superhero news #3 You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'm glad to see Natalie Portman back though. Most of the MCU movies have been at the very least enjoyable so I'm looking forward to Thor Love And Thunder. I really liked Ragnarok. Taika Waititi did a great job breathing new life into the character after the disappointing Thor Dark World. So I'm excited to see where we go in Love & Thunder. I hope Jeff Goldblum is back.

Ragnarok is my favorite Thor movie. Also IMO felt like an Avengers movie.

So far, MCU Phase 4 has been underwhelming (havent seen Spider-man yet).

I've watched the trailer now. Doesn't give much away, I'll say that. The Guardians are in it more than I thought but I assume their roles in the movie will be fairly small. I'm not a big fan of either Guardians Of The Galaxy movies but I've recently just finished the video game and I really enjoyed it. So much that it kind of changed my opinion on the characters themselves.

I loved Wandavision and Loki though and the Falcon & The Winter Soldier show was fun. Hawkeye was very enjoyable too. I liked Shang Chi. Mainly because I'm a huge Tony Leung fan and he didn't let me down. The rest of the movie was so-so. No Way Home is my favourite Spider-Man movie since Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2. And I'm really enjoying Moon Knight. So yeah, Phase 4 hasn't exactly blown me away either but overall, I'm enjoying it. The smaller stories are a nice change of pace from the world threatening Infinity War and Endgame. Looking forward, things are looking good. Doctor Strange 2 looks mental, Thor should be fun, Ms Marvel looks a bit "meh" but I suspect that's a show aimed at my sister's age group. I've come to terms with the fact that not everything is made for me. Aside from that, Daredevil is likely getting renewed so there's still hope for Jessica Jones. When all is said and done, I think Phase 4 will be seen as a solid, if unspectacular, development which will be used primarily to set up the next Avengers-level threat.

I'm with you on that. Everything about it screams CW Superhero TV show (and that's not a good thing). They killed off a bunch of Avengers and now it's like "here are the Enternals" uh, no thank you.

It sucked. That's my official review "Whatever skin we're in

Exactly. It just looks so bland. I'm sure I'll probably watch it at some point just in case it lays any groundwork for future movies in the MCU. I heard Blade has a cameo in it so that will probably lead to something bigger.

I heard it was a voice cameo from Blade. Possibly during one of the post credits scenes? So you wouldn't have seen him.

Looks like the "restore the Snyderverse" folks just got some more bad news. Ezra Miller (aka The Flash) keeps getting into trouble. Will be there for Thor and Dr. Strange and the last couple of movies for the rest of the core Avengers. But I'm completely underwelmed by most of the new comers. The Eternals made no sense to me given everything else. I won't be following the newer storylines as closely. Maybe an odd movie here and there, but it's pretty much over for me. It was fun while it lasted. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

He's a shit actor anyway so if he's replaced, I doubt he'll be missed. It should be interesting to see how WB deal with this though. They dropped Johnny Depp from that Harry Potter thing but kept serial abuser Amber Heard on for Aquaman.

According to an anonymous user on 4chan I'd love a new Hulk movie but this sounds like complete and utter bollocks. [Edited 4/21/22 2:05am]

It's actually probably my favourite DCEU movie. Which, admittedly, isn't saying much. Though, it's worth noting that Amber Heard has a completely different accent in Aquaman than she had in Justice League.

I don't see that happening to be honest. Those last Avengers movies might not have been your cup of tea but they made boatloads of cash and received pretty high critical acclaim. As a business, Disney would be incredibly stupid to just start over at this point. They are working on a new Fantastic Four movie though and they have the rights to X-Men now so hopefully there's some sort of middle ground that can be reached that would make you happy while also continuing to appeal to everyone else.

Does the first Wonder Woman movie count as apart of the DCEU? Is so that's my favorite DC movie

I've never been a comic book fan. Truth be told, I've never read any. So I suppose the fact that the MCU may not be accurate to the source material has never really bothered me. Tobey Maguire will always be my favourite Spider-Man. Maybe it's because I was the right age for his movies (I was 12 when the first movie came out) but to me, he'll always be the "real" Spider-Man. Just like Christopher Reeve is the "real" Superman and Michael Keaton is the "real" Batman. I never liked Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. Until No Way Home. He was actually really good in that and it made me wonder what he'd be capable of if they actually gave him a good script to work with. And I wouldn't be surprised if he was to play the character again at some point based on the public's reception to his performance in No Way Home.

It wouldn't be a bad way of introducing Miles Morales into the MCU. I think it would be a bit soon though. The three Tom Holland movies are essentially just his version's origin story. I have no doubt that Marvel probably will rush into introducing Miles Morales just for a bit of diversity, but I personally think it's too soon. I don't think you've seen No Way Home so I'll avoid saying anything too spoilery, but I think the best way of introducing Miles Morales would be through a new Andrew Garfield movie. It would make more sense for his character and where he's at to act as a mentor to a new Spider-Man. Something to give his life purpose now that he's on his own. That's how I'd do it anyway. Morbius is not only a bad movie but it also doesn't seem to fit in with any of the established universes. It doesn't really make sense. Even by comic book movie standards.
