Dr Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness - Mini Review No Spoilers. Yet ![]() Ok, so I'm just home now after seeing the movie on the big screen so it's still a bit too fresh in my mind to decide how it ranks amongst the rest of the MCU but I will say this; it's a really fucking good movie. I kind of half expected it to be full of cameos just for the sake of it and it's not. It's not that kind of movie at all. I will avoid including any spoilers here for those of you who want to go in with as little knowledge of the plot as possible so if, like me, you've managed to avoid any spoilers before seeing the movie, I think you'll enjoy it even more. Ok, first things first, I said it's not one of those "here's a cameo, there's a cameo" type movies and it's not. But that's not to say there aren't any cool cameos. In fact, there are quite a few. Just less than I was expecting. And if you've managed to avoid knowing who these cameos are, I strongly advise you to stay off Twitter until you see it because once the movie opens, people WILL be talking about these cameos. One in particular that I never saw coming. You've been warned! The movie itself is pretty standard MCU stuff for the most part. There's a few nice little Sam Raimi touches along the way but it's certainly not the dramatic departure that some of the trailers are suggesting. What sets it apart from the majority of the MCU is the performances. Some of the acting here is really top notch. Elizabeth Olsen is especially good. Like, Oscars-good. I doubt she'll actually be nominated but I guarantee you that her performance here is better than most, if not all, of last year's best actress nominations. Saying any more may give away some important plot details so all I'll say is her range in this movie is incredible. And I never rated her as an actress before today. Some of the CGI looked a bit weird to me though. That's my only real complaint. I wasn't wearing my glasses so I'm not sure if that had any impact on my viewing experience but sometimes it looked a bit... cheap? It also didn't help that before the movie they showed the new trailer for Avatar 2. And that looks fucking amazing, by the way. Overall, I really liked Dr Strange 2. Some of it was just crazy (in a good way) and I can't believe some of the choices Marvel made here regarding some of the things [REDACTED] does (also in a good way). It was different enough that I liked it but for those of you expecting some massive departure from the Marvel formula, you'll be disappointed.

I guess 'The Flash' is in danger seeing as Ezra Miller has recently gone full mental (again!). Sad for Michael Keaton. Was looking forward to old Bats too. Oh well. Yeah, we'll, we'll try to imagine what silence looks like.

FragileUndertow said: CGI looks pretty bad. The show doesn't start until August so I suppose there's still time to improve it but you can tell this show doesn't have the same kind of budget as the movies. I can look past crap special effects if the story is good though. Which is hard to tell from this trailer. Seems like more of a comedy than anything else. I'm on the fence about this show. But I'm glad to see Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth back.

Yes Norton's Hulk was the best...the closest to the Savage Hulk from the comics. I never liked Ruffalo as Bruce Banner....Norton actually looks like the character (but I heard he was a prick to deal with).
And in typical Disney fashion, they took one of Marvel's flagship characters and Disneyfied him. Turned him into Shreck. [Edited 5/18/22 8:11am]

All I want is a live action Batman series written by the writers of the 90's animated series. Is that too much to ask? And as for that Superman show they have now, they can shove that right up their arse. I watched about 20 minutes of it and I had to turn it off. Awful. Everything about it was awful. I'd rather have the Dean Cain show get revived* *I would genuinely like a Lois & Clark revival with Dean Cain.

Because they were. Smallville was good for the first 5 seasons. Gotham, which wasn't a CW show but was on FOX, was great and worth checking out if you haven't yet.

The Cartoons were better.

Ms Marvel doesn't look like my cup of tea but I have to watch it because she's going to feature prominently in Captain Marvel 2, which has now been renamed to The Marvels. Captain Marvel is my daughter's favourite superhero movie so I kind of have to see anything she appears in.

Never seen the justice league cartoons Gotham's biggest problem was the actor who played Bruce Wayne. He was too much of a weed to be believable as a future Batman. In the later seasons he starts doing his vigilante thing but it's just ridiculous looking.

Both. It's clearly aimed at a younger audience but is also a part of the wider MCU. Ms Marvel herself will be in the next Captain Marvel movie and presumably will be back for the next big Avengers movies too. I don't like the look of the Ms Marvel show. At all. But I've kind of gotten used to the fact that not everything Marvel do is aimed at me. Sometimes they do these kind of things that are aimed at 12 year old girls. I'm not 12 anymore. I'm not their target audience for these projects. Just like how WB/DC are aiming their new movies at teen boys who think it's "cool" to be "edgy", as is the case with the emo Batman movie. I love the character of Batman but these new movies are clearly not aimed at me. I'm not, nor have I ever been, a teenage boy. And all that "darker = better" bullshit never made any sense to me anyway.

As good as any drama. Not sure if it works as superhero show tho.
