I am living pretty close to Montreux and called them a couple of days ago. They were pretty unaware of Prince, even though I wasn't the first to ask that day. Madonna and U2 were some good rumors too.....

See the map at http://maps.google.com/ma...=9&iwloc=A

You can see Montreux and the lake.
The line through thel ake is the border between France and Switzerland.
To the south of Montreux you can follow the border until the point where France, Switzerland and Italy border on each other.
Zoom out to get a better idea of where this is.
Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Apparently, this news site has called the organization of the festival, asking them if Prince is going to play there. The answer was they are indeed in negotiations with the Prince team, but also with other American artists, and that no contract hasn't been signed yet. (the article is from 10 days ago)

Personally, I don't believe this talk about "the same rumour is circulating for Madonna or U2". Fansites of these 2 have no single mention about their artist playing the festival.

Cool! Thanks for the info! So at this point it's nothing more than wishful thinking and no signed contract, which they just wait to announce closer to the date! Of course, it's 10 days ago... so things could be different by now!

Hi everyone

i saw Prince for the first time life in Montreux in 2007 and it was great, especially the aftershow. i don't know if anything about the rumours that he will come again is true. But with every day that passes without saying who will play July 18th the chances that Prince will play get bigger.

And up to now nobody is anounced for the 18th of July. So lets hope the best

So is it safe to say that the shows are not going ahead??? There has been no developments since the announcement so what is happening?

No it isn't, as another person in here already stated: the closer we get to the actual festival without an announcement, the bigger the chance is that Prince will be playing.
Every other artist would have given green light for the announcement already because they are rational people and see no purpose for endlessly postponing it.
But it's Prince and I guess that explains it.

BTW We have already booked a hotel lol yes we are aware of the croke park fiasco, but at least we will be able to hear other great music if Prince doesn't show up, and the atmosphere is always great at the festival nod

I hope it goes ahead. I've been looking around for hotels etc and im going there by train so it would really set the mood of the concerts. Im just worring as i was one of the unlucky folks who booked to go Croke Park. Thats why i aint wasting any money until i see that everything is 100% confirmed and isnt just a rumour from that fool funkenberry.

Auditorium Stravinski TBA NEW

is the current status on the 18th

why do some performers have 'swiss exlcusivity' written below, what does that mean - restricted to swiss only?

Plus if any of you have been before, do you by a ticket for the venue? and watch all the acts? how does it work?

Yes you buy a Ticket and you get to see everyone who is announced on that night in that venue.

There are two Halls. The Strawinsky Auditorium and the Miles Davis Hall.

I know it's all crazy but he seems to like everything having to do with seven. So the 18.7.2009 wouldn't be so bad. 8-1=7, 7, 9-2=7 as well.

So he will surely come lol

3 weeks ago I wanted to create a new thread about the MONTREUX festival just in case someone (like myself) is still actually interested in attending the shows, meeting up with other fans, etc. Just a thread for fans in need of practical stuff and real information.

This is what was in my message on the other (immediately closed) thread :

There's so much HATE going 'round on that other MONTREUX thread, I decided 2 make a new 1. At this point Montreux is actually nothing more than a rumor so if anybody discovers some REAL info (in other words : if it actually becomes a real NEWS item instead of a rumor) please post it here. And keep up the POSITIVITY y'all !

It got closed immediately by one of the moderators and here's what he/she said :

it's actually more than a rumor, which is why we posted it on the front page. and if you're seeing too many lemons on the news item thread, then i guess it's time to start making some lemonade, no?

First of all, since it's not on the Montreux site or the LotusFlow3r site as we speak, IT IS A RUMOR. I'm almost certain it WILL happen, but until I can actually order tickets IT IS A RUMOR.
Secondly : although I was LOL about the lemon/lemonade remark, I can't believe you moderators actually encourage all this hate shit.

UPDATE : I see a lot of fans now asking for confirmation of this rumour, or practical information about the Montreux festival, should it happen. I'm sorry guys, but that's just what the mods over here don't want. That's what my other thread was supposed to be about.
Now : less than 7 weeks from the rumoured date and still now actual news !!! Hmmmmm....

Peace,
Bart

Hello just a quite note at the Stravinsky hall, upto a few years ago you could stand downstairs right up to the front, now the front half is seating and the cheaper standing tickets are towards the back on raised area. thats a real shame as not you cant really see that much unless you are at front of standing area. Jazz Cafe club is great venue so hope he plays there. as for 3rd venue then i suppose Harry's Bar but thats tiny.

In Stravinskiy, they often remove the front chairs for concerts usually (it was the case for 2007 Prince show and last year still). For info, seats are fully removable downstairs and it allows to (quite) double the capacity down there, be sure that they will NOT let any seat there..
