Ummm...just 3 concerts this tour?! DUBLIN-PARIS-MILAN!!!

http://www.ireland.com/ne...80728.html

POP MUSICIAN Prince is to play Croke Park in June, one of only three European gigs he is doing this summer. The announcement that he is to play the venue on June 16th will be made today.

Prince will be billing the gig as the last chance for his fans to hear his greatest hits live. His only other European shows are scheduled for Milan and Paris.

MCD promoter Denis Desmond secured Prince for Croke Park having spoken to the singer's management during Prince's 21-date stretch at London's O2 arena last summer.

Prince has been through many changes of musical style, image and even of name (he used to be known as "the artist formerly known as Prince") since he first made an international breakthrough with his album 1999 in 1982. He went on to become one of the biggest artists of the 1980s with albums such as Sign O' The Times and Purple Rain.

He has since had well- publicised rows with his record companies in which he accused them of treating him like a slave. His 2004 US tour was the highest-grossing that year and his appearance at the half-time NFL Super Bowl last year was regarded as one of the best of his career.

Tickets, priced at 66.50 euro's each, will go on sale from Wednesday, March 5th, on ticketmaster.ie and at Ticketmaster outlets

Prince is coming to Ireland
http://www.independent.ie...00704.html

It's one of the most soughtafter concert tickets ever.

The diminutive singer will play live in Croke Park and has said this will be the last time that he will play his greatest hits.

Promoters MCD announced today that the Purple One will take to the stage at Croke Park on June 16 for one night only.

His Irish concert comes on foot of his 21-date blockbuster tour where he thrilled fans by performing Purple Rain, Cream, Kiss, U Got The Look, Diamonds and Pearls, Raspberry Beret, Sign O The Times and many more.

Tickets from €66.50 (including booking fee) go on sale on Wednesday 5 March at 8am from 100 Ticketmaster outlets nationwide or online at www.ticketmaster.ie

so This is really the last time he will ever play his greatest hits?
I'm getting bored with this statement. we have been hearing this for years now. I mean, i don't think he should quit playing his hits, but would have no problems if he DID. Do have a problem with this being told every time to get as big a crowd at the concert as possible because maybe it is true, so you don't wanna miss.

[color=blue][b]its easy 2 take down a stage....just takes time n manpower..they often had 2 change the stage around 4 prince @ 02....they has 2 take down the symbol stage n build a different one 4 the mobos...elton john etc....its what im hearing from official channels....
needless 2 say im thrilled that he is playing ireland again....i hope everyone hasa fantastic time n dublin as its a great city n U will have memories that will last 4ever.

Just booked Wednesday morning off work so I can try and get tickets.

Here we go again with the old Ticketmaster fiasco. In a funny sort of way it will be like visiting an old friend, rekindling an old relationship - sort of looking forward to it. I wonder what passwords I will get, how many times I will get a knock back and that feeling of bliss when I finally get through. If I haven't got my tickets by 8.15am it will be a very different story!!!

We should take bets on what time the first sale appears on E-bay, probably before they even go on public sale shake shake shake shake

Anyway - so excited - role on June excited
so, what is the answer 2 the question of U

lol...yeah i know what U mean....the way they sold tickets 4 the 02 gigs was shameful but it was good news 4 some who got front row tix on the day of the gig 4 £31.21.
if he had sold tix 4 31.21 euros each he could fill croke park 4 10 nights.
we all know he IS the best per4mer right now.

just got a call from my inside man n he told me that plans r being put n place 4 a second gig at croker...this is not offically confirmed at this time as they r waiting 2 c how fast the tickets sell out.
if there r only 3 european shows this year this gig will sell out in 30 min r less n U can b sure ticketmaster will b jammed @ the time of sale.
also im being told that AEG live r involved n the shows...so better not buy VIP.

Interesting, someone just posted on another thread that there has been a tv advert for this, I guess someone is getting cold feet already. I think the choice of venue is very ambitious. If the symbol stage were to be used in the round, there could be up to 90,000 tickets available, considering that the stands can hold well over 80,000. However, I don´t think the symbol stage will be used, as I am sure the promoter will be relying heavily on the UK and other nearby countries to sell this out, and I cant see many willing to fork out loads of money to see a show they saw last summer, in a bigger venue.

This has me wondering if P has an even more eloborate stage idea in mind and if there will a new mindblowing album to accommpany it, or will there be some sort of 30/50th anniversary release.

One thing that certainly works in favour of this concert, is that neither Ireland or the UK countries are playing in Euro 2008, which begins on the 7th of June. It would be fantastic to see this concert sell out, and for Prince fans from around the globe to gather together and party Irish style guinness , there might even be purple Guinness for the occasion, Irelands first org invasion woot!
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Bitterly disappointed to be missing this concert.

Maybe I should tell the immigration officers what I really think of their new policies.... that should get me back in Ireland in time for the concert. biggrin
