of) childish and irresponsible.
Give us the info.
Tell us whether he is coming or not.
We could have booked dedcent trips, hotels etc buit now everything has to be more cumbersome and more expensive.
THANKS!

Well, they answered to both my queries within a couple of hours... and both times they didn't deny Prince's involvement... it doesn't really make sense to suddenly "not be arsed"! And if the Prince thing is totally not true, then why not just say so?? What do they have to gain from people thinking that Prince will show up!

@udo
Yes! It's getting ridiculous as I have other things to do, if Prince doesn't happen... this uncertainty is highly annoying!

Chaka Khan has announced she will be performing (on Montreux website) but nothing about Prince...perhaps he will make an unofficial appearance on stage instead!

Unofficial??? No chance !! If he's gonna drag his ass halfway around the world, it's gonna be for big $$$$ only, so therefore the promoters would be promoting him big time!
Still don't reckon it will happen, but if it does then wish I could be there...

^^Well, in 2007 his appearance got announced less than 2 weeks before the show! The show got announced on July 6th, Tickets went on sale on July 7th and the show was on July 16th! I hope they will announce this shit earlier though!

That describes the modus operandi but that doesn't mean it is right.

Indeed !!
I know Frederic Yonnet has on his site he is performing July 18th ... but I don't trust that kind of info anymore.
I think the Montreux Jazz camp is still thinking about the $4 million Prince is asking for his performance !!

It is all so immature

Yes, he has: http://www.fredyonnet.com/index.html

But he doesn't occur in the program '09, you can search by artist, by day, however... so he must be part of another formation that is to play there on the 18th of July...

It is just the same old same old...unless Prince has a contract he doesn't announce shit...unless he has a real tour planned he is a free agent...doesn't care really that people need to make plans, book hotels...and so on, He can do this because he delivers a good show...but mature would be different...

I don't think so. It's not only in his schedule but also in the 'home' section with a clear mention of prince.

I meant the program of the Montreaux Jazz Festival 2009, not what Frederic Yonnet says on his own site.

So Frédéric Yonnet is a member of Prince's current live band...

And Josh and Cora mention on their new website - one for the two of them - that they are Prince's "rhythmic duo" for "upcoming performances and concerts for 2009".

So true .. and besides, Prince probably asked teh band if they are interested to play the Monteaux festival. He did that after the 3 Los Angeles shows. He probably liked the idea of playing 3 different sets with 3 different bands.

So,Fred Yonnet putthat info on his site, not really knowing if contracts were signed whatsoever.

It would have been nice if itwas announced weeks ago, by now, all hotels will be booked, flights will become more and more expensive !

This logic is too far fetched for me.
You mean that his agenda does not reach farther into the future than a few weeks at most?

hahahaha, yes that's because he is a musician, they live on drugs, they don't do the thinking anymore. They have managers to do that
Hey manager, where I am next month? Boy, you will be in Europe, at a very big lake in Switzerland or France or Germany or whatever. You will be playing with Prince again. Prince doesn't know yet, but we do.
Just get your harmonica. That old Belgium guy will be there as well, so the competition is big
