Peace out! | |

Just for info: 1990: Originally there was two concerts, however, the Friday nite concert had only sold about 10,000 tickets so it cancelled amd was combined with the Saturday show which was more or less sold out, giving a total attendence of 55,000, which at the time was the largest concert ever held in Cork. Pairc U Chaiomh at the time normally sold about 45-50,000 tickets for concerts. 1992: RDS in Dublin 28,000, not sold out. 1995: The first show was not sold out, but after word got around about how good the first concert was, the following night was completely sold out. As for Croke Park, I cant see P doing such a large stadium, and he definitely wouldn´t sell 80,000 tickets in Ireland, unless it was a one off European show. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

In the round at Croke park is mission impossible - there is no roof on the stadium to rig the lighting on
He would sell 80K tickets for sure - the 2 nights in cork was over-ambitious, not by Prince but buy the promoter who had only ever organised one concert before and only one subsequently before going out of business. There were approx 68,000 people at the concert - the highest of the nude tour. the D&P tour was fucked up for different reason - back in 92 pre internet and ticketmaster online, radio was the mechanism for driving sales and bizarre as it sounds the radio station that was scheduled to promote the gig went on strike and for 8 weeks ( centiry radio?) and there was no publicity and little knowledge of the dig. there were many tickets unsold i believe. live exp gig #1 one sold out in minutes, thes second show went on sale 20 mins later and also sold out and ONA sold out in 15 minutes and I know several people who could not get a ticket. Ireland is different country now anyway and all those 80's fans are rich (like me) - it'll sell out for sure. I did laugh out loud when i heard the police sold out in croke park, though the concert was roundly slated by critics and public alike 9 sorry 2 me so mean police fans, nothing personal). Hi Friends...
...I hate to put more fuel the rumour... But my sources tell me to expect tickets to be released by next fri with maybe an initial batch being released before then. Although nothing official is being mentioned, i am being told by a couple of different but equally reliable people that this is signed sealed and delivered. MCD should be announcing something soon... I know we have heard it all before and have been dissapointed and let down by shows over the years that never happened but there certainly is a buzz here in Dublin in all the right places...(just wonder who will announce it officially first...3121.MCD or Croke Park???) We wait and see

So that would be tickets on sale probably Fri 29 Feb?
Hmmm ... fingers crossed for a little later than that ... I'm hoping to get lucky for 4 tickets ... and guessing they will sell for 100 or 120 each (being pessimistic here) I think payday money will need to be set aside! Keep an eye on the Sunday papers methinks, I've often seen big gigs first announced via half page ads in the Sunday Times for example.

In keeping trend with adding fuel to the fire, P´s and my local dealer, has just told me that, due to enormous interest shown at the websites he has tried to sue, P has decided to play a free concert at the Phoenix Park in Ireland. Prince´s website will be offering these tickets for sale on the 30th of February, the remainder of the 1 million tickets will be given out free to support group U2.
For more info on this action log into www.3121.com PS ignore the black screen, it is merely there to ward off ticket touts If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

WOLFY [Edited 2/23/08 17:57pm] Are you on some kind of medication? Do you honestly think that Prince goes anywhere because thats what the "fams" want and just because one person asks him to goto Ireland he does it LOL - look how long it took him to return to Australia and I am sure lots of "fams" were asking him to go back there too. Who says he loves Ireland, oh don't tell me your taken in by that "I love you" *insert current country \ town \ city nonsense...he says that everywhere he goes. Prince's career is down to financials these days..if its viable and he wants to do it..he'll do it..you don't think he'd do 21 Nights In London for the fun of it do you? If he plays Ireland it won't be because of you so get over it, if he does play Ireland then please don't book VIP seats, I don't think I could stand more months of whinging when all you got was a bottle of fizzy water and some cheese sticks! You had a nice reputation on the NPGMC message boards if I remember and it wasn't favourable. Homer Simpson: "I call the big one Bitey"!!
